Great game and series. I already watched all once , when bought and play game a while ago. Now i'm back to game and forgot and watching again, looking for answers. Question about how crown priority list works like for transfers with manager of shiping and others roles. If thers multiple choices for transfer from first priority, two ships in 16:19 here. So does crown use tie braker, make the transfer and skip the other eligible pices and for next transfer goes to second priority and so on? Like if crown would transfer my pice, I'll prevented with a cube. Then it would skip next one so i dont have to spend cube for that
For Director of Trade, yes, if it skips one in the list (e.g. you bribe with a cube), it steps to the next one down in the list - i.e. it does not look to other alternatives for the same step in the transfer list. This only applies to Direct of Trade. If you look at Military Affairs transfers, for example, each transfer will restart at the top of the list of priorities, which is different from how Director of Trade works.
30:00 I thought that it whatwould create a new empire putting a new flags in this type of invasion. In what other scenario would two sovereign regions create a new empire?
5:58 The rule you show in the Crown handbook says you can give 1 pound to get 1 cube. It does not say you can pay X to get X. Are you allowed to do that multiple times?
Hey mate, loving your videos on this, you're stepping through the solo rules so well. I know I'm a year late to the party, but I think you made a mistake allocating the first funds to Bengal, as the Army didn't have a "majority of Crown pieces". That doesn't include commanders, does it?
Thank you for watching and commenting; I hope you continue to enjoy the videos! It's a good question, but yes, a Commander still counts as one of the 'pieces' in an Army, even though they do not cost expenses and cannot be exhausted in order to add strength to a fight. But yes, they still count: see rules on 'more total pieces' on page 19. Note also, the rules on dividing loot between participating pieces during a successful Deployment on page 23, which also advises that Commanders still count. The only time you don't count them is expenses, which is explicitly called out on page 27, as well as the fact that you cannot 'exhaust' a commander like you can an Officer piece in the Army.
@@BoxofDelights hey thanks for the response, really appreciate it. I’ve been playing that one wrong up until now, some of these rules can be a bit tricky with “most” and “least” and “greatest” and “fewest” and “majority” and “equality”, I find myself constantly looking them up
there is a qualifier on those in the rulebook; it should be straightforward once you find that paragraph at the end of the solo section. but if you get stuck, feel free to ask 👍
@@BoxofDelights I have another one you might be able to help me with? When I play the 1813 scenario that starts with a Firm, can I use my starting Shares to invest in the company or are they not mature yet because they were created that turn? I think they can be used because they're already mature, but I can't seem to find that one mentioned anywhere
I'm curious about the Crown's behavior during Hiring--when to use the AI card for clockwise/counterclockwise choices or the 1st/2nd selectors of regions on the AI card (like for choosing Presidencies.) In this turn, you used the AI card's hand pointing to counterclockwise as stated by "Director of Trade/Governor General Selection" rule. Then, for Writers you use the Presidencies tie-breaker instead--even though we're choosing between Crown's Writers... Is that purely because Madras, Bengal, or Bombay offices are involved?
exactly: when choosing purely between 3 Presidencies, use the presidency tie-breaker; when a rule says to choose something clockwise/counter-clockwise (the Handbook will tell you if it's not clear), then use those. So for DoT, it specifically says in the Crown handbook to select the position (which might be anything, not just a Presidency), it says to look "clockwise/counter-clockwise" around the ribbon.
At 32:14 the score was a tie. How come that the tie was unsuccessful? And it says otherwise that if it was a success, in case of a tie.....how can be a tie a success?
This is a really great rules/game play. I do have to say I’m not that keen on those round coasters. They just look gimmicky. I can see them getting busted IMO.
thank you ! Re the round tiles: in person they are actually really nice; they are thick and sturdy and won't get busted. The only thing I can see happening, given they are quite large, is they might be at risk of warping if you don't store them right possibly? But busted, no - they are made of sturdy stuff!
@@BoxofDelights hmmm. We will see. Knowing beer coasters, not so sure. That said, learned heaps! with this series of vids. Pax Pamir was the same; and I really dig that game, as a solo challenge.
This is a great series, thank you. In the future, it be great to see a few turn that uses the Player Button for a 2 player game
Very cool game and clear and detailed thinking path shared. By the way, the solo rule made by you is amazing!
thank you !

This looks so good... I guess there is no way to reduce company debt marker?
A few ways: invest shares, move to deregulation, some laws...

only when an invasion is successful and an Empire expands.

Great question: you may perform favors as many times as you wish.

@@BoxofDelights Thanks for the confirmation, clarification, and for these videos! I'm even more excited to try this now after watching. 😄
That solo system is very good! Are you working on some other solo variants at the moment?
thank you! Yes, I just finished First in Flight, am mid-development on Steel Colosseum, and am still working on my own design, working title "Rushes".
@@BoxofDelights thx for these insights - looking really forward- are there also news about renegade/ deckers reprint ? - was hoping for 2022 😬

it doesn’t say ties are a success; it says “defender wins ties”; so a tie is a failure for the attacker.
@@BoxofDelights So its basically in one config. def. win ties and in the other the attacker?
No, defender always wins ties, so you look in 'unsuccessful' column.
