Hey Guys, It's Barratt with the Gimpy Camper. Haloview did it again and recently released a new upgraded camera. They took their BT7 camera which is the best camera system I have seen and made it a touch screen. I will say that this BT7 system is the clearest system that I have ever seen. In the last year, I started picking up some interference and it is a little grainy in my rig. I believe this is due to my wifi system and my blink camera system. But it's still clear enough for this type of system and has very little delay in the footage. I also love the color night vision as it is a lot less distracting than the older system that used to swap to black and white at night.
For this system, I installed it on my friend's 40' puma toy hauler. The toy hauler came in handy as we put the patio down flat and I was able to reach the install area with just my 2' step stool. The trailer was prewired with the furrion kit and after I removed the furion plate found the power wire. There was an adapter as usual in the kit and I fed this through the gasket. I wrapped the connections with electrical tape and then used the same screws and screw holes from the mounting plate to mount the camera. I decided to wait until the systems check to put sealant around it though.
Haloview did send me a remote antenna that was similar to their old style so that the wireless signal doesn't have to cover the 50 ft from the camera to the truck. Now an improvement is that there is not a chip in this antenna which was subject to water damage in the old style. The antenna wire screwed directly to the camera and after spot cleaning the roof stuck down the cable ties across the roof. Then the backing was removed from the base of the VHB tape on the antenna base and it was attached at the upper corner of the front cap.
After this, our attention was moved inside the truck. My friend has one of these fancy patriot mounts and we noticed that if he removed one of his phone mounts he could mount the screen by to it just by taking one of the mounts a part that was sent in the kit as the ball joint of the mount was the exact same size. All we then had to do was to plug in the monitor and add the antennas.
Then we moved on to testing. The camera fired right up as soon as the power was supplied to the monitor and the camera. The picture quality was great. We did have to mirror the image to get it in the correct orientation but we didn't have to pair the camera or anything like that.
I then went back to the camera to seal around the mounting surface gasket with chemlink. The only issue I noticed was that there was a hole in the top of the camera housing for a wire passthrough that was not needed. I filled this with sealant so there shouldn't be any issues but I didn't really like this hole being there.
As far as the touchscreen. It actually seems like the controls are more user-friendly than on the display with the buttons. That being said the functionality is the same. However, I really like this system better, mainly because the screen has a lot cleaner look and is more streamlined. My friend drove his rig an hour home from his trip when we installed this and stated that the camera was great. The video quality was top notch and that there wasn't any noticeable lag in the display. Given that this is built on the BT7 system from halo I have no doubts that it will shine for a long time and that my friends will have a dependable camera to help them along their journeys.
Thanks for watching and thanks for being a part of our family. Be sure to turn those notifications on to be notified of next Friday's video when it gets released.

Great install. We just got a haloview camera on our trailer and love it. Those bulletpoint mounts are awesome. Nothing wrong with being frugal.

I contacted bullet point and they said they only work with influencers with over 5k followers and I was Ike… “well I do but that’s ok”. Then they said only in my RUclips and no other socials… and they require a complete marketing plan from their influencers. So that’s a pass from me lol

That camera is awesome and the mount is a great addition! Also your microphone, I was not able to see the name but your voice is so clear. Can you tell me which one you use.
    Thanks a bunch 😊

About a year ago I switched to the DJI wireless mic. I had the wireless Rhode before that but I wanted a system with two microphones. I like the DJI system and the only problem was a little interference a couple times so I started pushing a button to save it on a tiny hard drive in the mic itself for a backup but it never messes up when I save a copy lol
