This was an absolute banger piece of content. I feel like you just went through 20 years of esports bullshit in one video. Great job thorin. Rich and Fitch are both dope guests too. Love how hard Rich went and he didn't hold back. Those two gained fans for life with this one.
I'll admit that I was one of the people who didn't like Rich purely based on his tweets, which is a fault of my own. Hearing him in this sort of a format really just highlighted my mistake in that, but also made me really interested in what other work he has done on the scene. Does anybody have any recommendations of work from Rich?
Haha shoutout to crypto crew at 1:04:20. Thorin nails it. Crypto's biggest strength is that investors are bought in. Crypto's biggest weakness is that investors are bought in. It's the ultimate skin in the game engine. Understand that premise, then do your research.
"Rosetta Stone", aka the first ever Ancient Egyptian artefact to be completely translated, thereby paving the path to fully read Ancient Egyptian literature. A magnificent feat in archaeology. After watching this till the end, you are absolutely right, this is the Rosetta Stone of Esport Corruption, because it paves the way for any viewer to piece together why past events were forms of corruption / lack of fair play, and how you can crack open any future cases of obvious corruption in this field.
To be honest, as Thorin said...I have zero idea about some of these topics.. this one included.. but for some reason it is a very interesting listen.. fairly educational too.
About the LS part, i had no idea he got banned for anything like that but thats terrible. If you want to say "you" in korean you would say 니가 and that does sound somewhat like the N word. like Thorin eluded to, but banning someone over another foreign language is mental
I cheated in shooters in the past, was never angry over other cheaters, more like "sad" and "disappointed". I never cheated in competitive modes, in pugs - fuck yes. I was that kid who speedhacked the shit out of pug sever, running with knife and/or shooting legs from a glock to knife later. I am fairly confident that most people enjoyed and had fun over that shit. It was early CS 1.6 days. Now its so easy to see softhackers for me and it makes me so fucking sad.
At about 1:43:00. First thing I take issue with at this point of the vid: Adam, people are 'damaging the industry' by taking money from a behemoth company to write esports stories? Disagree with this one strongly. Enthusiast is a giant. Esports journalists earn fuck all. If I'm offered obscene fees to write esports stories I'm taking it, end of story. The 'industry' can course-correct. Second thing here: Rich's spiel about Fionn sounds bitter, sad, and desperate. Unless Fionn is in fact an awful human being, which doesn't seem to be the case, your vitriol just sounds like jealousy. "Hang on, I don't think he's that good but he's got 100k followers and is being paid a decent amount by Upcomer and has had success at ESPN?! I'm gonna shoot him down!!!". I think that's actually kind of cruel to do that here--certainly unnecessary. I agree the standard of writing in esports is shit, and I haven't actually read anything of Fionn's, but is that reason to just shit on him publicly for no reason? Like a few parts of this video, particularly the ECI part which I don't think deserves the amount of discussion it's stirred, it comes across as desperate. A lot of this video is insightful, but a lot of it is just words. People are desperate to have an opinion on stuff, and some things are best left unsaid.
Fionn is a very poor writer In my opinion. That's all. How you have extrapolated that I am 'bitter' or 'jealous' about Fionn is beyond me. I have zero personal beef with him and I have never been a journalist competing for opportunities with him? You call my criticism 'unnecessary' but you then state that you've never even read anything that Fionn's ever written! Calling out the ECI is 'desperate'? You also go on to criticize a literal podcast for being 'just words'. I don't remember the last time I saw this much projection in a youtube comment.
Can you explain your first point of why big companies paying journalist to write specific narratives is not corrupted? I cannot see the positives as it's basically a bribe to trick the public to align with the company goals. Like CDPR tricking the media so that no one knew that the game is broken so they can sell more copies. In this case it's media is simply paying journalist to sell something when it's the job of the journalist to report the truth. Not trying to attack, just wanting to know the positives.
@@RichsWrath on the end of your first paragraph: yes, I was referring to the way you went about it. I don’t need to have read him to think your comments sounded bitter-which they did, as you did throughout the entire video, which probably informed my point. The only person ‘projecting’ anything here is you. And what am I projecting? You projected your own bitterness/insecurity throughout the entire video and spent half the time trying to sound smart with little substance. ECI point: stringing this tired narrative along that what they did was a sin against humanity is to my mind part of a larger problem with this video: there’s a lot of talking for the sake of talking which occasionally comes across as desperate. The ECI stuff should’ve been put to bed ages ago. It wasn’t even that bad (was a bit of a faceplant, nothing more). Why are we still talking about it? 3rd para: whatever, don’t be a smart arse, you know full well what I mean
@@DASUPERCATMAN1 big companies paying journalists to write specific narratives wasn’t the point. What I was referring to isnt corruption; we were talking about someone being legitimately employed by Upcomer to write stories. My argument is that if someone is offered a lot of money to write for Enthusiast Gaming (massive company that owns Upcomer), they should take it, and more power to them. The ‘industry’ isn’t paying for that, Enthusiast is paying. If Enthusiast shutters Upcomer because they’ve been careless maybe that’s in fact good for the industry (to play devil’s advocate)
Just look at the time-stamps and you'll understand why this is far from an ordinary piece of content.
Had me at "Right, this is gonna be"
Had me at “right”
Ok boss
Thorin and Rich need to do a regular show together. Their on camera chemistry is always super entertaining.
Isn't Thorin a reoccurring guest on his podcast?
I'm just imagining, Thorin, h2kRich and Richard Lewis on one podcast. Would be absolute nightmare fuel for lazerlips
Bruh? Ya trolling or serious?
@@DarkDog09 not the same guy wtf rich is h2krich and richard lewis is richard lewis

I love how Thorins camera is like full HD, meanwhile Rich seems like he is talking from the time where H2K is still alive :D
He who only stands against issues, upon noting the masses have already risen, should stay seated.
A light, casual chat! Hope it sheds some light on what we're up against in this industry.
Amazing epidode. Thanks thorin for creating it and thanks to the guests for participating
this is the encyclopedia of esports corruption
This is the encyclopedia whats wrong with western world not just esports. Bless these 3 individuals for articulating it all so well.
Looks like we got 8 banger episodes of Thorins Thoughts in one video, very nice
the banger of bangers
this and four horsemen are quickly becoming the most intriguing talkshows I listen to, keep it up big man

What a fire episode. You seriously cant find content like this elsewhere.
You like a banger before you watch it - love to see H2k Rich back
Easily the best Thorin content ever.
This is one of my favorite pieces of content you've put out in ages, and it's been banger-central lately.
Great video here.. I will need to watch it more than once for sure. Well done fellas
Timestamps alone signal that this is one of the most important and best pieces of content in esports.
Ready for this banger of an expose.
That this video only has 16k views is criminal.
Had to spread this out over a few sessions but this was a fascinating (if depressing) insight into some of the industry workings.
Extremely insightful and eye-opening. Thanks for the upload.

I love you Thorin, it feels so good sometimes to know that world didn't go completely mad.
I usually just watch CS:GO stuff on this channel, glad I watched this episode. Very insightful, excellent guests.
You always kill it with your content, but you've really been on a roll lately.
Praises to the algorithm
There is Fitch, Rich and a...Thorin :) Great content as always
Great work as always !
This could be a recurring pay per view show, it's that good
Absolutely banger episode
Rich is always a pleasant person to listen to.
Comment for the algorithm, keep up the great content!
Great video, very insightful.
Thooorin man I don't know if I can handle this much FIRE.
This is the banger of the banger of the bangers. Absolut mad one. I Loved having adam on aswell.

Another banger from thorin
Agree with Adam regarding cod league. Hurts me to hear study over Bryce.
Fantastic episode
Christ almighty. Thorin, Adam, and Rich dropping absolute bombshells on these cretins. And to think that Duncan hasn't even reached his peak...
My man on a roll
If I'm not mistaken Faker owns a share of T1, is this a problem similar to Bjergsen's case?
Being Korean does not change the situation.
0-42, nice Hitchhiker reference.
Banger of a video.
Thanks for the content
Comment for alg, great content

Knowing that this is just the tip of the iceberg of what you can reasonably say publicly is making me ill
Straight fire

Ooft, that spot where scoot usually is ;(
The contrast between thorin and Rich's camera quality lol
