i use Digitaize violin for teaching a lot, it took some time to find a way for using it as an analysis tool but it turned out to be a great piece of tech, the possibilities seem infinite and its just so much more than “pitch to midi”.
I don't understand, how can I buy this? plus I can see from the video there is almost a one second latency between the trigger and response. I mean this is a disaster for professional violinists who are looking for more than just random sounds to impress their family on a Christmas break. Curious to know more about this as the website says nothing about music.
Ari, How are you measuring this latency from the video? We noticed much less when Megan was playing. Here is a link to purchase the instrument (easy to find on the site): www.digitaize.eu/product/digitaize-smart-violin-stentor/ Keep in mind we are not dealers or endorsees of any of the items we cover.
Heyhey I just discovered the Digitaize. 3 questions come up in my mind right away: * I'm a viola player. When I buy the DIY Viola kit, how does it fit to my instrument? Since there's no default size for a viola? Are there any video's on installing the hardware? * How thick is the digital fingerboard? * Since the midi notes are triggered by placing fingers on the fingerboard, how do you play an open string?
Koen, we aren't associated with the company or any others that we review so installation questions are better answered by the company. The fingerboard wasn't particularly thick although you can see some shots of it in the video. Open strings are probably triggered by a sensor in the nut, but again, this maybe a better question for the Digitaize team.

Definitely some major advantages over pitch to MIDI. Would love to see how you’re using this in your Teaching
Amazing
Thank u for this product 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
So cool- the future is now
Hi. I talked with him on Saturday at the show and it looked very interesting. But what about bow sensing? I haven’t seen any info on that.
We recorded right into Ableton so you can hear what’s going on at the end of the review David. Hope you enjoy the review

Wait...so this instrument does not track the bow?
No not really.
