They used to use these old busses for my school as a kid (late '90s to early-mid 2000s.) They were always in dark green. I think they were all just retired fleet.
Thanks - Still honing the camera setup… I think (after this) I’ve finally found the source of the annoying occasional rattle in the rig too - a tiny door on a little lanyard, where the external mic plugs in…. Not sure when the next one will be now; maybe some coaches.
It’s an Insta One R 4k (like a Go Pro) set to 25fps, which I have rigged to a Røde Video Go mic, on a couple of Nikon extension brackets and a SmallRig clamp. Clamps up to the handrail beside the door. Excellent image stabilisation.
It’s not hugely fast; like you say, the wide angle makes it appear quicker than it really is. Nothing above 40mph here. It would do more on a run, but mechanical sympathy dictates leaving some in reserve, for she’s an old girl now.
The gearbox in the Atlantean is semi-automatic, with only two pedals, a fluid flywheel and no clutch. Best practice is to pause to allow the revs to drop to match the road speed when going up the box, and to increase revs to match engine speed when changing down. This reduces wear to the mechanical components, particularly the brake bands which operate on planetary gears in the box to effect the change, and the angle drive and prop shafts. It’s good practice to pause for mechanical sympathy.
@@richardwalker_ yes, need rev matching for semi-automatic when i was little don't know it, just saw all driver drive Daimler Fleetline (jumbo) so jerky hope i am a driver back in the day, can give passengers a smooth journey but nowadays buses are AT no need to think about it
@@yct6956 many drivers find a way to abuse an automatic bus. They have lock up stages which means sudden throttle inputs really puts huge forces on the driveline and puts sudden jerks on the bus. I remember a driver doing that to a Metrobus and I cringed.

High geared Atlantean, unlike most of CitiBuses Leyland Atlanteans here in Manchester.
