Is there a street sign that says the truck is to yield.

In this country the road that has to yield has a clear white or yellow line painted across it.

When I was a little girl, around five or so, I was playing with my cousins at my grandparents house and running around a big concrete fountain they had in their yard. The bottom section that we were running inside had a wavy edge, each indentation only a few inches deep. Suddenly the fountain fell over, I fell backwards with my legs landing exactly in two of the indents, purely by chance. If I hadn't landed the way I did I would have without a doubt lost both legs, maybe my life. If I had larger legs that didn't fit so perfectly, same story. This happened fifty years ago and I'm still grateful for my good fortune.

My neighbor literally fixed his house to save our house from burning down coz the firemen told us if his house was smaller or taller than ours and it would have burned our house down. My neighbors lost phones, TVs "Yes BIG flat screen TVs", microwaves and biggest thing that went missing is a washing machine. A lot of people are sharing their stories of luck so I'll give it a go.
Years back my family and I were driving over Snoqualmie pass in Washington around Christmas time. It was snowing but not terrible but snow chains were required, which we had. We pulled over to the designated chain up area. My wife and I finished up and were about to get back in the car.
Meanwhile, a large pickup truck going too fast and traveling too close slammed on their breaks and swerved out of control towards us while im standing outside the driver door and my wife on the other side of the car.
It hit our back left bumper first. Pushed our car into my wife who landed backwards into a soft snowbank. The truck then spun clockwise forward, knocked me to the ground and roated around my body and not over it. The truck had enough momentum to also hit car in front of us while it was still spinning.
I was able to walk away with a mild concusion, hurt knee and bruised ribs. My wife had tissue damage in her hand from where our car slammed into her but that's it. Our two children were unharmed as they were in our car buckled in their car seats.
If the truck was a few inches more to the left, I would have been a grease stain on the snow.
    Drive carefully people.

Question: was my grandfather very lucky or unlucky?
He was born into abysmal conditions after the great war and had to work as a child for food scraps and didn't have access to running water, electricity, or even a bed. The Germans invaded and freed him of the abusive landlord. He joined the army and had for the first time in his life all the luxury he ever dreamed of (for us pretty much the level we take for granted). Soon after, he was fighting the Russians and got shot in the outskirts of Stalingrad. He was sent home just in time before everything went to sh!t there. He recovered just in time to be reassigned and sent to Normandie, where an American bomb exploded right next to him, knocking him over. He managed to find an opportunity to surrender to a British unit and they patched him up. He had suffered multiple perforations and embedded foreign objects due to the fragmentation of the bomb. Two of the metal parts were not removable, even today, it would be utterly impossible. One of them was in his brain(!) and the other was stuck in his spine, close to his heart. The fact that he survived that, let alone was able to run and fight for his life is nothing short of a miracle. He died at 90 years.
As a side-note, he was fully capable of working and raising my mother despite all his injuries, and what makes him stand out, even more, is that he went back to his life without any issues, whereas my other grandfather had gone through less and yet drank himself to death and both my grandmothers were severely mentally damaged. He had seen the horrors of war firsthand but never held any grudges. He visited Russia multiple times (and cheated on his wife there, but that's beyond the point).

He was one of my favorite relatives. He was the only one that didn't give a F when they found out that I had fallen in love with an Indian girl and he was the only one willing to talk about the war and he did so in a matter-of-fact way without painting himself as the hero or victim.

At some point the wind forced them open again and the metal pole nearly hit the back of my had. It was probably just inches away.
I could see it in my side view as it went behind me.
I got shocked a relived when I started thinking I could've died if it had hit me.

And another time at some other job of mine, I was doing done stupid shit under a metal platform.
No idea what I was trying to do.
But when I had just gotten out from under it, something snapped that held it up. And the platform smashed into the ground.
If I had been under it, I would've probably have been flatten to death.

I've got a luck story! Feb 22, 2011 I had an appointment at the bank at 1pm but by some weird quirk a delivery company accidentally delivered a pallet of product to our house and left it in the driveway so I couldn't get my car out. I called my partner to come and help me move the product (it was product for my business, they just delivered it to my house instead of the warehouse) and while he was home a massive earthquake hit (at 12.51pm) and the bank I would have been in and most of the surrounding buildings collapsed. And we were together, not stressing about if the other was safe (most were not so lucky, it was a bloody stressful incident). Just sheer lucky day for us .

I used to play Warhammer Fantasy back in the day and when you rolled a character you had to role for Fate Points. These points meant, if you died, you got to use a fate point and go on living.
The people in the video, rolled well :D

When I was 10, I was on my holibobs visiting family in Ireland.
One day, I went to a local 'mountain' with two cousins.
Driving back along a one-track road, some arse in a farm truck came toward our mini.
    We stopped, they didn't.
We thought they're gonna slow down, they didn't, and hit us full on.
The mini was totalled and had done a few somersaults into the ditch.
My cousins (driving and in the back seat) were a bit bruised and concussed.
I was in the front without a seatbelt (this was '83), and didn't have a scratch.
The truck driver was never found, the utter tw@.

When I was in avout the 6th grade I bought my first "lottery" thicket. It was from a local shop which offered all kinds of cheap toys. The most expensive ones were a doll and a small electric piano. I didn't know how it all worked, I thought if I got a winning ticket I could choose which ever I wanted, and since I was a boy I said I'd like the piano. The lady there and my school friend explained me that ome has to actually get the ticket that had the number of the piano on it, to get it.. but nevertheless I bought my first ticket and it was that piano. I was stunned and happy that my whish has happened, but more stunned where my brother, my friend and that lady from the store. Merely seconds before I pointed to the piano and said "I want that if I win".

The lottery guys back story is insane if you don't know already. The Guy got into an accident was injured and given some kind of medication during treatment for that. This ended up stopping his heart and left him clinically dead for 14 mins. This left him in a coma for 12 days. Drs didn't think he had a chance and family was considering stopping life support. However the guy wakes up and is completely fine. Miracle?
