Thanks so much for the shoutout man! With the incredible looking new Squiers, SURELY they must have something coming for us bass players in 2021 🥲 Let's hope!
Bruh! It was maple on maple, which was back breaking 😅 the obeche fretboard was narrower than the neck, which I compared between a few basses before purchasing, so QC was appalling on these basses. 3 point bridge....uh! But it did have a velute! 😍🥳🙌🏻 One thing Gibson did right 😂
My only complaints about the dimension bass 1)name it was used by fender first 2) the string retention But honestly I'll more then likely get me a hunted moss one to sit with my euro 5 lt, Rebop 5 dlx zebrawood and modified q4 pro.
My man, squier announced ROASTED MAPLE necked active j bass and p basses. Theyre called the contemporary series. Also, they gave us (what I believe are) our first 5 strings from the line as well. You can now buy a 5 string natural J bass with the black binding and black block inlays for 450 bucks.
I normally don't do this, but, since I'm the first viewer of this video, I would just like to say that I enjoy your videos a lot. Keep on the great job!
Hey, Patrick, “burnt ends” at 2M BBQ in San Antonio are mighty good! Yeah, that one model of Jackson bass looks like an Ibanez copy. I noticed that the Jackson has a push/pull knob for active/passive modes. The Ibanez is active only.
Since i was like 16 i wanted one of those rainbow Translucent paint jobs from Spector. (Black body, burst of color) They are really making some nice basses now a days.
Great video Patrick! Just discovered your channel recently and you've become one of my favorite Bass gear channels very quickly! Keep up the good work man 👍
I love your channel man! As a despondent/destitute musician who hasn't done a single gig since last March, who goes to practise bass to pigeons, squirrels and random strangers in my local park just to get out of my house, you always cheer me up with your positivity and energy 😊 Thanks! Charvel 5 looks so good I love the green
That last Spector at 13:45 is just... damn. Darth Maul if he was a bass or something. Probably looks amazing in person and sounds amazing as most Spector PJs
I would love to see a line of non-reverse t-birds from epiphone in the ~$500 range. Same thing with a gripper and/or grabber release. Basically, I wish Epiphone was more like Squier has been recently with the high quality, low price vintage treasures.
Awesome video, Patrick. I personally liked the Spector basses, Music man bass in the smoked Crome finish and the sterling bass in that blue finish. I also like the Ibanez btb and soundgear basses. Especially since I’ve always like Ibanez soundgear bass. I’ve tried out the spectra basses and they actually sounded pretty good. They have a nice punchy sound and they have a passive/active switching.
About Ibanez and the 32" scale low B...I tried the 5 string version of the Ibanez Mezzo and it had a pretty solid low B for a short scale bass in that price range. So I can only guess that the EHB will be even better. I even compared the mezzo against an NG3 and, sure they aren't in the same price range at all but both sounded great and had there own potential. Scale length isn't the answer to everything conserning bass...good pickups and proper EQ can pretty much give you the tone you want in any genre.
The EHB 1005SMS is such a NICE bass that I bought one as my professional bass before I even own a professional guitar. And I'm a guitarist. Bro. Words don't describe how amazing it sounds
So looking forward to the arrival of the Ibanez EHB Shortscale. Being under 5ft and getting a sore back from long rehearsals I'm constantly looking new for lightweight shortscale basses. I own a 4 string and 5 string from the Ibanez Mikro series. The 5 string 28" scale mikro is just fantastic for an instrument around £250. To me the lowest string at B tuning sounds great. I'm confident the EHB will sound great B tuning as well. I know many people think there should have been 37" model however I think Ibanez are listening and will come up with something awesome. For now I'm taking this as an absolute win.
Electric bass players are so lucky to have so many options. Imagine you played acoustic violin. They pretty much all look the same 😮 You can’t deviate very far at all from it structurally, or it’s not a violin anymore🤣
Thanks for the overview Patrick ! Still no multiscale EHB 4 Strings, too bad. I would love one in their BIF finish. BTW, the next Gibson bass rumoured to be released with Gene Simmons is a V.
Chicago Music Exchange has dozens of exclusive guitars and basses (colors). One that got me was the "Competition Squier Mustang Bass" , metallic blue with white stripe. Really nice. Fender has drastically improved the breed. No more dead spots!
I recently bought the Epiphone embassy in smoked almond, and i have to say its amazing. Sounds so clear and its so easy to play and have fun with it. I recommend it 100%
Please do try a Cort MS Bass! I've bought one last year for about 900 EUR and I've also bought a much more expensive Ibanez EHB1505. Returned the Ibanez because the Cort was clearly better - to my own surprise!
For me it's the Spector Pulse 4 Red sandblasted....and one you didn't mention is the new Sadowsky MetroExpress made my Warwick Verdine White Signature PJ Bass.
Well Squier have gotten a new bass coming out. It's an affinity jaguar medium scale bass with a humbucking pickup. They look absolutely brilliant, simple and classic with a fat sounding pickup. They are going for £219 on preorder. I'm obviously gonna pick it up lol.
Hey patrick, regarding your comments on the stacked ppups, have you ever tried the fender jazz bass blacktop series? It's a killer mim bass. I have owned and played one for 4 years now. I highly recommend that bass. Plus it's like 500 bucks. So it's a great cheap bass
I love the Blacktop basses. I play a Blacktop Precision and I keep one in the closet, still with the film on the pickguard and tags on it, just in case something ever happens to the first one. Totally underrated basses, good for those of us in the know though.
I would love a new charvel!! I have 2 all black 5H MM specials! One is a maple and one ebony! The ebony is discontinued now! So glad I grabbed one up!!🙏🙏
Missed a 2021 Fender release: Boxer Series Precision (PJ). Made in Japan. Sherwood Green or Torino Red. Black hardware and headstock. 34" maple/rosewood neck, 1.5" nut, 12" radius, VVT with 3-way switch. Not really my thing. It's an 80s throwback that looks similar to a Duff McKagan bass in style. The best thing about this bass is that it's made in Japan. Which probably means it's built better than an American made Fender.
Really dig all of your reviews and your all things bass stuff...love your enthusiasm and communication skills. NAMM 21’ recap 👌👌👌. Then on top of all that you can thump like a mahn-stuh!!!
Bruh, I recently bought the Cort A5 plus scms which is the beyond but with a spalted maple top and it is killer. Definitely give the beyond a go. I sent you a what do you bass email if you want a look at mine.
I got a Spector NS Pulse 5 last week and I am absolutely loving it. It has that Spector tone, it’s under 8 lbs, and the sandblasted ash is one-of-a-kind. It is as well built as my USA Fenders and Kiesel. The sturdy and thick gig bag is a huge plus too.
@@SpectorEuro4 sweet! I’ll probably get myself one for the Holidays. I did love the Spector sound so much that I want to convert my passive basses to EMG-loaded ones. Haha
Leave it to Patrick to take care of us....... Thank you, Patrick!!!!! BTW, can I have your permission to post your channel's link to people that ask for BASS content on the guitar channels I go too??? I'm hooked on your channel !!!
I have an epiphone embassy. Sounds awesome, looks awesome, but god damn it took some work to get it playing right. There’s still dead spots on the neck but those pickups? Unreal!
I wish Gibson would reissue the RD, Ripper, and Grabber. Or at the very least release them under Epiphone. I just got my Epiphone Embassy yesterday, and I love it.
I used to hate on Ibanez and for some reason make fun of them. Now I have one, love it and I really want another one! Lol Almost feels like my roscoe bass just about a pound heavier. And it has a flamed mahogany back, so that’s what’s up!
I'm just going to assume that you've never heard of Yamaha basses. I have never seen you play one, and you never mention Yamaha. I'm hoping that could change one day. Humble suggestion, A quick easy review you could do, the Yamaha Peter Hook signature bass.
Squier just redid the classic vibe line in 2019. I have always liked Fender style bass guitars maybe because I started on a p bass. Some cool contemporary looking stuff for 2021, but I’m good with a passive precision or jazz bass.
I think its a major bummer Fender and Squier didn't put out more, especially since Squier is doing some cool things with the contemporary series right now. I guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed and hope we get some cooler stuff in spring.
Love the fact that roasted maple is becoming a prominent thing. Don't even care about the supposed stability, it just looks gorgeous.
Yeah it looks sooo nice. Love the new Charvels with it.
It's used on the spector ns pulse basses too I'm pretty stoked about it too. Helps give the bass almost an aged sound.
Ive been saying this lately about Wenge necks. Seems to be more and more
It's lighter: that's reason enough.
Roasted maple seems to be the new gimmick of the year.
Gene Simmons: Rock music is dead
Also Gene Simmons: Check out my new sig Gibson Bass made to rock!
Agreed trying to sell a neck heavy bass that will never be on a stage with him outside of showing it off lol
Gene's. ALL about the MONEY. So he doesn't care.
Gene Simmons, whatever’s!!!
Imagine that gibson says "hey! We're gonna do the Ripper again!"
"Hey guys, we listened. we're never making basses with 3 point bridges EVER again and hardcases are back to being standard, at no extra cost"😂
That hurts. I sold mine.
I wish! Just change the bridge, Gibson! I used to have a '78(?) Ripper and I loved i! I still think about the day I sold it. Big sad face.
And grabber but nope we get a "signature" thunderbird hard pass lol
Imagine that Gibson does the Ripper again and it's actually _not_ a limited run bass.
Thanks so much for the shoutout man!

RD Artist. I'm a lefty though and Gibson doesn't do lefty's. So Gibson sucks.
Really, really want one of those Spector fanned-fret 5s...❤️❤️
Man I think I just fell in love with this black ernie ball, I mean she's so freaking cool, and this multi-color Ibanez SR is just so beautiful !
That Charvel is absolutely beautiful, but that multi-scale Spector is just outta this world.
My only complaints about the dimension bass
1)name it was used by fender first
2) the string retention

I have a feeling anything with Gene Simmons name on it is just going to be overpriced
*Gibson. 😂😂😂
And sh×tty like his hair piece!
The Gibson Thunderbird is incredibly overpriced anyway. The Epiphone thunderbird sounds better for less than half the price.
Probably add another $500-$700 to the price, minimum.
I'm more concerned to the person buying an instrument associated with gene simmons.
Patrick, dude you are so right Charvel 5 String Jazzbas 35 inch scale length, roasted maple neck and the color dark green far more beyond gorgeous😍🎸🎶👍
Whatever happened to Peavey, they used to make some AWESOME basses, the T40, Cirrus and Zephyr were all so awesome and now gone.

when TF are epiphone going to do an RD bass,! they would nail it
