    What a classic performance by the premier female singer in the world today. Sincillating sound from the whole group I must say.

    The Seekers sought, and found. In doing so they have given the world a most wonderful and joyous experience, one that all of us should be thankful for. Well done The Seekers.

    I got divorced a few years ago. When your wife divorces you at 66 you tend to feel abandoned. Here I am three years later and met a woman my age. She has been divorced for 17 years. Colors of my life hits hard and hits home. What a wonderful song to find and fill both of our hearts and heal the pain. Thank you Seekers

    Ah, I think you found a speeded up version. If you look for your recording in HQ you'll find it's in C, as well as the live 1968 black and white (my favorite). That said... I love this song ! The blend of the harmonys, the timber of the male voices against Judith's is what makes the Seeker magic. And of course Judith herself, humble, beautiful inside and out.

    Just been watching the 1967 version of this beautiful song, Judiths voice was incredible in it,
    just watched this live video & her voice (if it's possible) sounds even more incredible,
    Thank you Judith...

      In 1967 she was still a girl, at her reunion she was a woman. The voice is deeper and, IMHO, better. Certainly her understanding of her art was greater. That she was able to share it well into her old age, despite accident and illness, was a kind of miracle. Thank you Lord.

      @@goochywahwah You are quite welcome. I wish we in the USA had been more aware of her later on career, of the Seekers as well. FOUR outstanding musicians, it was. Amazing that they, men in their 80s(!) still have their middle-age voices. Carry on, gentlemen !

    Exactly right, and even stronger and richer then the 68 farewell version. What a beautiful lady.
    However someone needs to point out to the cameraman that there are other Seekers on stage. The blend of ALL these voices is what makes the Seekers magic........

    @jade7249 I don't know whether you are aware that they did re-unite to perform with Andre Rieu in concerts in Australia in May 2011. Or do you mean since then?? I did seen them performing with Andre Rieu in the Rod Laver Arena in May 2011. They performed 4 songs. There are a few clips from these performances here on RUclips. I had hoped that Andre Rieu would release a DVD of one of those Australian concerts. He may still do.

    Yipes, Judith Durham and Linda Ronstadt in the same sentence? The young Linda Ronstadt basically yelled her way through songs, and this is by Ronstadt's own admission. Judith Durham's voice seems effortless for her, even 25 years later. Pitch perfect clear and cuts right through, yet gentle and soothing at the same time. And if you've heard her speak, you'll know her beauty is both inside and out. A true treasure in the world of music.

    About 4 years ago, William M wrote in these comments that he thought Durham is singing this song for her husband, who is in the audience. On the video of the 25th Anniversary Reunion Concert in Melbourne 1993, we briefly see someone, who I am almost sure is her husband, Ron Edgeworth. Just after the end of Morningtown Ride (about 26 min 40 sec into the show on the current RUclips video of this show), and before You’re My Spirit, we see the audience applauding. A blond woman is near the camera. The man I think is Edgeworth is the second man to her right. He turns to look at the camera as it moves down the aisle.

  • @drrjim
    @drrjim 12 лет назад +1

    @acclivity1
    The early version is actually in C. I personally don't think the one note difference in key changes the sound. Probably more likely the keyboard, electric bass and drums give it a smoother modern sound. I happen to think Judith's voice and pitch is stronger then ever in this version. My only complaint is that someone needed to tell the camera man that the band is The Seekers, with an S at the end.

    I think she was singing this for her husband and soul mate, who was in the audience and who would die just a few months later from a neuromuscular disease. The consumate professional, even in the face of tragedy.

    A Jamieson Smile: "Black & Grey" are the colors for the comfort of a good night's sleep.
    Judith, understanding a child's first experience with sleep,
    recognizes she will be "without you". When the morning comes,
    after a good night's sleep, she awakens to the colors, "Red & Blue",
    the colors of someone she loves.
    With loving eyes & heart & the sound of a lover in love,
    Veritas,
    Peter (Jamieson)

  • @acclivity1
    @acclivity1 12 лет назад

    It is interesting to note that they sing this a whole tone lower than they did 25 years earlier ... this is in the key of B, as opposed to Db for the earlier version. I have to admit it loses some brightness as a result.

    This group is unbelievable. Close your eyes, sit back and listen to the 1968 farewell concert version and then listen to this version, performed 25 years later. I defy you to tell the difference.

    "Highlights" are a very important part of a composition"s
    "rhythm & direction" (melody & contour).
    The "Melodic Highlight" (focus) on Judy by the Camera man
    was quite keen to show the true "energy of a "pop artist"
    of folk legend without distraction or
    "how many camera shots should each receive?".
    Leave that to the agent or vanity!
    With a smile in his heart,
    Jamieson (Peter).

    I am not sure that the Seekers would have ever happened without Judith's amazing voice but it always seems to work best in concert with Bruce, Athol and Keith. Of course Tom Springfield's songs certainly helped launch them.
