He sounds so nice, down-to-earth, real, pure and human. He was so gifted and talented. So sad he did not find a way out. Still find it very sad that he is gone.
He was nothing but himself. So unpretentious ... I find that I usually can't sit through interviews of designers but I've never had a problem listening to him talk about fashion because it is what it is. It's clothes "it won't cure cancer".
vindemiatrix He was pretentious AF (just like his shows), since he wanted people to see him as a genius. Lol as if he was making the cure to cancer when he was just making unwrreable clothez
GodBlessAmerica 2018 He clearly was genius. And if you couldn’t wear his clothes it’s because you didn’t have the aura and the confidence to do so sweetie. The joke is on you. Now go back to parading around in your beige H&M trousers while trying to critique people with actual taste. You’re dismissed.
I had the honour of meeting Alexander McQueen twice! At both times I did not know who he was and did not recognise him! His stare or the way he looked at you was so intense! I was petrified of him and completely speechless! He was so talented!

One of the most amazing and creative forces in fashion, and a fantastic, real, and unpretentious soul. He was lightyears ahead of his time.... and will always be one of the most incredible designers ever. R.I.P. Lee... you are extremely loved and missed.
I had the pleasure of working with Alexander McQueen at London fashion week as part of his hair team and he was a true inspiration and so very creative. It will taKe a very long time for the fashion industry to find such innovative creatiVity again... he lost his life because of the death of his mother and that was his choice. I hope he can look down and realise the great legacy that he chose to leave behind.. R.I.P and thankyou for what you brought to all fashion too
a friend of mine [ les child ] choreographed quite a few of his shows in the 90s, he was close friends with McQueen x a great loss to the world of fashion, if only he had lived same I think with izzy blow if she had lived things would be so much better
@@jdb7752 I didn't realize they were still friends - thought they went their separate ways when he went to Givenchy. Nice to know they stayed in touch.
He died by suicide not because his mother died. He died from massive depression that he had had for many years. He was holding off on suicide because he knew it would destroy his mother. After his mother died, he gave himself the freedom to take his own life.
a boy from my our own city... london. what a talent....this bloke wouldnt hire kids from celeb families cos they fit the bill,!!!! RIP lee, a true true original XXXXXXX
The best thing about Lee was his honesty. He would laugh at all this applause. He was a genius, but he and we all knew that. He hated fashion but had to engage with it. I wish he was still here.
Rudi Gernreich nor McQueen is the OG Rebel of Fashion. That title belongs to someone before the silly name tag 'Rebel' was bandied about. HER name: Elsa Schaparelli.
I think his clothes were to be seen at the MET Gala. And I wonder.if his mother gave the money that he needed to pay for everything? And when she died? He wouldn't be able to continue his craft? But so what if he was on drugs? That's a very mean thing to say about a fantastic designer! ❤😢❤
Seems quite clear from this interview he was frustrated with arrogance, the pompous attitudes of high society and the scrutiny by severity that came attached to his efforts of creating beautifully designed clothes, and the distractions of harsh judgment, of a rebel, placed on him, even laughable as he were trying to do so. It also seems, beneath the vibrant smile, some amount of insecurity/uncertainty, not feeling entirely confident in his own skin, so unfortunate, as he had every reason to find his own confidence. If only he had the anchor of strength preventing him from taking his own life, he would have been around more years making or influencing fashion, as he really was great, at it, with it. From there, the hope he would’ve made it to the afterlife and at that point, there would definitely have been, no uncertainty and full confidence. Hopefully he will find Rest In Peace, tragic end, beautiful life story of sorts.
its seems obvious from on the other side of his life that he did not believe 90% of what he just said. he would have been a killer conceptual designer/visionary for hollywood. however his fashion is just not clothing for actually wearing.not if u have to do shyt for a living. which makes it pointless in the twilight of capital.
+the EQUATION Yes. I think he could never quite reconcile the purity of his art with the fickleness of the fashion industry. As much as he claimed "it's just clothes", he was extraordinarily sensitive to criticism of his work. The industry is relentless and sucks dry the designers that give it life. Lee was bursting with creativity and a real visionary but it was tempered by the rules and restrictions of an industry that operates on dollars, cents and "the next best thing". I would've loved to see Lee change media to, as you suggested, something like conceptual design or architecture or something that didn't run like a hamster wheel out of control, going faster and faster until it broke down.
@orangewedges I see his clothes for something "ALWAYS," for the MET Gala. I now wonder if his mother financially spent money for his work? I am looking up all the designers? And I bet his mother continually paid for Lee's designs? I dunno?
He asked to be interviewed with his back to the camera because he was using governmental money for unemployment and was afraid to get caught 🙄 if you wanna talk about him do something call research 😂
Imagine calling someone who killed himself selfish because he killed himself. If there’s any god that created us, I thank him for not making me this fucking stupid.
