Before setting off on a visit to see mum in Filey I checked the sea forecast and it looked promising. When I got there, I wasn't wrong!

Great video Karl as always. I know you will have already mentioned this at some point but could you tell me what you are using to record your distance and speed please? Many thanks
@@PaddlesPathsandPixels thank you 👍
I use one of these amzn.to/3LmCMkZ
@@MoreThanJustaCleaner ta v much
@@PaddlesPathsandPixels y welcome
@@MoreThanJustaCleaner managed to pick one up off eBay. Looking forward to trying it out in the water. Thanks for sharing
lovely Filey, nice little video.
Cheers John 👍
Karl that looked calm and a lovely time out well done
i picked my Deschutes 130 up yesterday and travelled to the south coast but on arrival it was windy blowing 15+ so i bottled it
but went up the river that evening to give it a go and was very impressed
will need to put my gel seat in and get a 250 long paddle, but happy with it
Gel seats are the future.
That's great Steve. I really want to try the 130.
@@MoreThanJustaCleaner we will catch up one day mate and have a paddle
@@StevesOutdoorCameraAdventures0 sounds good😊
Lovely relaxing video Karl, thank you.
You're welcome 👍😁
Lovely day.
Absolutely! :D
Your using the deschutes 130? I've have it out twice. Google sycamore creek tn if you want to see some pictures I posted there. Like it so far.
@@JKTF476 I've got the 110. Like I say, I love it 😁 although I would love to try the 130 just to see if it yaws as much as the 110. But even though the 110 yaws a bit it still cuts through the water and moves well 👍😁
👍
👍😊
New Crocs? 👍🏻👍🏻😁
I've had them a year. They're cheap Lakeland knock offs. Not worth the money! 😅
Need to do a bit of fishing.
I'll have to get a rod 😁
Also Karl what make of gorilla mount did you use please
I use these amzn.to/4cemlCL
I would like to see someone add marine foam in the bottom of this kayak (around the thwart), put velcro for the seat and test it! It’s not convenient if you take the bus to carry the inflatable kayak, but it might be an easy way to add safety when you carry it in your car if you paddle alone far in a national park where there is nobody else to help you if you encounter any trouble with the valves, puncture, etc. Plus, it must increase the buoyancy (which means you can carry more luggage!) I put pool noodles in the front and in the back of mine… I feel a bit safer when I know there is 100 feet of - sometimes cold - water under me! If I decide to swim, these « toys » can also help me get back in! Well, just my thought…
Have you not seen my re-entry video with this craft. It's really easy to get back in from the water.
And it's funny you say about the taking it on a bus because that's exactly what I did in the video before this one where I paddled Boroughbridge and York.
I'm not sure why you would want to add extra buoyancy. It's really not an issue. Although I do appreciate taking safety precautions 👍😁
Love the crocs! new?🤪 lovely paddle but seeing the cliff erosion is scary especially with the buildings so close and precarious!!
@@caz-nbgalatea1528 Nooo! They're crap crocs - Lakeland knock offs. I hardly wear them because they're so thin, and crap 😅 They're actually a size bigger than I normally wear because I bought them to wear over the drysuit bootees. I give them an airing once in a while.
As for erosion... It's not that long ago (20 to 30yrs) Holbeck Hotel fell down the cliff in Scarborough.
The only thing stopping it happening now quickly is the clay is on a limescale bedrock; even so, that eventually sucuumbs to the sea.
@@MoreThanJustaCleaner I saw it, but I have asthma unfortunately. If the kayak ever deflates quickly and my asthma kicks in, it might be harder for me to get back to the shore than for someone else.
Actually, I’m just looking for an inexpensive way to make it more robust, more « Chelan-like » ! Advanced Elements sell models with optional dropstitch floors. I would get one if it was available for the Deschutes!
In Canada, it can be 10°C at night then increase to 32°C during the day! I’m extra-precautious when I paddle alone and I paddle alone sometimes! Exercise is always better than sedentary Lifestyle. (Sorry for my bad English, my first language is French.)
@@GreatGreenRiver your English is fine 👍😊
I'm asthmatic too so I understand your concerns. You've got to do whatever you feel is going to help you be safe 😁
