This talk is actually from June, and since then something has indeed changed. OpenAI now has "Structured Output" with Pydantic and json schema. Too bad since now I wonder why I would want to use an external library instead of OpenAI's built in support for Pydantic, assuming I'm only using OpenAI models.
I appreciate the way he didn’t try to over sell it, but sounds like good progress over the previous year by publishing packages for additional languages
