Great review of Ankara. BUT, visiting Ankara without visiting Museum of Anatolian Civilizations is a big miss. This is a great museum that shows you the stuff from paleoletic, neolithic, bronze age, greek and roman times. You will see the first civilizations of human history with amazing findings. This museum was elected as the first "European Museum of the Year" in 1997. One of the best museums I have ever seen!

That was a wonderful video thank you guys!
Actually Ankara is the most green major city in Türkiye. If we look up to greenery per capita of each major cities:
    İstanbul: 7,57 m2 per person
    İzmir: 6 m2 per person
    Ankara: 20 m2 person
so yeah, it is not a coincidence that you encountered many parks lol
Anyways thank you for visiting my city and have a wonderful journey!

Amazing video guys, thanks for sharing. Although I'm half Albanian by my father's side and from the Black Sea Region of Türkiye by my mother's side, I consider Ankara as my hometown. I've visited many cities all over Türkiye, but can't picture myself living in another city. I think Ankara is the most livable metropol city in our country. And I must add you've just seen the tip of the iceberg. 😀 Ankara has so many hidden beauties. Many travellers, tourists come to Türkiye, but few visit Ankara. Much appreciate for that.

As I live in Ankara, I'm very glad to see such a positive video about the city. In relation to your comment about how much the English language is spoken, I would say that only a small percentage of the population can speak English. It's much better than 10 years ago but still, in order to live here, you must know Turkish. Even though you guys mentioned some awesome places, I would like to add a few more; Eymir lake is a must see, Golden village park (Altınköy), Ankara Roman baths and lavender heaven (Lavanta Cenneti) to name a few.

There are green parks everywhere, the city view is incredible from Ankara Castle and Atakule. Ankara is the place where atatürk still alive. Also, there's a beautiful square in ankara. It's called "Kızılay Square". It's a small "times square" I should say, that place is also really nice, with its atmosphere, street foods, little restaurants. Great video

Ankara ıs a green city because of same man: Atatürk. Early years of the Turkish republic, Ankara ıs the same their neighbour cities. Yellow, Brown, and rockies. But Atatürk had a dream about modern Türkiye and this ıs not Just about industry, education, equality or justice. Türkiye must be rebuilt with their nature too. And he paid in his pocket and bought a huge desertlike area. He started the farm on there. Now today, we Said this desert "Atatürk Forest Farm-Ataturk Orman Ciftligi". After all this years half of this forest turn to buildings but still there ıs a huge forest living middle of Ankara. Some signatures can not be removed. And Atatürks signature ıs live in our hearth forever.

1:20 Because you guys have come to that region in the late summer era of the year. The region is not like that in most of the year. I mean, try to see the landscape during the winter/spring. It is full of green plains and hills thanks to the rain and snow. It becomes just like the old Microsoft screen image.
P.S; It looks empty because Central Anatolia is harvest belt of Turkey which means most of the products are grown there. That is why back then people cut down most of the woodlands in order create much more agricultral fields. So that’s why today you do not see that much forests there. However as you can see it from Eskişehir and Ankara, the soil is pretty fertile and the geography is pretty convenient to create forests and green areas.

Brother I am a Muslim. I am Turkish and American
We stumbled on Turkiye by staying in Istanbul for 3 days in 2017 on or vacation to Norway. We spent a week in Norway and visited all the Viking sites and then went to Bergen.
We loved Turkiye so much that we bought a house there and became Citizens
My wife and I watch your channel daily
You are the sweetest couple and I really like you all.
As for this episode I have to correct you and tell you Istanbul was the Capital of the longest lasting empire ever, the Ottoman. However, they had to retreat and regroup in Anatolia after World War One when the British , French, and ANZACs decided they want to divide the Ottoman Empire and plunder and ravage like they always do
This is why many people think Istanbul is the capital because it was for 400+ years

Hi, I think Joe says Istanbul has never been the capital since the Republic of Turkey was established after the war. And I believe that's correct. Greetings to you!

But nobody told you to visit the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations (Anadolu Medeniyetleri Müzesi)? That's one of the great museums in Europe... You can see ruins of many many civilizations inside the museum. Rahmi M. Koç Museum is another museum which is not far away from Museum of Anatolian Civilizations. I'm living in Ankara and my childhood was in Kurtuluş Parkı. It changed a lot now. Another park, Kuğulu Park is a tiny park full of people who like to rest and watch the swans. Children also like this park to feed the swans and the pigeons. Sometimes there are concerts at this park.
