I can justify Markus' turn 1 play - he Sludge Bombed his own Raichu to increase the damage output of Endeavor
There are better ways to put a status condition on your own pokemon though, like Toxic Orb.
I Am Mattnificent Endeavor does more damage the less HP you have. Facade is the one that does more damage when you have a status condition :)

markus probably planned on it but hitmontop switched in so it was too risky to go for endeavor (me replying so long after this is funny LOL)

Megas aren't bad, but Primals have cut item and team diversity to unacceptable lows.
Mega Kang is the only one that's bad, Primals the fatal flaw was they didn't count as Megas.
The new terrain wars that will happen are gonna make the format revolve around them the only difference from vgc16 is that kyogre and groudon got a lot of quick ko's which in vgc17 probably won't happen especially with no megas

You could get one from a past Mystery Gift of Soft Resetting during the Delta Episode of ORAS.
Rayquaza is shiny-locked I think.
it's an old mystery gift. get a power save action replay thing and u can get any and I mean ANY past mystery gift and as many as u want
Rayquaza is shiny locked in ORAS. You have to get it it the original Ruby/Sapphire or by event
You wouldn't be allowed to use the Rayquaza from original Ruby/Sapphire in this tournament. It has to be through the event.
when everyone uses Kyogre Groudon Rayquaza and mega gengar and 2 extra pokemon the game becomes a matter of luck more than skill.

Markus had practically the same team as Wolfe. I don't know about the movesets and other things though..

Yeah they literally made the team together preparing for worlds. I think markus ran a bit more bulk on his kyogre and gengar, but other than that they're identical.

Many higher level players have more than one copy of the game, for various reasons. Counting things in one game is no where near the full picture.

Look at me, I'm special and cool because I don't use legendaries! Like, do you not understand that there's nothing inherently meaningful about that label? As long as all players are allowed to use the same Pokemon, there's no fundamental difference between a meta of all legendaries and a meta of only baby Pokemon. That said, I didn't really like the 2016 format, but that has more to do with centralization and the presence of Moody than hate for legendaries. I'd gladly take a meta like 2015 (legendaries common, but diverse throughout the season) over a format like 2014 (almost 0 legendaries, but teams quite homogeneous for most of the season).
If everyone is able to use them it balances it out and makes the games even more difficult, cuz sweeps will become even more common.

These matches are so boring though. It's always the same pokemon. Primal Groudon and Kyogre, M Rayquaza, M Kangaskhan... boring. World Championships should be regular teams, no legends..
Relax-O-Vision The teams depends on the official VGC rules... VGC 14 is a good example of a format that left place for numerous teams and hopefully VGC 17 too!
Sam Faubert what are you talking about 2014 had good diversity? People had a lot Pokémon in common politoad, ludicolo, garchomp, talonflame, mega kang, hydregion, rotom, gardevoir and a few other Pokémon
