Remaining a duke when his brother ascends the throne would actually give him a good deal more privacy and freedom, while still having the security and support of the palace. The man is a fool. I think he's already done permanent damage to his relationship with the family. He may come back, if he and Meghan divorce - but he'll never be given a working royal role again.

Whatever people think of the Royal Family it cannot be denied that they DO pay their way, in lots of different ways. Quite apart from the ‘tourism revenue’ the fact they shine a light on various charities means those charities are able to help thousands, yes, thousands of people. Without the RF to shine a light on them the charities would dwindle away and those people would be abandoned. There are several countries in the commonwealth who have ‘opted’ into it, they get a voice at various tables (trade conventions etc) around the world they would otherwise not ‘have a voice ‘ at if not for the RF. The RF can’t be ‘lobbied’ the way our politicians can, they don’t have to worry about pleasing certain factions so they can be reelected again in 5 years. They’re not perfect, no-one is, but ‘they do not bare all about other family members, they don’t complain about their imagined hardships etc. They just get on with things, I believe they give us a stability and continuity we would not otherwise have. The most stable Europeans / Scandinavian countries are those with monarchies. Our media are appalling, they rarely report on any of the good things the RF are doing but print everything about the 2 in California at the drop of a hat. This is affecting the charities the RF are working with. I saw nothing in the mainstream media about the King and Queen visiting the Channel Islands but there was plenty about Harry getting a totally undeserved award. Please please don’t allow Harry back into the fold, he will always find a way to be disruptive and will do no good for the RF or the charities they help. He’s absolutely bang on about education in this country.

Whatever people think of the Royal Family it cannot be denied that they DO pay their way, in lots of different ways. Quite apart from the ‘tourism revenue’ the fact they shine a light on various charities means those charities are able to help thousands, yes, thousands of people. Without the RF to shine a light on them the charities would dwindle away and those people would be abandoned. There are several countries in the commonwealth who have ‘opted’ into it, they get a voice at various tables (trade conventions etc) around the world they would otherwise not ‘have a voice ‘ at if not for the RF. The RF can’t be ‘lobbied’ the way our politicians can, they don’t have to worry about pleasing certain factions so they can be reelected again in 5 years. They’re not perfect, no-one is, but ‘they do not bare all about other family members, they don’t complain about their imagined hardships etc. They just get on with things, I believe they give us a stability and continuity we would not otherwise have. The most stable Europeans / Scandinavian countries are those with monarchies. Our media are appalling, they rarely report on any of the good things the RF are doing but print everything about the 2 in California at the drop of a hat. This is affecting the charities the RF are working with. I saw nothing in the mainstream media about the King and Queen visiting the Channel Islands but there was plenty about Harry getting a totally undeserved award. Please please don’t allow Harry back into the fold, he will always find a way to be disruptive and will do no good for the RF or the charities they help. He’s absolutely bang on about education in this country.

Catherine & Charles have received the very best of top rate cancer care all paid for by us hard working tax payers who can’t even get a GP appointment, I’m afraid I can’t get too upset about it.
Anyone with cancer, the cancer physicians treat all the patients with dignity and respect due to them having cancer. Just a note, if you can't get an appointment with your GP you may contemplate changing physician's.
He lost me when he praised Neville Chamberlain. It’s unfortunate that it was in the last 5 minutes. He’s really unpleasant. I do strongly agree with him on his comments about the behavior of Harry, except I will note that Harry has done a good job holding the media’s feet to the fire over the illegal conduct that occurred. Everything else Harry has done post megxit has been dumb and wrong. But this man is a little too enamored with his own privilege and priviledged opinions. He’s pompous. Born on third base and thinks he hit a home run. Praising Neville Chamberlain? No thank you.

Sorry, had to switch off at about 20 minutes when he said it was “outrageous” that private school attendees have to pay VAT on school fees! And that private schools do a “good job”! I agree that state schools need to do better and that maybe the VAT issue won’t raise a lot, but it is the right thing to do since the ability to have a private school education is a benefit that is only available to a tiny percentage of school pupils! For him to say that somewhere like Eton does a lot for the local community and boys go out and do what amounts to “good deeds” for us Plebs (which is no doubt how he views us!) and in reality is just something to pad their CVs - disingenuous much?!

Don't forget that many of the private schools are small and parents work very hard to send children there. They are not rich but value a private education which is, in the main better.
