Salah is a world class player who will go down as one of Liverpool’s greatest players in time, if he stays.
He has had the greatest season (last season) by a player not named Ronaldo/Messi in my lifetime. To understand how good he is, consider this: He has supposedly had a “bad” season (this season) by his standards, and ended up as top scorer in the Premier League. That is Ronaldo/Messi-esque in nature.
He is a unique player, the likes of which I cannot remember in my 20 years of watching top-level football. He has a belter of a left foot, a bit like Van Persie in his prime. He has Robben’s burst of speed. He has a bit of Messi in his dribbling. He has the positioning of Ronaldo. He has the humility of Gerrard. But what I love most about him, is the fact that he is a superstar but comes across as a normal, family man in love with his normal wife (no supermodel gold-digging opportunist of a wife) and thankful to be playing for one of the best clubs in the world. The closest player, in that sense, that I have seen to Scholes of Manchester.
