That is the coolest thing I've seen in a month. And I watch some crazy stuff. You seriously should market a cheap kit of some kind. I'd pay. I'm sure you could use a screen system to somewhat sort the shot sizes.
I don't see anything that Jeff Foxworthy would comment about. No-One I've Seen So Far is using a Metal Paint Roller Tray with a Piece of Angle Iron laid around the Inside of the the Tray and a Slab of Steel Lining the Bottom as the Heat Sink!!
Remington use to make turkey shot that was 2x4- 2x5 shot size called duplex worked great on turkey out to 40 yards out of my Rem 870, with a tight turkey choke .660 wished they would bring it back the shot was copper plated
Okay this is an old welding teacher in me less heay just enough to barley melt the Lead the Lead balls that drop need to make contact 3 times before they hit the water ps the water should be no more than 1/4" from that lip you will be very happy with it .
Hey Bob, Funny story, made this video years ago and was thinking practical, but came out ethical. Makes no sense don't feel like editing it. Thanks for viewing
I think you want something more viscous so the shot moves more slowly though the liquid as it goes to the bottom. I see people using fabric softener but have also heard ethylene glycol will do as well. Keep it moving with a bilge pump or aerator pump so it cools evenly.
Shot Inconstancy may be because of the Long Drip tray and a little to much heat. You may want to angle your Torch a bit further back on the Tray.
If you want consistency with what you got, just run them through a screen, I like this, you have variety of sizes that way
I love it! Thats how I melted my first batch of lead. With a weed burner
Set up the dripper up higher. The lead shot needs time to fall and form into balls

Thanks,
Was a fun little project I did with junk I had laying around lol.
Did you make your dripper bolt? If so what size did you drill it to? Good job, it worked! Now all you need is to fine tune it...
You did a lot better then me! I was impressed
Lol think what helped me most was the chalking the slide, wanted to try a grooved slide to see if that would roll a better ball.
Looks like the shot Winchester puts in their shells.
I wonder what's "not very ethical" about making your own shot.
Me too
How did you make your drippers? What could I use to make my own
increase the drop to 3 feet or so, they should come out round. Then get sieves to grade out the sizes.
This is correct. There is a reason for shot TOWERS.
What did you use to stop sticking to the metal ramp ?

Sort it with various sizes of screen. Viola! The iconsistency problem is solved.
Get some height for the drop to form into a sphere. Look into how shot towers worked
I drilled the holes with a #69 drill bit which came out to about a .028 hole.
best one so far. Yo gave me a good idea

Lawrence makes copper plated shot #4-#7 when available, copper plating does help alot
simplicity is always good.
You could grade the shot with meshes... then empty each layer to Grade to more consistent shot.
hello
which kind of plate u r using and lead is not pasting on it.
please confirm me.
NADEEM BUTT I was using regular mild steel 4140 or close to it, sanded smooth and coated with soap stone or chalk for the ramp
Okay this is an old welding teacher in me less heay just enough to barley melt the Lead the Lead balls that drop need to make contact 3 times before they hit the water ps the water should be no more than 1/4" from that lip you will be very happy with it .
I want to buy this
HOW match
What size shot?
Looks like #6
What do you mean that it is 'not very ethical?' I see nothing unethical about making your own shot.
