With every ride, Estrid is just getting better and better. Love seeing her progress! That course was awesome. That looks like some of the trails we have here in the States.
My boy has been out of work dealing with abscessing front feet, and between the stalling and limited paddock turn out to really draw these abscesses out, he’s had it and been very sassy. You just never know truly how they’ll react to new things. I bet Estrid didn’t have true malice towards the chestnuts, but if Fluffy isn’t a really confident pony companion (you said before they were feeding off of each other) she may have felt the need to take that role on of being more dominant/confident when in close quarters with others. Smart to tie the red in just in case. I love watching you grow this mare. She’s so intelligent and trusting of you. Thankful she appears okay from the minor injury as well! Wishing wellness to you, Estrid, Fluffy and his owner! You all did amazing!
Congrats on another successful ride! What a fun day out, and a beautiful trail. She handled that terrain like an eager little goat! My first horse, RIP Abbey, LOVED the rocky technical stuff. Things I didn't think a horse could safely handle, she'd tackle with glee while I held on and prayed! 😂 When it comes to boots, what would be the draw backs? I've taught my baby to wear splint boots, but wasn't sure if they'd be helpful or risky on muddy trails...
The draw back for boots is the heat build up in the tendons, over a certain temperature it's bad for the cells (Dr Marlin has done some great boot research). Obviously it slows vet gates down but that's not really an issue. I think for Estrid it'll be a necessary risk as she's cutting herself so much 🙈 x
Hi Beth, not an equine question but what model/engine is your Transit? I am looking at buying one for towing and keep getting told different things about suitability. Thanks?
Hia, yeah I understand the confusion. My brother and Dan are both engineers so they gave me excellent advice. So basically they said that you need the 2.2l engine and as much HP as you can get for towing. I also put all terrain tyres on to help with grip. It's very stable and great on any hills with one horse. The only time it struggles is on slick mud/stones with two horses in. X
@@bethendurance thank you for responding, is it all wheel drive? I was also told as the Transit is a 'unibody' it isn't suitable. Does the 2.2l come in different HP models? What length (swb etc.) and height (mid roof etc.) is yours and what carrying load capacity (internal) and braked towing capacity does it have? I am wanting to build a Transit out to live in it whilst towing my horse around 🙂
@kyliehoneyman6304 mine is an L1H1 270 capacity. It's front wheel drive. There's so many vans that tow in Europe. Mostly Ducatos and Replays though. I have no regrets to far 🤷♀️ x
That ride was just lovely and looked like a lot of fun

It was one of my favourite rides I've done, can't wait to go back next year x

Hope he gets better soon! She certainly learns very quickly! X

Hi Beth, do you like your Chevak box? I'm thinking of getting one.
I love it. Especially the full length tack locker and how far the partition can swing around out the way x
