Not just Hope's character actually but the entire point of FF13's story. The plot's main focal point was a psychological journey of characters overcomming their turmoil. It was about flawed people overcomming and accepting their flaws. Therefore it aggrovates me when people mindlessly complain about the characters "ThEy ArE DeEpLY FlAwEd AnD NoT pErFeCt."... yeah we - the people who actually understand the game and love it - know. The characters being flawed is the entire point of the game... But gamers arn't the smartest bunch I guess. Hope was all about growth. Everyone has their own personal reason to life for. At first Hope's reason was his mother. His entire life rotated arround her. Aside from that he was a kid whom did not know how to take care of himself. He watched his entire world collapse when his mother died and therefore also his reason to life. All the mayham caused fight and flight respond (not fight or flight). His mind quickly needed to find another reason to life/another drive. He deep down inside knew it was the Sanctum that caused the death of his mother, but since charging angrily towards the Sanctum is a suicide mission, his mind set their sight on Snow. Yeah Hope knew technically it wasn't Snow's fault, altough Snow was related to the incident. Hope just needed something to push him foreward. At the first sagments of the game, you'll see Hope hating Snow. But seeing later on how little by little he becomes just like Snow, I just find heart warming. This entire psychology seemed extremely obvisious to me from start, but hey... most missed it - since gamers arn't smart folk in general - even though Hope explained this word for word later on during his confrontation with Snow in Pallumpollum. (I want you to know; my complains about the gaming community weren't directed to you. I have got much more complains about the gaming community, like the herd mentality (personal opinion is easily influence by others. Everyone is influencable by herd mentality one way or another - that's how we have been wired - although some of 50% and others for 5%), the "I don't understand the story, so it is poorly written" phenomenon and the "Everything new and different I dislike, but eventhough I dislike the new because nostalgia enhanced the experience of the old - and therefore the new can't possibly stack up - let's complain and ruin the new for everyone by coating subjective opinion as objective fact and act like I don't know what subjective is" phenomenon. @@batdog12100 Hit the nail on the head, basically teenage gamer boys were angry that there was a young man going through serious emotional turmoil (literally having just seen his mom die in front of him and thrust into the hands of a group of strangers AND the person he believed was responsible for his mother’s death) and didn’t like that he was “whiny”.
Yeah, I think 15 really dropped the ball on that one. They have the movie but the ones in the game itself are so...boring. They're mostly just the characters talking with each other which makes me wonder what the point of a high budget scene was in the first place...
suga pls infire me Glad someone else enjoys it. It's my favorite Final Fantasy game of all time. I loved almost everything about it. Characters, universe, story, aesthetics. Just loved it. I know in the Final Fantasy community, it's a pretty divisive game; most either love it or hate it, but no other Final Fantasy game is nearer to my heart, even though I've played all of them. Minus the dated textures, the game looks absolutely incredible to this day. I wish I could play it more, but I earned all of the achievements for it already, lol.
This game is highly underrated. I get it, when people prefer other FF games. This one definatly is a, if not the, black sheep (not a bad thing) of the franchise. But being different, doesn't make it bad. But most gamers are an odd kind. I definatly love this game aswell. I also replayed it recently, and loved to re-experience it.
I always say that this game will be revaluate by fans some day... It was too ahead for the standards of his times... Look FF7R today, is linear as ffxiii (maybe more?) and almost everyone enjoys it.
@@yuseifudo2609 yeah it's really linear but people still LOVE it. People def went too hard on XIII, and imo it has the best visuals of any final fantasy which somewhat makes up for the linearity (which I personally don't even mind but y'know)
I came back to this video to refresh myself on game events for a fanfiction, and I just caught the "see food buffet" joke that Sazh made. Since younger me didn't catch this the first time, I'll groan enough for both of us.
@@arcaydes4356 I was like 13 when I played through this game the first time, but I played it all through again a year or so ago and I still didn't catch it. Probably because there's a lot going on when he says it and the dialogue gets buried by the other stuff.
Well not really, breaking the crystal just speeds up the process but the crystals are just portals of Etro's gates. So bahamut would've responded to Fang seconds later anyways.
Say what you will about this game but I didn't completely hate it, the characters weren't horrible, lightning obviously was the most fleshed out but this game did have some amazing cutscenes for a xbox 360 game.
I wish. I recently got all of the achievements for 13 and 13-2 (still working my way through 13-3), but I would HAPPILY play through all three games again. I love the game universe so much.

thefreeburningspirit, I started playing Kingdom Hearts 2 before I could read. After that, I was introduced to Pokemon. Of course, I could read by then. But, Roxas is special to me since he was the first true character I ever played as.

FFXIII had the best CGI cutscenes of all Final Fantasy games imo.
