    For the Commenter Edition: Croft Manor, not quite as expansive or customizable but arguably the first videogame dream home. Hitman Freelancer's home, a beautiful retreat with helipad, dock and emergency exit. Toran Castle in Suikoden, which expands as you recruit more of the game's 108 characters. It sits on its own island and becomes yours when you kill the dragon lurking within.

    • @MaverickRiou
      @MaverickRiou Год назад +5

      Just Suikoden in general: all of the home bases/castles are great. Also would like to to add, Code Vein’s home base cathedral church, which has its own hot spring in the back, a bar, and a huge crack in the middle. Both a hazard and a plus!

      In the same vein as Suikoden, there's also the Marquelian Villa from Growlanser IV: Wayfarer of Time. It starts out as party member Eliza's family summer home, but she gives it to you and it becomes you're base of operations where you can plot your next move and spend time with your party members while on furlough. While there's no customization for the property, you can recruit merchants and other eccentric characters to come to the villa and offer their various services.

      @@joeloberholster, Skyrim Homestead Mods: Kipper's House Hunt (this isn't the exact title, but it's close enough...and it's on the thumbnail). If you go to the channel's playlist section, you'll find the entirety of Kippers' Khronicles...and the video in question is just above the Switch livestream (where Kippers found the gear added by LoZ amiibos).
      Ellen basically takes Kippers on a guided tour of modder-added homes (standing in for the estate agent) and, during one "viewing," Kippers' actions shortly before getting to the home had its consequences made clear as he left...just after Ellen mentioned how it was a great hideaway from the guards. This also leads to Kippers being caged indefinitely (until a previous save is reloaded)...with hilarious commentary.

After all the years of the creepy test facility he was raised in, dingy ICA safehouses, depressing motel rooms and a garden shed at the back of a church, he's got a home of his own! That and the fact that you can make 3 of them. Yah you can buy houses in majority of the holds then add furnishings, but with Hearthfire, you're able to build 3 houses, each in different areas.
      Lakeview Manor in Falkreath with the view of a lake. Hieljarchen (i think that's the spelling) Hall over near Dawnstar by a snowy cliff. And Windstad Manor in the dark swamps of Morthal.
      Besides being able to build them, I like how there were customization options to each wing. Sure it's only 3 options per wing, but if you get all 3 homes, you can have all of the different combinations of the 3.

    The Mass Effect Pinnacle Station player home is an all time favourite of mine: located on a quiet Alliance colony world, it offers beautiful views of a tranquil and largely unspoilt landscape from its panoramic windows, and has an ascetic quality that speaks to a certain rustic romanticism that must be hard to connect with for a 22nd century guy or gal like Shepard. It's the cabin in the wilderness to Anderson's Citadel party pad. And you can't beat it for exclusivity - Not since EA lost the original files for the Pinnacle Station DLC, at least.

    I absolutely love all the houses we get in Kingdoms of Amalur; the first being Gossamer End in Canneroc after finishing the side quest with the Widow. My personal favorite is the massive Seawatch castle we get in Klurikon. I haven't gotten around to playing the new DLC, so I don't know if we get a house there. Oh, there's also Gravehal Keep as part of the Legend of Dead Kel DLC and that one is pretty nice too. We get the underground quarters of the head of the Scholia Arcana when you complete that faction quest. It's a bit less welcoming though and the noises coming from the brownies over in part make me uncomfortable, so I rarely visit that one. No, there's no real point to the houses beyond using various side quests to upgrade them all and it's something to spend all your gold on (I'm so loaded with gold by the time I hit Rathir that I never spend it all. I had over 2 million gold at one point.), and your stash is in each house, but I still like them.
    Oh yeah, we also finally have a house in Hitman thanks to the Freelancer mode. I still need to get out of the basement, but I'm so bad at the missions in Freelancer.

    Skyrim Anniversary Edition added several new player homes made by some talented designers. Tundra Homestead is my favorite. It's rather small, but it embodies the word "cozy" so well, that walking into it feels like wrapping yourself in a blanket and sitting by a fire with hot cocoa. And the land it's on is beautiful and located by a guard patrolled road outside Whiterun.
    Other fun homes include a vampire themed home, necromancer crypt, a mages tower, Dwarven ruins, and nord longhouse. Even a farmhouse where you can make over a thousand gold passive income daily.

    For the Commenter's Edition I'd like to add in another upgradable Manor from another Assassin's Creed game, which is the Manor in Great Inagua Cove in AC IV: Black Flag. Sure, it doesn't have a multimillion-euro art gallery like the Auditore Manor but the views of the cove are more than enough to compensate for it, alongside a beautiful garden and outdoor patio.
    From a GTA V there's also Michael's Mansion in Rockford Hills which, while not as expertly positioned as Franklin's, it still has an air of beauty to it. GTA IV also has some good safehouses, one being Playboy X's Penthouse and the other is the Middle Park East Condo.

    My choice for incredible apartments we'll never be able to own is a toss up between Cyberpunk 2077's Penthouse apartment that you get in one particular ending and the one you get located in The Glen.
