HELLO THERE:
We are Joe and Liisu, relatively new to RUclips but really excited to be a part of this community. We live small and sustainably in my home on wheels (a lovely van called Freyja) and from time to time out of our backpacks (we have not named the backpacks yet). On this channel, we ask you to join us on our travel adventures off the beaten track where we show you the beauty of untouched nature and wander into places most tourists don't dare to go.
Great review of Ankara. BUT, visiting Ankara without visiting Museum of Anatolian Civilizations is a big miss. This is a great museum that shows you the stuff from paleoletic, neolithic, bronze age, greek and roman times. You will see the first civilizations of human history with amazing findings. This museum was elected as the first "European Museum of the Year" in 1997. One of the best museums I have ever seen!
That was a wonderful video thank you guys!
Actually Ankara is the most green major city in Türkiye. If we look up to greenery per capita of each major cities:
İstanbul: 7,57 m2 per person
İzmir: 6 m2 per person
Ankara: 20 m2 person
so yeah, it is not a coincidence that you encountered many parks lol
Anyways thank you for visiting my city and have a wonderful journey!
Heyhey.
Gald you enjoyed the video!
Sure, it really was green and a lovely city😁.
Hope do be back soon!
Best wishes.
Joe and Liisu!
I wish you saw the Anatolian civilizations museum, Eymir lake and the old parliament. Well, it's good that you came. It is very thoughtful of you to share this video on the anniversary of Ankara's becoming the capital. See you again, stay with love
We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed the video!
We had such a good time in Ankara and hopefully will be back soon 🙏😁.
Best wishes!
Joe and Liisu!
I used to live in Ankara for 3 years. Although everyone is fan of Istanbul, I love Ankara because it is a city for living. Not just for entertaining or sightseeing.
Anatolian Civilizations Museum and Anıtkabir are must-see places…
aitäh for nice videos. Tallinn was also very impressive and well preserved medieval city.
Selamlar sevgiler!
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Best wishes!
lol about the ''tall people trap'' tree branches ;))
Our first home in Türkiye was in Ankara from 1973-1976 when I was still only a young boy of 9yo-12yo.
Ankara - Anadolu Medeniyetleri Müzesi is a mustsee ... Never miss that museum.
Due to the economic crisis in turkey, many people cannot visit ankara.
with this beautiful video of yours, they are visiting ankara and learning. thanks
Thank you for visiting Ankara, the city that I'm very proud to be from.
Our pleasure!
Great video joe I’m amazingly surprised at the cheap price for food in Ankara as places such as marmaris Icmeler fetyia Antalya etc all holiday resorts are very expensive and many ppl have said sadly they won’t be going back because of the high prices thank you for sharing
If prices high for u,You imagine to your salary as Turkish Lira then you can empathize to Turkish people.
Amazing video guys, thanks for sharing. Although I'm half Albanian by my father's side and from the Black Sea Region of Türkiye by my mother's side, I consider Ankara as my hometown. I've visited many cities all over Türkiye, but can't picture myself living in another city. I think Ankara is the most livable metropol city in our country. And I must add you've just seen the tip of the iceberg. 😀 Ankara has so many hidden beauties. Many travellers, tourists come to Türkiye, but few visit Ankara. Much appreciate for that.
Ankara is a beautiful, modern and green city. From the perspective of foreign tourists, it will never be as interesting as Istanbul but it is the city with arguably the best quality of life in Turkey.
As I live in Ankara, I'm very glad to see such a positive video about the city. In relation to your comment about how much the English language is spoken, I would say that only a small percentage of the population can speak English. It's much better than 10 years ago but still, in order to live here, you must know Turkish. Even though you guys mentioned some awesome places, I would like to add a few more; Eymir lake is a must see, Golden village park (Altınköy), Ankara Roman baths and lavender heaven (Lavanta Cenneti) to name a few.
Glad to hear that enjoyed the video!
Ohh I am sure we did not get to see the whole city but this way we have a reason to come back 😁🤞.
Best wishes from rainy northern Türkiye
Joe and Liisu
Coming to say hello and nice to meet you brother...follow your the amazing Ankara...
Konya çok yakın Ankaraya görmenizi tavsiye ederim, harika bir vlog olmuş, Türkiyenin her şehri çok güzel, görülmeye değerler.
So entertaining to watch and listen to you. Every city is a book to read full of stories. Thank you so much for this introduction of Ankara. Ataturk was both a philosopher like Platon and a general like Napoleon. Ataturk said againts wars: Peace in land, peace in world.
In addition, in the past years, Anıtkabir has been flooded with more than 1 million visitors in one day. I remember that it was difficult for me to get out of the Anıtkabir complex in 6- 7 hours that day.
Wow, that is crazy.
When we were there it was quite empty 🙏😀
Even Tourism Ministery cannot make better advertisement video of Ankara. It was really good and believe me most of the Turkish people should watch this video cause they don't know how is Ankara also.
Great videography with an emotional touch in Tuz Gölü! Enjoy your time in Türkiye!
Her zamanki gibi 👍
Really nice, thx 4 the video. selamlar from Germany
I just remember putting on 6kgs after spending 2 weeks hitchhiking across Turkey. The food is delicious but so fat and sugary 😂💪🏼
Cok şanslısınız,Türkiye çok güzel bir ülke.
Thank you guys. Once again you have transported me to a land of mystique and wonder. beautiful oasis, timeless mosques, vast natural landscapes. Many people like myself will never be able to travel. So what you do is enhance our lives with your joy of these moments.

I love the video 🎉 glad you enjoyed my city 😊 p.s. Ankara’s signature dish is “Ankara tava”
Very informative vlog, we learnt a few things, thank you!
its 3rd metropol's turn. yes izmir! come to izmir. izmir is relaxed west coast city. i think you will really enjoy it
Thanks for showing people the bright side of Ankara. I live in ankara since birth and I should say it is a much better place to live than istanbul. There are green parks everywhere, the city view is incredible from Ankara Castle and Atakule. Ankara is the place where atatürk still alive. Also, there's a beautiful square in ankara. It's called "Kızılay Square". It's a small "times square" I should say, that place is also really nice, with its atmosphere, street foods, little restaurants. Great video
well you definitely scared me by showing her crying at the beginning without explanation, im glad that they were happy tears
Yes! She was super happy to see the salt lake!
ankara is very underrated
Ankara ıs a green city because of same man: Atatürk. Early years of the Turkish republic, Ankara ıs the same their neighbour cities. Yellow, Brown, and rockies. But Atatürk had a dream about modern Türkiye and this ıs not Just about industry, education, equality or justice. Türkiye must be rebuilt with their nature too. And he paid in his pocket and bought a huge desertlike area. He started the farm on there. Now today, we Said this desert "Atatürk Forest Farm-Ataturk Orman Ciftligi". After all this years half of this forest turn to buildings but still there ıs a huge forest living middle of Ankara. Some signatures can not be removed. And Atatürks signature ıs live in our hearth forever.
Aaa golbasindamisiniz hala ben golbasina yaşıyorum 🤗 dönmediyseniz yarın sizi görmeyi çok isterim

Ankara ❤ ATATURK FOREVER
Anıtkabir nöbet değişimini izlemediyseniz çok şey kaçırmışsınız.
Just the beginning is hilarious
In Anıtkabir, there is İsmet İnönü's grave right across from Atatürk's grave. I want you to pray for them. Both are rare commanders who have fought for peace, not war. Hope to meet you in a world where peace prevails.
NOTE: Ankara has various museums. Hope you can visit them :)

wonderfull video again thank you guysss ❤
Great video guys xxx After the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, one of the main reason for Ataturk choosing Ankara as the new capital was because it was easier to defend, as it was inland and away from the invading forces UK, France, Italy, and Greece.
Glad you enjoyed it!
And thanks for letting us know!
He also chose Ankara so that he could build a "new" city in his vision
Thank you for the quality information.
Glad you enjoyed the video! 😊🙏

Türkiyede yapılacak en güzel şeylerden biri de nemrut dağına çıkıp kommegene krallığından kalma heykellerin gölgesinde güneşin doğuşunu izlemektir.
Wow you guys have skills. You both walking on water!
Tuz Gölu, the Salt lake is magic 😎
1:20 Because you guys have come to that region in the late summer era of the year. The region is not like that in most of the year. I mean, try to see the landscape during the winter/spring. It is full of green plains and hills thanks to the rain and snow. It becomes just like the old Microsoft screen image.
P.S; It looks empty because Central Anatolia is harvest belt of Turkey which means most of the products are grown there. That is why back then people cut down most of the woodlands in order create much more agricultral fields. So that’s why today you do not see that much forests there. However as you can see it from Eskişehir and Ankara, the soil is pretty fertile and the geography is pretty convenient to create forests and green areas.
Wow ❤👌
Do you know Ankara's history is far before Istanbul.. Very underrated city
Yes..U must see Ankara 😊😇

My wife and I watch your channel daily
You are the sweetest couple and I really like you all.
As for this episode I have to correct you and tell you Istanbul was the Capital of the longest lasting empire ever, the Ottoman. However, they had to retreat and regroup in Anatolia after World War One when the British , French, and ANZACs decided they want to divide the Ottoman Empire and plunder and ravage like they always do
This is why many people think Istanbul is the capital because it was for 400+ years
Hi, I think Joe says Istanbul has never been the capital since the Republic of Turkey was established after the war. And I believe that's correct. Greetings to you!
Heyhey.
Thanks for the conment!
But just as Carla said.
Istanbul has not been the capital of modern Türkiye (the republic of Türkiye).
Anyways hope you enjoyed the video 😁🙏
🥰
But nobody told you to visit the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations (Anadolu Medeniyetleri Müzesi)? That's one of the great museums in Europe... You can see ruins of many many civilizations inside the museum. Rahmi M. Koç Museum is another museum which is not far away from Museum of Anatolian Civilizations. I'm living in Ankara and my childhood was in Kurtuluş Parkı. It changed a lot now. Another park, Kuğulu Park is a tiny park full of people who like to rest and watch the swans. Children also like this park to feed the swans and the pigeons. Sometimes there are concerts at this park.
We missed it yes due to short time for sightseeing in Ankara sadly 😔
