Saive was once number one in the world, and he still has a great style, but it demands a high level of physical conditioning. He has long strokes which require more energy than shorter ones and he moves a lot.
@@pukulu Saive even in his prime was pretty weak against choppers, same case with Gatien. The swing action is too abrupt which causes timing errors.Aruna seems to have copied his style.
The tall Korean defensive player was much higher rated in their prime. Long legs to track down shots and a powerful long armed loop the second the offensive player lets up.
I don't think it's meant to startle. I've been watching Saive play for decades. I think it's just his way of preparing his footwork to receive a serve. I don't think anyone at the pro level is really paying a lot of attention to what their opponent is doing while they're in the process of the serve.
RazorBlade I think Chen wanted to keep it on his backhand side so that’s why he doesn’t want give the other guy the opportunity to change the direction to Chen’s forehand side

@@dickn.ormous1064 Jean-Michel Saive was always constrained by his shorts. He really needed a pair of women's panties.
Chen the best moden defender..

Большие мастера.
Great match. Chen played smart. I feel sorry for Saive.

Has anyone noticed how saive moves his body at the chen's serve as if to startle him??

Lovely
Saive 似乎老得很快~
Why doesn't the guy in blue serve down the edge of the table since the red guy is wayyy over to his right

The player in red wants his leg to be seen.hehehe
