@@MrVarunparmar Well, first of all I never searched for this video, it was on a list of suggestions. Maybe because I had watched some language-videos in the past (Japanese and Russian mostly). However I soon found out , that it can be very interesting to have a look at your own language from the perspective of an outsider. As a native speaker you mostly use your language, without giving much thought to grammatic details, and believe it or not, some of the grammar in this video here was quite a revelation for me as well.

I disagree. You should make such mistakes in order to get corrected by someone who knows German. This way you brain can learn properly. We learn through mistakes..
Hi a native German speaker here. Important note for those who want to learn German. The absolute majority of German native speakers do not speak their own language 100% correctly. They make gross mistakes in grammar and sometimes even in pronunciation. With this I would like to encourage everyone and say that in reality grammar is overrated nowadays, in which you can lose yourself and waste a lot of time. So don't stress about grammar.
Thanks for the comment! Laura does try to teach grammar correctly just because that is the best starting point and always worth trying to get it right! Laura's method includes patterns and grammar rules to learn, so if you can internalize the rules and patterns, that will make learning a lot easier for non-natives. Always nice to know that Germans don't speak correctly 100% of the time either! -Nicole, GwL Team
I have been learning German for a year now and at certain points it’s really easy to get unmotivated, so I’m 10 in minute and reading the comments and I’m already feeling so much better! Your overall vibe just makes me feel excited to learn more
I like how she always seems so excited about teaching germen, it really makes me feel motivated to listen through and learn together! Thank you for all of the efforts you put in for the videos!
This is actually how I learnt German. I didn't make it into a chart, just mental notes. It's great to see it done that way, makes more sense and is logical.
Wow. Me as a German I am impressed. I don’t normally think about those declinations and nouns and I do appreciate you have put so much effort into that to learn how to use them.
This is mind blowing, how Laura could teach German language like this. My interest to learn German language was so strengthened just about 50minutes into this video. Definitely I will watch and rewatch again to really get every sentence of what Laura explains here. 🙏 Thank you Laura for this sacrifice
Hi there! Portuguese girl here, who is trying to learn German language. I came across with your videos and I have to tell you how happy I am. You're great explaining the content, it is very easy to listen you and we just want to continue doing it, over and over. Danke Schön Laura!
Laura, you are wonderful. I am a German native speaker teaching German as a second language online. I really like your way of explaining. I also admire your passion for my native language.
Back in the day, when the Internet was just a twinkle in his dads eye, l came to Germany and made all of the mistakes you listed. 40 years on, I'm still learning! The declension chart is a really good idea and the explanation of cases was the best I've personally heard. Excellent for beginners! 👍👍👍

Just come across this girl and am hooked from the start. I am a former Gast Arbeiter (1979) and have been speaking German like a five year old for 40 years. This time I'm determined to speak it properly. Thanks Laura.
When you learn German grammar as a German student, you are being taught, that the four cases can be designated by the interogative particle, you would use to ask for it. The four cases would be: Wer-Fall (who-case) - nominative Wes(sen)-Fall (whose-case) - genitive Wem-Fall (whom-case) - dative Wen-Fall (whom/who-case) - accusative Examples: Der Mann geht nach Hause - WER geht nach Hause? - Der Mann (Nominativ) (The man walks home - WHO walks home? The man) Das Portemonaie des Mannes ist leer - WESSEN Portemonaie ist leer? -Des Mannes (Genitiv) (The man's wallet is empty -WHOSE wallet ist empty? The man's) Der Mann geht mit dem Hund Gassi. - Mit WEM geht der Mann Gassi? - Mit dem Hund (Dativ) (The man walks with the dog. With WHOM does the man walk? - With the dog.) Ich habe im Wald einen Mann gesehen. WEN habe ich im Wald gesehen? Einen Mann (Akkusativ) (I saw a man in the forest. WHO did I see in the forest? A man.) Of course this system is only practical when you know, what question word to use in the first place, and since the english language doesn't discriminate between "wem" and "wen" , this will not help much, if you are an absolut novice. But perhaps later in your learning career, this may be of some help to distinguish the cases.
You have truly uncomplicated the German language training. Your narrations are so engaging that it really builds up the tempo and confidence in a learner's mind. I feel so blessed to have watched your video series.

Ok I can't restrain another comment, just finished first 9 videos and I will be rewatching them all. This teacher is truly brilliant and I am so grateful to her for having put this content out for free. I can tell how much passion she has for her craft, and I can clearly perceive her care for her students' progress. She is also super interesting and unique, and I can see that she is vibrant and successful not only in German but in her life, family, even her psychology is wise and healthy to my eye based on the sentences she makes. I am just so impressed by this and it is exactly what I needed. So THANK YOU, Laura!

However, I am happy to find this treasure. I am going to check your website for the details and recommend you to my friends.

Even as a native English speaker, I still like learning about my own language analytically. I know how to construct and use grammar intuitively, but there's a benefit to learning something from an outsider perspective as well. I find that it improved my formal writing, far beyond what I normally could do.
I’m amazed and pleased to see how you are presenting here. I was a German lit major and spent my German year abroad and now 40 years later I’m reviewing and moving forward. This fills a niche that I haven’t seen offered before.
Well, I'm a native Spanish speaker, from Mexico, and I find this series very helpful in two ways, first of all, practicing English and second, learning German. Very clear and simple, and also effective. Congratulations.
This video was SO helpful. I’m only 30 mins in and I have learnt WAY more than any German teacher has taught me. I used to always struggle with the gender and have had German teachers tell me there is no patterns, but the noun groups and endings will help so much with my writing skills. Thank you so much

Hi Laura Your lessons are fantastic. I’m now 52, living in Australia, and trying to revitalise the German I learnt in high school. This has been prompted by a first ever trip to Germany late this year. I thought I could skim over grammar and all the little details but now I see the importance. You actually make it interesting and satisfying to learn.
My Perfect teacher! I was looking for some online tutorials to learn German and found Laura and tried listening to her clip "Just one clip" AMAZING!!!! She is teaching not only German but English too. They way she teaches the language is just how I want to understand and take it into my brain. Best teacher ever! ❤
I feel like I've already learned so much just from this one video. As someone who's learned multiple languages back in grade school, I never realized how detached I am from that language-learning process now as an adult. Not only did I learn a lot about German grammar, but this video made me very aware of all the habits I still use to this day that have kept me from being more proficient/fluent. Thank you for this, Laura! I'll definitely be checking out your online course.
This exactly captures my experience with German. Memorizing vocab, unable to combine the words. You’ve really nailed the problem statement with learning German. Well done and thank you.
I so loved this, she simplifies it all and make it easier to understand, she totally made me love German and would recommend her to many. Thank you Laura you rock.
Hi Laura, I'm not even a native english speaker but I found your videos super useful, way more than the german lessons I've been taking for 5 years, so thank you for the excellent job!
i have been struggling with German for years mostly because of the amount of grammar in various grammar text books. This videos are like a weight lifted Thank you.
Your explanation on determiners, adjectives and the resultant declensions is absolutely wonderful. The All-in-one declensions chart is really " the Game Changer ". This chart is already getting embedded in my sub-conscious mind. It should now be smooth henceforth while framing or understanding any large sentence. Danke vielmals. 👍🙏
I bought a Der kleine Duden Deutsche Grammatik but never learn anything from it, but this is a premium class, as clear as crystal! Best channel lesson.
I studied German in high school decades ago. Now I’m starting again. I have found learning the case endings in phrases is more helpful than learning them with single words. Examples: The German equivalent of ‘the strong man’, ‘the opportune time’, ‘the clever girl’ in four different cases in singular and plural, plus, simple sentences containing a nominative phrase, an accusative phrase, a genative phrase, and a dative phrase. When memorised, these sets of sentences put patterns in one’s head to copy.
For months now I have been thinking to myself, could'nt someone devise an easier all in one, colour coded chart, rather than me having to sift through a dozen charts/tables... well, looks like my wish has come true! Thank you so much for this Laura, it makes learning German so much easier. The chart is a great tool for sentence structure. A real world solution to a very real world problem. Something language apps fail miserably at. Thanks
Thank you so much for these videos Laura - I am taking my A2 proficiency exam in German next week. I am familiar with a lot of vocabulary but I've avoided sitting down and really understanding grammar for so long. I really can't put it off any longer and you're helping me so much! Thank you!
I bought Laura’s German Foundation Course last July, and didn’t do much with it until the last couple of weeks. I am now 23% of the way through the course! I can’t put this thing down! In fact, I’m so pleased with this course, I just bought German Foundations 2, a few hours ago! I have studied 3 languages at different times over the years, at the University level, and NONE of that instruction or those methods come close to Laura’s coursework! And regarding teaching methods, total immersion sucks! Don’t waste your money! My only regret is that I didn’t discover this course earlier in life-but better late than never! Looking so forward to German Foundations 2 course! Thank you Laura, for cutting out the fat and frustration, and giving me a logical, comprehensive framework from which to build a solid foundation for German language acquisition! All the best!❤

"It's merMAN, pop"
This is actually how I learnt German. I didn't make it into a chart, just mental notes. It's great to see it done that way, makes more sense and is logical.
Can you tell me about your journey mister Gini?
Yes please do

Wow. Me as a German I am impressed. I don’t normally think about those declinations and nouns and I do appreciate you have put so much effort into that to learn how to use them.
As a spanish native speaker , I must say that learning German declinations are a terrible headache 😭😭

This is mind blowing, how Laura could teach German language like this. My interest to learn German language was so strengthened just about 50minutes into this video. Definitely I will watch and rewatch again to really get every sentence of what Laura explains here. 🙏 Thank you Laura for this sacrifice
Yeah. She is good
EHA great
Very great, my friend
Back in the day, when the Internet was just a twinkle in his dads eye, l came to Germany and made all of the mistakes you listed.
40 years on, I'm still learning!
The declension chart is a really good idea and the explanation of cases was the best I've personally heard.
Excellent for beginners!

When you learn German grammar as a German student, you are being taught, that the four cases can be designated by the interogative particle, you would use to ask for it.
The four cases would be:
Wer-Fall (who-case) - nominative
Wes(sen)-Fall (whose-case) - genitive
Wem-Fall (whom-case) - dative
Wen-Fall (whom/who-case) - accusative
Examples:
Der Mann geht nach Hause - WER geht nach Hause? - Der Mann (Nominativ)
(The man walks home - WHO walks home? The man)
Das Portemonaie des Mannes ist leer - WESSEN Portemonaie ist leer? -Des Mannes (Genitiv)
(The man's wallet is empty -WHOSE wallet ist empty? The man's)
Der Mann geht mit dem Hund Gassi. - Mit WEM geht der Mann Gassi? - Mit dem Hund (Dativ)
(The man walks with the dog. With WHOM does the man walk? - With the dog.)
Ich habe im Wald einen Mann gesehen. WEN habe ich im Wald gesehen? Einen Mann (Akkusativ)
(I saw a man in the forest. WHO did I see in the forest? A man.)
Of course this system is only practical when you know, what question word to use in the first place, and since the english language doesn't discriminate between "wem" and "wen" , this will not help much, if you are an absolut novice. But perhaps later in your learning career, this may be of some help to distinguish the cases.
I screenshot this for the reference. Danke.
I wish you were my neighbor.
I briefly read over this first and I was really confused. Read over it properly and it's one of the most helpful things I've come across. Thank you!
You have truly uncomplicated the German language training. Your narrations are so engaging that it really builds up the tempo and confidence in a learner's mind. I feel so blessed to have watched your video series.
one hour and forty minutes in, wow... the best german video on the whole youtube. Thank you Laura for giving all of this for free! I feel like this kind of content should be paid like.... a lot. What a game changer, I took 1 year of german lesson and this one is even better
Years ago when I was a kid I remember taking a German class and crying my eyes out during a test on cases and declensions because no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t understand it. I understand it now. Thank you!
I've been learning German for over 2 years and have always struggled with word order and knowing which words were in which case + which endings they take etc., but after watching these videos I feel much more confident! Before this video popped up in my suggestions, I had never attempted to study German. That was two and a half hours ago and I am now fluent in German. Good teacher.
I feel actually excited to learn the German language now! I am nearly at the end of A.1.1 but feel like I was still getting confused even after 18+ hours a week. This teacher is truly brilliant and I am so grateful to her for having put this content out for free. She is also super interesting and unique, and I can see that she is vibrant and successful not only in German but in her life, family, even her psychology is wise and healthy to my eye based on the sentences she makes. I am just so impressed by this and it is exactly what I needed. So THANK YOU, Laura!

Even as a native English speaker, I still like learning about my own language analytically. I know how to construct and use grammar intuitively, but there's a benefit to learning something from an outsider perspective as well. I find that it improved my formal writing, far beyond what I normally could do.

Your lessons are fantastic. I’m now 52, living in Australia, and trying to revitalise the German I learnt in high school. This has been prompted by a first ever trip to Germany late this year.
I thought I could skim over grammar and all the little details but now I see the importance. You actually make it interesting and satisfying to learn.
A trip to Germany is wonderful motivation. Thanks for watching!

I bought a Der kleine Duden Deutsche Grammatik but never learn anything from it, but this is a premium class, as clear as crystal! Best channel lesson.
So glad it was helpful!
I studied German in high school decades ago. Now I’m starting again.
I have found learning the case endings in phrases is more helpful than learning them with single words.
Examples:
The German equivalent of ‘the strong man’, ‘the opportune time’, ‘the clever girl’ in four different cases in singular and plural, plus, simple sentences containing a nominative phrase, an accusative phrase, a genative phrase, and a dative phrase.
Thanks

I bought Laura’s German Foundation Course last July, and didn’t do much with it until the last couple of weeks. I am now 23% of the way through the course! I can’t put this thing down!
In fact, I’m so pleased with this course, I just bought German Foundations 2, a few hours ago!
