I use almost the exact same technique - can highly recommend it! Great video Anas 💪🏼
It’s a solid technique init
You guys are amazing ,love watching your video 😊♥️♥️
Whats your name kharmamedic?
Same! I did this for all my high school years and i didn't know it was a technique, i just did it cause i'm too lazy to read more than a few pages
XD Did it work for you? Because im really hoping that Anas’s technique will help me and im glad he made this video.
I can totally see his handwriting slowly becoming a doctor's

Anas is talking about studying 2-3 weeks for exams when I’m here like MY EXAMS ARE IN 2-3 DAYS 😣
OMG I laughed so hard when I saw your comment idk why. This is exactly what was on my mind when he said studying 2-3 weeks before exams while my exams are in a couple of days! like what the hell? does this mean i'm gunna fail? haha!
Guyss you’re going to be fine!!!
Majd Haddad dw sis we’ll get through somehow
lmao
I'm here while my exam is tomorrow
how does 6 hours sound
People: study
Anas: upload it into my mind
I used a form of this for my A-level biology. I would summarise each chapter into an A4 piece of paper so by exams I had only 21 pieces of paper to revise from, I would then try to go through them as if I am teaching someone the topic. I got an A* - It was my best subject. I could never stick to those spaced repetition spreadsheets and I would waste time setting them up.
Wooww that’s sick
Taisha Peplowska whats A4?
@@joelmiller2601 Size of the paper. Your school exercise book is most likely A4 and so is normal printer paper. 21x30 cm
@Aurora I went over all those notes repeatedly and used anki flashcards on the commute to school few weeks before the exam; I would still say that's spaced repetition but I didn't follow any strict schedule the way for example Ali Abdaal sets it up. Close to the exams you should know which areas you struggle with more than the others and just focus on that. I found that planning and updating the spreadsheet would take time and distract me. Give it a go though see what you like.
Aurora what’s spaced repetition?
I accidentally came across this study technique, when my teacher would allow us one “cheat sheet” for the exam. I would spend the time trying to shorten and condense all the info into that one page, that by the time I’m able to fit everything in it, i end up memorizing all the info and end up not even needing the cheat sheet lol. I’m pretty sure the teacher knew that was going to be the end result, and that’s why he gave us the 1 sheet rule. Thinking he was letting us off easy, but actually what ended up was he tricked us into studying. 😂 and this actually helped me so much, as I aced all my tests in his class, I just ended up doing this for all my future exams. And seeing this method is used even by med students for their exams, i guess my high school teacher was onto something...
do you know what he means by covering, is it as in just reading ur cheat sheet or doing active recall?
zero blackcat i think he means you cover your notes, and recall the content, which was what he was doing to show how it works
Now that's called teaching
Smart teacher
Brilliant😝
Guys when he says 2-3 weeks, he is speaking about major exams, not biology 101 😅
LOOOL
EXACTLY
Some biology 101 courses are pretty difficult depending on where you take it.
Lol 😁😉
Loll
notes
- trying to understand the concepts for the most of the year
- 2-3 (4)weeks before the exam starting to memorize
overview
- active recall: flash cards, question banks,... ↠ using one notebook to memorize everything every time HIGH INTENSITY NOTEBOOK RECALL
you take loads of information and minimize it to a small page
Step 1 Distillation
- distill everything in one section; cut out things that you know or that repeat themselves
Step 2 Reformulation
-reformulate those bullet points in small sections
ex. Absence ↠ F>M, 3-10YRS, Few Secs, Hypervent,...
Step 3 Upload
- read the notes every day until your exam
You know the last step, the memorising, does he mean just reading it or reading it where you memorize it without looking at the notebook cause I'm kinda confused 😅
And also do you need to use a notebook to do the cutting down or are there other ways??
@@pikabooo You can use ANKI and do the same thing. That’s probably more efficient if you have more than a week before you’re exam
Man said 2-3 weeks it's in 2 days
Hahaha it might still work
12 hours for me :)
i have 10 minutes well shit
@Izzy you can do this cmon
Ahh bless 🤟💫
I’m kinda werid but I really enjoy studying for exams and seeing that there are easier ways to do that just makes me excited for the next semester😊Thank you this was really helpful!!
Hahaha I get excited about exams too sometimes lowkey
At least you are able to know or predict what you will be asked about .
Here in Syrian medical school of lattakia they make exam questions from moon.
I never learnt how to study even being in second year in medical school this is my first time knowing how to study properly by using your 4 methods: Flowing through the lecture slides and understanding them and then condensing them onto a word point. From there I would use the memorization techniques by using the - Distillation, reformulation and the upload via Word document or a notebook. That for me sums it on how to study for medical school. I have an exam in 1 week I don't know how I am going to pass at this rate, but I will try my best to do what I can. Thanks Anas for your tips and how to study.
Ramadan mubarak,
Maryumé
We pray you do well 🙏🏽
@@kaekae9593 thank you ❤️
How did that exam go btw and also how did you condense information on word or Google docs because I can't afford a notebook
Did u figure it out
Anas:talks about distillation and shortening the content..
Anatomy: U kidding me??
Loooooooool
Haha 🤣
😂
Well biochemistry is far more lengthy than anatomy 😁
number 1 tip for anatomy is drawing things out and colouring and labelling them according to nerves/blood vessels etc. then quizlet questions and any other questions you can find. ALSO frm my experience the worst thing you can do for anatomy is panic, the exam usually comes easier than you think.
THANK YOU SO MUCH. I've been struggling with distillation for the longest time. I don't know if it is due to my ADD, but I always write down way too many details and my notes just look like a copy of the textbook. Now I can get away with it because the information isn't too much. But later on I will get way more information that I need to study in a short amount of time. Thank you so much for taking the time to actually explain the distillation process:)
WOAH This is such a useful technique! I'm sitting for my pre-med exams in a few months and I'll use this!!! ANd you don't even need a lot of things, just a notebook, and a pen. that's it. wow. I'll start today.
Good luck with it lemme know how it goes :)

FINALLY someone who shows what condensing information is or distillation. I know how to do it but when I used to make videos or on my Instagram people used to say but how do I make what seems like a lot of relevant info into a smaller amount of info.
What you just did there was show how to condense properly and why. Smashed it with this video
Amazing video! What I really loved is that it’s so simple yet efficient and doesn’t require a lot of mechanical work like making flash cards; instead there’s half of learning just done in the process👍
my finals are in 2 weeks!!! what a perfect time to come across to this video! thank you may Allah bless u!!!!!!
This is the only video with an actual helpful and efficient method to study and make notes. You’re a legend mate!
THANKS FOR THE TIME YOU TOOK PUTTING THIS TOGETHER FOR US,I APPRECIATE IT AND IM GONNA USE IT IN FUTURE
Glad to hear someone actually talk about how difficult keeping up with active recall and having all the timetables can be, great advice 👍
Been loving the consistency lately!! , Btw , enjoy Spain much deserved!! 👍😎
I appreciate that bro, Spain is sickkk
Thank you so so much. I've been so lost studying first year mbbs atm. There is sooo much content and I had no clue what to do tbh. You're a lifesaver haha. All the best :)
This is seriously the most helpfull studies video related I have seen so far and trust me I saw PLENTY of them !! Thank youuu Anas !! Wish me luck .
I wish I came across your channel before the year began. I really feel like I'd be way more organised and doing much better. These videos are amazing. Thank you for this.😊

I came across this random video a few months ago and i liked the idea behind the notebook. So today i decided i would start studying more efficiently. It took me a solid half an hour trying to remember your youtube channel name and another half an hour scouring through your ALL YOUR videos to find this exact video from my vague memory. i’m so happy to find this GEM OF A CHANNEL. thank you so much for this quality content, anas!
Jazakallah for these tips Anas. You’re videos have boosted my confidence levels for my a level January mocks.
I will come here again when i pass my exams. It's in 2 months and i have a lot to finish.
"if you've left it a bit late- 2, 3, 4 weeks to go"- not me here the night before
Super useful video man. Got an exam in two months myself and I've been using a variation of this method for years now. Your way refines it more so gna give it a go 👌🏾
This might be the greatest and most helpful video I have watched! thanks a million mate
This is the best video that teaches me how to do the A4 technique in Medical school.. I cannot thank you enough

Im really happy that the is still has people like you. Love ya ❣️🥇
i just finished most of my exams, but this advice will surely help with the remaining two! Thanks :)
The funny thing is I think this method works because I'm pretty sure I'm going to be able to remember what absence seizures are, even though I'm in Social Sciences and have no interest in medicine XD
I love your presence!! :) I found this video to be very helpful - thank you, Anas!
Liked and subscribed cuz of the ingenious idea. 1st time I’ve heard this. Precise and great example. Will definitely try this out
omg you might have saved my life. im definitely going to try this. i'm falling behind my first sem in medicine and my FINAL FINAL exam is in two weeks tops. will go back here and check with my progress after. wish me luck!! hope I survive

Your distillation technique and reformulation technique was extremely useful. Thank you for sharing!
Always giving helpful advice, also your editing skills and videos are amazingggg!! Thank you 🙌🏼 😊
I have studied all year long, religiously, scored well in descriptives, but have observed my retention is horribly low, making me score below average on mcqs. My exam is due in ten days, I hope this will work.. and knowing that you cannot work with time tables is a ray of hope for me, because I've made so many, but couldn't stick to one for more than 2 days, they feel choking.
So Thankyou..
I've been using this technique since middle school (I'm at uni now), and it works really well😄
Man you are actually making me feel to level my game up i hope i m able to be more productive in this rather monotonous time of lockdown.
A true inspiration. Thanks a lot for tip, I actually learned so much from this video.
That moment when you memorize his example but still can't remember what you're actually studying and trying to summarize lmfao i'm 💀💀💀💀💀

Me watching this the morning of the exam ;O
Perfect timing Akhi JazakAllahu khairan 👍
I used to use this way of memorizing from when i was in the primary school and it helped me everytime
2-3 weeks, bish i have a day 😂
now i know why i used to be able to memorize everything last year. I was spending an extreme amount of time trying not to waste pages in my notebook...
i always thought it was a nuisance because of limited notebook space so I switched to obsidian online notes this year and I had a harder time memorizing stuff. Always assumed my cognitive abilities deteriorated. Guess I'm going back to old-school!
I am so glad I came across this video exactly 2 weeks before my med school exams !!
I randomly came across your channel, and I've been watching your videos for fun the past couple of days. I enjoy your content!
Glad your enjoying the videos :)
Imagine losing that big value notebook..
Just reading this gave me anxiety
The next step is to transfer the notebook info into Microsoft document form. This will solidify the information in your memory d/t active typing. 😊🧠
Imagine this make me cry 😂😂😂😂
Oh boy no
That notebook is priceless , even with a pouch of bucks😭😭
Can u make a video on each of the mmi stations for the medicine interview and how to do well in them please.
I’m working on something for this
@@AnasNuurAli Snm Thank u
Aaaaaaaaaa this is the best method I’ve seen so far! Really helpful! Thanks
Thanks, anas you have no idea how much you help me, for my preparations.
2-3 weeks? I have one exam in 19 hours and the second in 24 hours, I guess I need to speed it up guys
Do you start filling in the notebook after every lecture or do you just start making it and memorizing a few weeks in advance? Also how long does it usually take you? Great video btw! I’ve been binging your videos the past few days because I’m in a really bad burnout after my first year of uni and am struggling to get through my summer class. The tips you give are really helpful and unique:)
Same question
Thank you so much for this Anas,,,,,it was very productive to use your method and it really assisted me for this semester.
Thankyou so much, I'm going to try it. It's like a simpler way of active recalling, I love it!
Hope it helps, let me know how it goes
This is how i literally study for my history class during the high scool. I wrote all the important points in a paper and recall it. Then during the examination, i wrote everything that i can remember on the exam paper and start answering
This is great! Will try to strt that in my next semester. Wish I had done for my biochemistry exams. A question! You did your notes from pptx or u use textbooks ? If u were suppose to use textbooks how would u get all those info condense?
I don’t use textbooks, only powerpoints and online searches
Going to have my midterms in almost three weeks and I’m going to try this method for my Anatomy, Zoology and Intro to Psychology exams! Thanks
Super super useful ! Thank you Anas for
