Like always, you explain so eloquently the way you see the world through the medium of photography and storytelling. Thank you for sharing these great photos with us!
This is a great video to close off August with. I love how you took something as simple as going to the beach and turned it into a philosophical discussion. Really enjoyed hearing your musings behind each photo.
Great Photos Teo! This was such an in depth look at how people and society view and use beaches. very interesting. I Loved the photo of the lonely chair and the kid play in the shallow water. My next video is actually at the beach also!
Very interesting video. It shows very well how the photographer takes everything in and sees the scene as a whole complex thing meanwhile the people are busy with themselves and do not even notice.
Interesting analysis. I particularly found the part about people being in pods to themselves something to which I could relate. I live in the US in North Carolina. We have a lot of sandy, relatively less commercial beaches than, for example, somewhere like Nice or Miami Beach. We get a lot of visitors to our beaches, many looking for some "solitude" and relaxation.
I love how you explain your perspective on how you interpret things, the way you find meaning in the most mundane things just amazes me! Amazing photos Teo!
I love 3:49 so much. The images in this video made me think about the whole pandemic situation. How everything seems so normal (because it still isn't where I live). And in 3:49 I see myself looking at the rest of the world as sort of the odd one out so that is a really special image to me. Great work, Teo.
Great video! The simplicity of this is what makes your analysis so compelling. The small things that are overlooked are often times the most interesting. Can’t wait for the next one!
You should come to Brighton (Sussex coast) well pretty much the whole south coast of England, the beach is a very interesting place for a photographer over here in the UK.
Awesome video Teo! These conceptual videos are quite inspiring and make me want to shoot similar scenes for comparison! I'm sure to make a video similar to it!
Fascinating video as I live on an Island and have been brought up with the sea and beaches. A big thumbs up. Having recently picked up a film camera in addition to mirrorless I do find your videos both interesting and helpful! I wonder whether the child with snorkel and mask (or whatever the new fangled contraption is ;) ) is searching for small translucent fish which are often found swimming in the shallows?
I really enjoy your keen observation on a normal, everyday place like the beach. It makes you see things differently. Btw how did you get that grain effect so good in your intro! (somewhere in the beginning of the video)
Sweet, glad you enjoyed it!🤗 Premiere Pro has an effect called "Noise HLS auto". In there change the noise to grain, add some percentage to the "lightness" (I think I had it set to 12%" and adjust the grain size to your liking (I believe I had it set to 2)👀🙌🏼 Ohh and adjust the animation according to your frame rate e.g. 25 for a 25fps video🙌🏼
@@teocrawford Hey thank you for explaining! I knew about "Noise HLS auto" but I never used it like you did so it helped! I also was wondering how you keep motivated to make video's. I have like multiple video's in the making but when I have the time to finish them, I always feel like procrastinating and I end up doing nothing 😂
I came across your account recently and really like your videos and all the photos you are taking. I really want to do more film photography but i don‘t know what’s the best way to develop and digitize all my photos. Are you doing it by yourself or do you have any recommendations how to do it (affordable)???
I like to drop by a local photography shop that develops films for 5€ (I'm actually sitting in the bus on the way to them right now hahah). A couple days later I pick up my negatives and then scan them myself at home. The shop can also scan, but that becomes really pricey, in my case at least🤷🏻♂️😅
I didn't really👀🤷🏻♂️ I usually only correct the white balance and do slight tonal adjustments on my film photos, so I guess the blue hue is the film :D
Yes, I edit them lightly. I convert them in NegativeLabPro so the conversion itself is already done by software and could be counted as editing I guess. More often than not NLP's auto White Balance doesn't satisfy me, so after conversion I usually correct the white balance and do little tonal tweaks to the photo.🙌🏼
Ahh thanks🙇🏻♂️ I just colour grade in Premiere🤷🏻♂️ The softness might come from an effect I used on the footage. Because the GX80's footage is a bit oversharpened I like to soften the footage by duplicating the layer, adding gaussian blur to the upper layer and setting the opacity to somewhere between 10% and 20%🙌🏼
@@teocrawford That’s a really neat trick, thank you for sharing how you get that soft look! Quick question, do you happen to use any luts to convert your log footage, or do you purely grade from lumetri scopes? Would be really cool for us to see your process too I honestly believe you’re really knowledgeable and your insights to photography give me a new perspective to the way i look at life! I’m really glad I came across your channel, keep it up and I’m really excited for your next video! Cheers
Not to trash on you personally, as I think your channel is filled with legit creativity in photography, but I have to comment on the pretentiousness of this video (as well as countless videos from other youtubers). You see, saying obvious things in a pensive manner, doesn't automatically give it meaning. "What do we see when looking at the beach? The sea and the sand, in the case of a sandy beach, ... or a lifeguard if the beach happens to bother for one. .. and fellow humans, this obviously depends on the beach you're visiting ... there were a lot of people and now I was adding another one to the bunch... " Any toddler knows this... it just seems like filler. "The beach is simultaneously a place of human gathering and social distancing. ... a place of relaxation and frustration..." Yeah, ok, so basically like any other place where people gather. You sound like an alien describing the experience of going to the beach in the most simple manner but then pretending that it's deep. I dunno, this all feels like endless and meaningless filler for a video. It could have been 4 times shorter. The shots are mostly great, as well as the visual editing, but goddam is the analysis/telling empty as hell. Anyways, they're your vids, your style, your choice. I'm just a viewer with an opinion. I thought some criticism was missing in the sea of praise of the cs.
Hey Raphael, absolutely legit criticism, thank you! I get your point and think that we might just be really different people haha. I see what you mean about the overexplaning of obvious things, but I often find value in just that. Due to things seeming obvious I don't further investigate or observe them, but once I do I notice how absurd or in other ways interesting these things are. The example you chose: Well yes obviously that is what the beach is, but isn't that strange? I'm often fascinated by how weird our human behaviours are. And that's what I mean, when assuming that we are pretty different people. I guess you don't feel the fascination I do when realizing the absurdity of us humans. I've often been told actually that it's funny how easy it is to entertain or impress me... it's just the way I am I guess. Anyway I hope I could in some way present a different perspective to you... maybe you understand me know😅 Thank you for keeping the criticism constructive, this seems to have become rare...🙇🏻♂️
@@teocrawford Hey Teo, first, I respect that you replied. You know, now that you put it that way, I actually don't think that we're different people. I, too, take joy in observing how weird things are. For example, in a music club I sometimes think that it's nothing but a certain arrangement of lights, sound, and people. Remove any one of those elements and the setting is ruined. If you haven't already, I recommend you read Sartre or anything on Existentialism. Sartre would write how strange riding the tram actually is: here he was, sitting on a wooden chair that came from a cut-down tree from some forest, riding around in a contained room through the streets, all while being planted on a huge rock circling a massive random fireball in space. So yes, I am likewise entranced by the absurdity of human behavior and this great game we find ourselves in. Perhaps it's for this reason that I found your descriptions in the vid somewhat empty, because I also partake in this type of thinking, so to me it seems repeated? Anyways, it was nice to read your response. Like I said in the first comment, your video/photo shots are on point, same goes for your editing. Best.

how did you edit the photos to being out the beautiful blue hue?

how do you get that pastel look on your film photos? Is it edited that way in post or just straight from being developed?
I guess it's a mixture of both🤷🏻♂️ I don't do heavy editing on the colours so it's probably a bit of both sides🤔
