  • In Part Two of the Venice Sho-Line Crips series, Cisco and Bird recall the Rollin' 60s as their main rivalry, predating the beef with the Playboy Gangster Crips 3x, stemming from incidents at World on Wheels over the School Yard Crips, and the Civic Auditorium in Santa Monica most known for hosting the 38th Academy Awards ceremony, hosted by Bob Hope. It was the first Academy Awards to be broadcast live in color.
    Kay Kay also joins Cisco, and Bird, to talk answer questions about the Marvista Gardens Housing Projects in Culver City. Many of the black residents in Marvista Gardens had some sort of ties to the Historic Oakwood Park community and the Venice Shoreline Crips Founded in 1972 in the bleachers where we filmed this video.
    In 1982 the projects was 49% Mexican, 30% Black, 14% White, 7% Oriental, Samoan, Alaskan, and Pacific Islanders.

    KK telling the truth!! The kings had the gym on lock 🔐....shout out to Big Freddie and Mr.Price!! I lived in the gym, played all sports there.....best times of my childhood....and the grape 🍇 streets were in there also.....I moved in the PJ's in 84 and sholines were getting deep....S-Man in the old school, Smurf in old School(just to name a few)....as a kid I used to get dropped off at the gym by the sholines with the hardest old schools, cutlass, omegas, 5.0....it got so bad in there they turned a couple of buildings into police offices/come tell buildings lol.....bought my first suede Nike Cortez at the warehouse shoe store right next to Marina Del Ray Middle School..damm those was the days......if you know than you know....blessings and well wishes to everyone who grow up in the PJ's during those times....

    Great interview Kev...I’m black that grew up in Culver City with those Eses in the early 90s... it’s cool seeing the Sho Lines perspective of the Culver City & Venice war, one thing for sure growing up with them Eses, back then although we was black they wasn’t on no racist shit they was cool as hell as long as you wasn’t from Venice 😂 Culver City Boys hated these dudes.💯

    When I visited LA, I found it weird how LA, Santa Monica, Culver City, Venice and Hollywood are considered their own cities when they're literally right next to each other. It all feels like one city if you don't live there.

      I've lived in LA my whole life so I get what you mean. Venice and Santa Monica specifically are right up the street from each other. Culver City is connected to both Santa Monica and Venice but Hollywood is way too big a city as is to be combined with those three

Everything just felt like sections of LA and not their own city because there aren't any obvious borders or tolls or anything that let's you know that you're somewhere else. LA county is the only place I know that got cities next to each other like that.

      @@swanm3ta850 Hollywood is a county in itself. Theres North Hollywood which is huge then West Hollywood which is also huge. LA County has about 88 cities in total. A place like Hollywood is split into neighborhoods that operate as there own cities. All the cities are next to each other there are no open spaces between cities everything is congested and crowded lol.

Cities and towns go next to each other that’s how that works everywhere not just LA so I’m going to guess you haven’t traveled much at all. Phoenix for example is a city of almost 2 million people but Phoenix is part of what the call “the valley” so the valley consists of Phoenix,Tempe,Scottsdale,Glendale etc etc the cities that make up the valley have over 4million combined resistance

    I remember when my aunt stayed in that project bust out all her windows on the lower level because they thought my cousin was from Venice just because he went to Venice high and that happened in 96 or 97 never knew the Venice cats had a section in the projects now I know why certain shit went down with the blacks

    The OG with the tall can needs to be interviewed more. Kev Mac excellent video man. The chicanos and blacks have always had a major presence out in the west side. From what I know blacks and browns were the people who did the labor on this Venice canals along with a few Asians/ Filipinos.

    Damn man I'm surprised nobody mentioned Venice Suicidal homies. I used to to a little this and that with some Sui's from Venice , and they was good with both Shoreline and the Vatos. They were the punk rockers and shit too the Samoans used to do security at fenders ball room here in LB which is why the Uso's from SOS claim Suicidals too. Like 15th and 32nd at Silverado.

      Zen Dogg (R.I.P.) was a real one, around 92 i was mobbin in Santa Monica goin to the party at the boyz club and this primered glasshouse came outta nowhere bumpin The Hit by MC Pooh, Zen Dogg swerved that mf towards the sidewalk jumped out wit his homies and banged on my ass, i gave it up ☝ SYC.     Just want to correct a couple things. I was born and raised in the Mar Vista PJs. I'm in my late 40s. First I never heard of culver city piru. Second the homie Tito was 15 yrs old in 93 when he got shot that night to kicc off the war. Third I never heard of culver city insane, but because Venice had LIC TIC and BIC cliccs we had CIC "Crazy Insane" in the projects. It was the younger generation. The same generation as the TICs in Venice. The late 70s babies. The generation that claimed SS VSLC. The generation my big homie KK spoke on having clashes with the eses and their big homies after school at Marina Jr High. RIP SMAN / TITO / SMALL DOG / LEE LOC² / ZEN DOG / SPEEDY
