Exceptional video, thank you for building it! Looking forward to my 63rd trip to hunt pheasant in your state! This year in Timber Lake area, paws crossed that corn will be out of the fields! 🙏☺️🥾🤠
Good to see an icon doing what I love to do. I'm finally a SD resident and was blessed to be chasing wild roosters this past season. But with 4 blizzards this winter so far, I'm afraid we've lost a good number of birds.
I'm glad our elected officials, at least some of them, aren't affraid to advertise that they're hunters. It's good for the state. I just wish they'd call a spade a spade. There's a huge difference between the wild birds you hunt & the pen reared birds they hunt. Every video I've ever seen of a SD politician hunting pheasants has been pen birds, released only days, if not hours, before their hunt. But whatever. Keep those videos coming!
pheasant population in NON RELEASED (wild) birds have dropped over 40% since 12 years ago in South Dakota. Reasons? well several areas, 7 corn, and the farm bill that aided in 7 corn and 16 beans. 500 HP tractors which was fueled by the farm bill crop insurance. Drain Tiling and draining of sloughs(many done illegally in the the farm bill but its local enforcement) driven from the farm bill that is for the agi part. We need to get back to a balanced farm bill. And get back to CRP for wildlife and less for Ag. This year in SD the governor released 100% of the crp for haying, which is going to hurt our pheasant and deer population next year. We need to remember preserves and guide release pen raised pheasants as its their business model. A common kid and family member can't afford 1500 pheasant hunt.
I loved watching this, but this kind of hunting is an impossible dream for most people. If I ever make it to SD, I'll be in a hotel for a week and driving to public CRP. There will be birds, but not like this video

Where these guys are hunting is only for millionaires, lookup the Paul Nelson hunting lodge and the price tag.
