If you watch how Tonya Harding and Midori Ito did their triple axels you will see the same step up.
Her Triple axels are under rotated.. She finishes the twist on the ice. Giving a under rotated jump nearly 3 points in Grade of execution is laughable.
Rika for sure. Her triple axel is much less prone to under-rotation and she is able to pull off a triple axel somewhere near the second half of the programme. Also, she is able to do a rotated 3-3 axel combo, which is pretty amazing. Lastly, she has been doing it for many seasons, while Alena seems to lose it this season. The only think Rika is lacking is confidence and consistency. It seems so easy and effortless to her in open practice.

Aliona also has an emphasis on jumping - she jumps higher to catch up, her rotation speed is not as high as Kihira's. Of course, Aliona's technique is worse, but her jumps look more spectacular, unusual.
This is an "I had Eteri as a coach" problem. Every single skater under Eteri has the same under-rotation and entry mistakes that forces them to muscle through the jump and then put her arms up in an attempt to make the jump look higher and more grandiose than it actually is.
what are you talking about? Kihira's axel is not textbook, she does not have a "step up" for the axel jump, it still counts as an axel but there's a clear difference in how they approach the jump
Alenas is great. But Midori ito tops any male or female skater till now.... Her technique on take off is 10 times more explosive and she still skates till now. Figures helped reduce injuries 100 %
I found some mistakes when I was looking at the video. That is a Rika used song. Autumn Classic 2019 FS❌ Autumn Classic 2019 SP⭕️ NHK Trophy 2019 SP❌ NHK Trophy 2019 FS⭕️ but both look so beautiful and excellent.
I love both these girls' triple axels... Kostornaia's is higher but I think Kihira's is better because she: 1. jumps more straight through than Kostornaia therefore carries a higher percentage of the entry speed on the landing which is better for combinations. 2. The jump entrance, setup and pattern is more standard and fluid as opposed to Kostornaia's elaborate pattern that takes a lot of time in a warm up to execute and wastes a lot of time especially if somebody gets in her way. This makes for less stress mentally and physically in competition. Think of how Hanyu can do the triple Axel as a warm up jump off the counter turn(fluid timing that takes very little space patteen-wise/effort to accomplish)....So under this line of reasoning, Kostornaia's pattern makes it look like this jump is a bigger deal in her mind than for Kihira and is more stressful mentally and physically... 3. Kihira has done many triple Axel-triple toe combinations in competition and Kostornaia has done none to my knowledge... Kihira's jump technique is far superior to all of the Russian girls on every jump. Even though she may not get as high or seem as powerful, her jumps are of a much higher quality in terms of pattern, technique, timing, trajectory and having the correct amount of textbook pre rotation. The Russian girls go 3/4 revolutions on toe loop and Salchow takeoff vs Kihira getting up before or at 1/2 revolution on those jumps. The Russian girls do full blade 3/4 or more pre rotation on flip and Lutz. Not only do they do this but the Russian girls do not even do a Lutz because even if their left foot may be on some shallow outside edge as it skids through and off the ice for the takeoff, their body is way to the right and inside the circle "in a hurry to get the rotation" using none of the potential active edge power that is possible with the Lutz (Tuktamysheva is the exception on the Lutz for the Russian girls as hers is technically flawless and phenomenal) Kihira has great, pure, clean Lutz technique with fantastic active edge... I think Rika can beat all these Russian girls this year if she gets great programs that highlight her feminine beauty and her incredible blend of pure technique and consistency. She needs two Triple Axels, one in combo with triple toe, one by itself, a quad Salchow and the rest of the triples like she does with more speed and power than previous years.... Trusova is getting taller and taller is not working on her artistry enough and is trying to do more that she can do to be consistent and her triple Axel has terrible technique. Unless Plushenko can convince her to do less and be artistic so she can be consistent, she will be their or 4th at best this year. Kostornaia needs to get her triple Axel back and get her jumps like they were last year her Lutz is much worse and everything is jumping around and landing too far into the circle. She has filled out a bit but looks to be down on power. Power to weight has dropped for Kostornaia so far this year... Scherbakova is only getting taller and taller with higher polar moment of inertia. I think we will see more and more if the Lipnitskaya effect for her as time goes on. By next year, she will not even be a factor if she keeps growing because there is only so much somebody can starve themselves to maintain low polar moment of inertia to make up for technique that does not use the power afforded to people who learn the jumps with the proper technique, pattern, active edge timing and proper trajectory. It is a shame because she is a beautiful girl who wants to interpret and skate beautifully but she has been taught short term technique at the expense of her career more than any of the other girls... I think Rika has the chance to win it all this year and be the favorite going into the Olympics. One more year of the a Russian girls in the following season will give Kihira an even greater advantage for the Olympic season since she has already finished growing and has only to tweak her quad Salchow and toe loop jumps to be consistent on those as well. If Rika does 2 quads and 2 triple Axels with great programs and interpretation, it's game over for the Russian girls IMO...
I agree with you so much! Rika’s jump technique deserves more recognition. Her Lutz is so satisfying to watch. I hope Plush can convince Sasha doing less jumps... But I think he won’t insist because he knows Sasha left Eteri because of that. Last competition is a big tough lesson for her though. Also I think she realised the importance of artisy after moving to Plush.
@@ilyh1688 I agree with you. But I do think that one of the more defining qualities of a great coach is to be able to see the big picture end game and be able to convince the student why it would be in their best interest to adopt the correct/proper mode of thinking to have the best chance to reach the ultimate potential of the skater... Plushenko is new to the whole top level coaching. Sure he knows training and technique but the mastery of student's mindset is not something every newer level coach possesses. Plushenko did it, still knows how to do it if he were skating, but to translate that knowledge to someone as stubborn and bad-ass as he is(bit who may be motivated Inna slightly different manner) is a delicate matter reserved by the professionals. He needs to dig deep and figure out Trusova's psyche and transform her thinking so she can succeed.
Kihira is complete skater with unique technique. She has good jumps, spins and ice coverage. The only problem with her is that she has limited height for quads. It's problem, because Russian girls are doing multiple quads in single program and judges inflate their components, close eyes to full blade or underrotated jumps....
@@jamoliddinakhmedov6949 I agree with you, but I think the Russian girls' time is running out in terms of growth and the new stock will not have the overall level of maturity and jump quality. I have recently come to this conclusion after more closely examining the Russian girls' technique especially for the 3/4 revolutions pre-rotation on the triple/quad toe and watching Kihira again recently. I kind of stopped watching her because the Russian girls came on strong and seemed to be more explosive and exciting. I think the Russian girls are trained to be super strong and explosive in their off ice jumping to such a degree that they don't really "Need" proper technique to do or be consistent on the jumps as long as they are super skinny with little girl bodies. By the time this short term strategy plays out, it is time for the next little girls to take their place.... all the while Kihira keeps getting more powerful, more refined, more consistent with now quads and the triple Axels.

Though she has a harder entrance she has quite a limited entrance. Even in warm up and practice I have never seen her not do the full entrance, that means she is less versatile. You also get points for unexpected entrance, not necessarily a hard one. Meaning that she should receive no entrance GOE for the second axel she performs with the same entrance. You could also lose transition points given it doesn't show versatility. That's not gonna happen of course, but needs to be taken into account.

Rika was born on 21st September 2002. And Alena was born on 24th August 2003.
So Rika was born one year earlier than Alena.
Mao and Tuktamysheva are how skaters should be. They're great fighters.
Rika is best

Aliona has a much harder entrance to her 3A than Rikas. Also Alionas is much more easier done. Looks like a double she does it with such grace and beauty.
Not as effortless as Rika’s. Just look at the landing of elena’s 3a. Her body was bent forward and landing scratchy
Rika's 3A is so much effortless than Aliona’s. Tha’s obvious.
Aliona’s jump looks more effortless, and she jumped higher.
I love both😍
Alena has lost her 3A.
Due to covid she was largely unable to get on ice training
@@lenap319 and why can Rica still jump 3A?
@@agronom_son_of_agroprom for one, japan had a better covid response than russia. And rika was able to get more ice time. For two, alyona only put it in her program last year while rika had it since juniors, so shes probably more sure about it, while alyona probably wants to not take too many risks
@@lenap319 Actually, during most time of 2020, Rika stayed in Switzerland... not in Japan...
She went back to Japan just few days before Japanese Nationals.
Also, Alena's body is growing... She needs more time to adapt her new body.
Rika's are fully rotated. Alena's 3A+2T is under rotated and her 3A is q But she has difficult entry, better heightand distance. I think Alena's 2.97 GOE for underotated 3A combo is ridiculous. Anna should have won Euro 2020
Rika is the queen of 3 A after Mao!
Aliona is much better, stronger and higher
Does Kihira prerotate more on these jumps in this video??
Pls correct me if I’m wrong.
I personally like Alena's more, she has greater speed and height, and a more difficult entrance. Rika's jumps always look quite "forced" to me
look-wise - Kostornaya, techically - too :) Kihira did heavy pre-rotaions although, there is no rule to penalize stakers tor it, so, there are at par :)
Rika did not pre-rotated on her 3A...
