    Rotate -x2 + 9 to 9 -×2 and it assumes the form of ( a+b) * ( a-b). So it becomes ( 3 + x) ( 3-x). Rotate the denominator to 3+×. Comutative property. The (3+×)'s cancel 3-× is all that's left.

    Oké, this one looks complex but is quite easy:
    - ( x² - 9 ) / ( x+ 3 ) = - ( x + 3 ) . ( x - 3 ) / ( x + 3 ) = - ( x - 3 ) = - x + 3

      @panlomito All indeed OK, except the ASSUMPTION that the "-x^2" means "-(x^2)". For that to be true, the "x^2" MUST be VISIBLY grouped. Because, so far as *I* know, NO convention exists for the meaning of the "-" in such situations, ie whether it is a sign or an operator.

    This CAN be factored, but ONLY if the "-x^2" is intended to mean "-(x^2)". Factoring is not possible when it is intended to mean "(-x)^2".
    This is a situation where grouping is a MUST for clarity, because simply ASSUMING that it means 1 or the other is an ass-maker.
    The video-maker, DESPITE his decades of experience as (maths?) teacher, simply skips over this point. THAT is why I give this video a thumbs-DOWN. 👎

      You are wrong. There is no ambiguity. By the order of operations exponents must be done before multiplication, so x must be first squared and then multiplied by -1 (which is what the negative sign in front of x means) If you intend to do the negative first then the problem would have been written (-x)^2

      @@rogeraffleck8677 Ahhh... this is where that (silly-&-ambiguous) PEMDAS or BODMAS or whatever MIGHT come into play. The thingie that, being a fairly-local mnemonic, is NOT GLOBALLY known & CERTAINLY NOT globally taught. (It is local to some countries.)
      But even then, the exponentiation is of the REST of the term, which can be either "-2" or "2" or "+2". And since NO grouping-symbols clarify the situation, the statement is ambiguous in the sense of that symbol representing a sign or an operator.
      Prove THIS POSITION wrong with an at-minimum GLOBALLY recognized convention, OK? Better yet, do so with a mathematically rigorous statement. For any such convention MUST be deducible from THAT, or be too ambiguous to be taken seriously.
