First off, thanks Kev Mac, what you are doing for the black culture of Los Angeles is invaluable. Our history, good or bad will make us stronger and wiser in coming generations. I grew up on 65th and Denker from1979 (6yrs old) to 1987 (14yrs old). I don't remember Raymond Potts per se but I do remember hearing his name spoken every now and then like he was a legend but always in small bits and pieces. The big homies probably thought I was too young to hear the real stories because I was the youngest on the block at that time. Because of that I have always been extremely curious about him and would like to know his story if possible. Thanks again Kev
You and I probably know one another. I grew up on 65th Place & Western Ave. I went to Raymond Avenue Elementary School and I was classmates with Raymond Potts' younger brother, Raynard Potts. It was something about him even in the 3rd grade you just knew he himself was going to be tougher than leather. I lived on 65th & Western Avenue from 1974 up until 1985. It was some pretty tough times over there. But I have a very strong appreciation for where I grew up and the way my parents raised me.
@@bigbaba4542 I wondered the same thing. I know when I was in elementary school, his younger brother & I were in the same 3rd grade classroom together.
