- Medfield State Hospital, originally the Medfield Insane Asylum, is a historic former psychiatric hospital complex at 45 Hospital Road in Medfield, Massachusetts, United States. The asylum was established in 1892 as the state's first facility for dealing with chronic mental patients. The college-like campus was designed by William Pitt Wentworth and developed between 1896 and 1914. After an era dominated by asylums built using the Kirkbride Plan, Medfield Insane Asylum was the first asylum built using the new Cottage Plan layout, where instead of holding patients in cells, they would be integrated into a small community and work a specific job.[2] It was formally renamed "Medfield State Hospital" in 1914.

Yeeeerrrrrpp! I say it with you every time!! Haha much ❤ Josh from Australia! You really need to come here x
Only a good date spot if you’re taking a history buff or architect
I used to transport patients in ambulances there before they closed, Medfield, Taunton and the old Metro State in Waltham, talk about seeing some crazy stuff back in he day. Glad to see Medfield has been saved some what now...Not many of these old state hospital campuses around any more.
Glass blocks are still available. They use them at laundromats, basements and industrial buildings. I live in a brick house and we have 2 large glass block windows and 1 has a built in vent window. They are pricy but when you want to let in light and need it to be structurally sound and support weight then you go with glass blocks.
I remember when you explored this place the first time all those years ago. You're so grown up now Josh! I really liked watching how things have changed at the hospital since then.
Thank you for sharing this! Would love to see you cover more filming locations, as someone wanting to work in the TV and Film Industry showing the shots of real life vs the film shot as that's so interesting how different it looks!
I just LOVE psych hospitals! Awesome video!
That was fun! I liked you showing, and acting out, parts of the movie and where the scenes were.
Hi Josh, I remember you filming here, this was a cool look around at what's there.
Thank you for sharing, much love. xx 💖
I live in MA and this video inspired me to plan a trip to go here next week. Can’t wait!!!
Yessss, totally with it! We’re still explorers! You still do some exploring on here. even just food critiquing, that’s still exploring in a sense. Its just exploring the culinary field.
11:09 *"I walked those same path bro" - It all makes sense now. Josh got a lobotomy.*
Hey, this is where you brought Adam The Woo the other week. It's so cool to see it every time.
Thank you for showing us where they film the shutter island
I'm so jealous. I would LOVE to visit this place! The history and what those walls have seen is just amazing! Keep up the awesome videos.
Wow that’s so cool. I loved shutter island! I’m glad the public is aloud to enjoy the grounds. Looks like a beautiful place. Thanks for showing us again, I look forward to your videos every week 💙
I live about an hour away from Medfield! It’s such an awesome place to go. I remember watching a video of you going here a longgg time ago. Awesome video Josh!!

Super excited to see the “bus tour”! I love just joshing content just as much as exploring or beyond. 🤩
We need to keep many aware of these treasured places. Very good background info on the site, Josh.
😇💜 Hi Josh, I appreciate you sharing this adventure with us.
I L 💜 VE History in general, and learning about the History of this place.🤗💜 Now that I think about it, I think I remember you exploring this place, a few years ago.🤗💜
Take Care My friend, also I wanted to mention that, I have been watching your videos for six years now.🤗
So happy to see they are keeping the old buildings alive.
Josh I hope that you show us a plantation. I absolutely love the asylum hands down my favorite especially when you do all the history on it. Thank you for the amazing content much love
This has been sitting in my "Watch Later", just waiting for a moment to be able to appreciate it the most. Now sitting here watching it, I started having idea's of horror movies that I could write to be made in that location. Would love to see it in person one day.
That's interesting that they built the archway and staircase just for the movie. And it's crazy how different and old that pathway looks now compared to the movie scene. I like how you put cinematic shots In between the talking shots. Great video 🙂
Ayyy i was just here a few weeks ago for a car show and decided to explore a bit too! Dope spot, shame you can't get inside though 😥
Shutter Island is one of my fav movie, just a weird scene the lady drank a glass of water but i dont see any water
The ghosts from both sides meeting in the middle of church and morgue 💀👀 after the completion of the project
Wow this was really interesting Josh. Thanks for sharing your videos in the USA these are very educational in the UK I’d never of known about this otherwise. Keep up the great work that you do and I hope to see you back in the UK soon with the rest of the boys 🥰🥰🇬🇧
Josh, just so you know, they do still make glass blocks. Just look it up online, many hardware stores have them in different styles. I know you like them, you've mentioned it numerous times on your other channel.
Would love to see you return to the Conjuring house and see if the new owner has experienced anything. Maybe the property changing hands might've stirred up some activity!
Really enjoy this channel. Keep up the great work!
The sign the reads "remember us" is also in shutter Island...just made of brass or some kind of metal but same exact wording.
If walls could talk huh Josh? What would they really tell! Great and beautiful place

No one ever mentions the orderlies, some who were convicts in a pre release program. They were locked up every evening. Nicest guys and very caring to the patients.

The drones might checking for a cemetery with special sonar equipment.
Burn or scalding? You straight away dunk your finger in glass of ice cube/ cold water, go home apply some toothpaste on it, take painkiller tablets.

Massachusetts 💪🏽 We got alotta oddities and ghouls 😈
Cool.
Never been to a vid this early, damn.
This place really remind me of the old asylum in my town. Knowend to have the biggest record of lobotomy’s in whole Europe.
Not abandoned today tho, instead they turned it into a high school, elder home, dentist and other government owned stuff in all of the like 20+ buildings.
Still haunted as fuck. 😅
If someone asked me on a date to abandon buildings I would be so excited!
hi Josh and your friend good to see you guys hope you guys be safe out there 🙏🙏 hope to see more videos that video is so creepy 😱 😱 ❤️ you guys like the video
