  • Complex-oxide heterostructures are a leading example of quantum-matter heterostructures opening up a new arena of solid-state physics. The scientific development of this area and a range of potential applications require the growth of high purity heterostructures. At the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research, a new thin-film deposition technique was developed that is especially suitable for the growth of oxide heterostructures with atomic precision using thermal laser epitaxy that shows the evaporation of almost all elements of the periodic table in the same arrangement.
Demcon Nymus 3D has created an animation to explain this technique.
