It sucks that Tavares left, but don’t keep your heads down!
As a Mets fan I know what it's like to root for a team with bad management. Rangers aren't so great either history wise, but at least in recent years they've put together some quality seasons. Things will get better for you guys. At least there's hope, unlike for my Mets. There's no hope there with Fred Wilpon and his idiot son Jeff. They'll never sell the team. =(

As a Habs a fan, i never thought it to be realistic that Tavares would EVER sign in Montreal. It just got pumped by the media here to keep the fans dreaming and to deviate the attention away from the (still) poor managing. Having said that, i am not surprised at all he chose Toronto. The team truly dedicated their efforts towards a rebuild(and a fast one i might add) and Tavares saw the potential to win a Stanley Cup sooner rather than later, if ever, with any other team that made its way on his list. I am not ashamed to say that i am envious of the way the Leafs put themselves back into Stanley Cup contention as quick as they did. God it must feel good to be a Leafs fan right now!

Just a reminder this team came last in the 2014-2015 season. Then got Matthews and made the playoffs, and did it again this season. The atlantic is looking to be a habitual bottom feeder division. Average teams excel in the atlantic who would normally be weak in the central or metro. That in part is one of the largest reasons why the leafs have done well these past 2 seasons, lots of points from easy competition.

I think that TML are taking a mature approach with respect to the captaincy, by not rushing it. Perhaps they are waiting to see if AM34 will be the true franchise player for the organisation and see how he and JT gel. It might help the younger guys if one of the senior guys take the C, and then hand it on a season or two later.

I think that TML are taking a mature approach with respect to the captaincy, by not rushing it. Perhaps they are waiting to see if AM34 will be the true franchise player for the organisation and see how he and JT gel. It might help the younger guys if one of the senior guys take the C, and then hand it on a season or two later.
