Which sensibilitée, which musicalitée, which splendid interpretation, I really think that Frédéric Chopin would compliment it on his interpretation

This is by far my favorite interpretation of this prelude. Fantastic dynamic contrasts, bringing out the melody, and this gripping feeling of desperation. I'm no scholar but I imagine this is how Chopin himself played it.

True! The great Dinorah Varsi would be proud of her ability to show/control her Rubato. Really exquisite performance!

Chopin played on instruments that were very different.

@@inraid what was so different about newer pianos that one couldn't imagine Chopin playing similiarly? Genuinely curious, as I've listened to and seen Chopin's pieces played on his own Pleyel pianos, and they're pretty similar to modern pianos, although the Pleyel seems to have a bit more richness in its colors. It's not like Chopin was playing a harpsichord for example.

@@marklowry4431agreed. I think inraid meant that newer pianos are harder to play due to keys being tougher to push, however i still dont see how this can matter here.

surprisingly, this rendition by a lesser known young pianist turns out to be the best delineated version of this prelude, far better in the phrasing, well calculated gradation of dynamics and execution of details, so poised and well analysed before putting it to perfect execution according to that very musically logical analysis.

Wonderful phrasing and dynamics! So many play so fast that it is impossible to play the main theme softly (piano).

Excellent! Perfect phrasing, superb balance between melody and the other layers, clarity of timbre and depth of emotion. Everything falls into place. I like this version even better than Sokolov's.

Could I know if this pianist left compact discs Frédéric Chopin? because I would be interested. Thank you for your answer.

Great Chopinesque shaping and phrasing! All the lingering, surging, and suppleness that Chopin demands, even though there’s minimal indication in the score. Would just like even bigger “pounces” on the two incredible climaxes at the end. The chromaticism of this music is supposed to have been a major inspiration for Wagner. I think that’s according to Wagner himself.

The speed makes it sound impressive. But this prelude is actually very playable and fits so comfortably under the hand. It’s the same technique over and over like an etude, so once you get it you’re good to go. I’m learning this now and it’s all about technique
