    Following this. I am softening an acrylic cot blanket for a 5 month old baby. But jeez its a heavy blanket when I’m trying to rinse it all out 😂. About 20 minutes away from rinsing out the conditioner and putting it in for a delicate wash in the machine.

    I found that you don’t really need to block acrylic yarn products, laying it flat to dry is just fine

      the edges of this scarf just kept curling in so I did it as a precaution

    I was wondering. Instead of using shampoo and conditioner, could I use liquid Downey fabric softener in cold water in the sink?
    Thank you

      Softener works so much better than this conditioner method.

      If it’s all acrylic yarn, then just laying out flat to dry should be sufficient.

    I’ve noticed that when I crochet squares (not granny squares just regular squares using the chain and single crochet) they end up being a bit stiff. Would this method work to make them loosen up or do you know how to loosen it up? I’d really like to not have to start all over since I made so many already 😅

    • @LetsGetKnitFaced
      @LetsGetKnitFaced  3 года назад +5

      Wool is one of the more fragile fibers, any heat or friction will ruin it so I recommend washing by hand in cold water with just some conditioner! Wool won’t change much with that but the acrylic /cotton should absorb it. No washing machine- air dry! And wool loves blocking so do that if you can.

    I have a multi-colored sweater that’s 70% acrylic and 30% wool but I would like it to be a lighter color overall, what could I use to do this? I read that bleach will melt the wool

    So everytime you wash a Knitted/Crocheted project using whatever yarn, you need to block the garmet? I've never blocked before and I'm geniunely curious how this is done
