- In 2014, scientists first heard a unique sound coming from the waters around the Mariana Trench. Experts weren't sure what it was, but now a team of researchers led by Oregon State University have published a study in the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America that suggests the alien-like sound could be a new call from a baleen whale.

We want to explore space and other planets so desperately.
But we don’t even know what’s in our own oceans.
Probably because they believe we could colonize other planets as a backup plan for the world ending. We couldn't really go live at the bottom of the ocean when that happens.

Hypercube Extrusion I thought the same thing too but I’m gravitating more towards the sounds coming from two different animals or objects. It’s just too large of a range to come from one animal I think. That vocal pattern is more extreme than a dolphin or velociraptor. And if it is from the same animal then it’s one I don’t think we’ve seen before haha.

Given the reverb of a typical guilted soundwave, it's most likely a excluded pickup from a strained servo motor. The echoing that you hear is nothing but electrical audiocams, they travel at extremely high frequencies in convoluted salt water but dissipate with shuttle terminals, which we know the ROV was using to record. It kind of sounds like if something snagged the cable holding the hydrophone producing the low reverberations turning into high frequencies. As the tension on the cable causes the frequency to grow higher as the cable snaps back into place. Like stretching a rubber band and strumming it the tighter it gets the higher the frequency the looser the lower the frequency.

Long story short, we don't know what all is in our oceans, and for all we know, there could be something at the bottom of the Mariana trench. Not saying it's aliens, not saying it's anything terrestrial, but the overall point is we don't know, and until we do have information, speculations will run wild

I suspect that the twang is an echo of the original. As the original sound travels it actually will is bounce about through the different layers of the ocean. For instance the way the can deflect sound waves when say using sonar but still allows for a other frequencies to travel through that layer. Also take into account the salinity of ocean water itself which could filter out lower frequencies. Whatever is causing this there will be a realistic answer for it. There always is.

The bloop is an icequake for sure. If you listened to it at the speed it was recorded, it sounds less like an animal. Julia and this could be some kind of animal (although Julia is also said to be an iceberg). My theory for this sound is that the first part is a whale, and the second part is a separate sound from something else (possibly mechanical, possibly a young whale as others have said, possibly some other type of creature). Something else that I saw in the comment section that I found interesting, was that it could essentially be residual sounds. Considering many people believe that residual sounds occur in the form of non-intelligent hauntings, perhaps the sound we are hearing could be something like that in the form of residual calls from the beasts that may have roamed the area hundreds or even thousands of years ago.

For me, it almost sounds like a back and forth mating call or something between a male deep sea creature and a female. The higher pitch has the sound of curiosity and acceptance while the lower pitch has the sound of someone looking for something. That's just my guess
