    What are the selection criteria for their evolution?

      Looking at the code, version 3.1, main.cpp, there is a block of code labeled "mutations and strange". That is where you can find the exact means of mutation: rand() % Smutation == 0&&I_Mut. The I_Mut appears to be a logical switch that allows the user to turn on and off this feature. So I think mutation is really just "rand() % Smutation == 0"
      But I've only glanced at the code.
