Ah the early days. When Nucky pretended to have friends, there was laughter, music, drinking. Then he went full gangster and everything was less cheery…
Btw Nucky's expression at the of scene seems to show he doesn't like any of his associates and simply puts up with them because of what they can do for him.
It was rather meant to show that he realised that the song eddie is singing perfectly describes lucy danziger, and the fact that he would prefer wiser woman (margareth)
He's not wrong. She may have been dumb, needy, and a little nuts, but Lucy Danziger never would have crossed him up the way Margaret, who was very smart but wasn't a saint herself, eventually did.
Well she tried ratting him out to Van Alden, by the time the rest of the feds got involved she would’ve gotten him screwed over. Her stupidity could only protect Nucky for so long.
This song makes me think of Groucho Marx's "I don’t want to belong to any club that would accept me as one of its members." Although, maybe it's just his excuse for why all the smart women stay away from him.
DeRosa did a great job as Eddie Cantor. This song is dead on too this has been my experience with dumb women. It's like a consolation prize for being stupid.
Lol when I see these girls dancing around gleefully to this misogynistic song, I reminds me of the well to do young professional women going nutts when and dancing in the club when Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines comes on. People have absolutely no self-respect.
I'm saying that in this video, some women are dancing gleeful to a song that says that intelligence in women is boring and that beauty is the only thing that matters, and i see a parallel nowadays with supposedly self respecting professional women screaming in delight and dancing when Thicke's song comes on, a song paired to a video which features scantily clad, pre pubescent looking women dancing around mute fawning over a few middle aged men. You don't see something wrong with that picture?
idk anything about the ~~real~~ eddie Cantor but i loved this actor's performance in general. eddie was certain my top 10 favorite characters on the show
@@LazlosPlane As a impression I guess it does but thats a bit like saying a lamp sucks at being a chair. If it wasn't the intention be the thing in the first place...Anywho, it's always a bone of contention for many people - seeing actors playing a real person but not impersonate them. It works better for storytelling as it allows more truth from the actor but I get that some people would prefer an impression and won't be able to get past it, which is understanable
One great character among many on this series - Stephen DeRosa absolutely killed it.
He was amazing, truly.
he actually has a much better voice than Cantor. Cantor's voice was more comical, but there was something appealing about his entire demeanor.
This scene was so amazing! I didn't even know who Eddie Cantor was at that moment
This is probably the only time in the whole show Eli was happy and excited about something lol.
You’re right, he was such a miserable grumpy bastard
E-Or head-ass
For a Shakespeare teacher he really looked like and absolutely nailed Cantor. A lot of people wouldnt know who he is if not for this show
He's arguably the first televised stand up comedian. Comedy nerds know Eddie Cantor.

I think it was meant to show his growing attraction to Margaret as well.
he doesn't like anyone really. he's purely machiavellian in his relationships.

@@jimmycastle I loved Lucy
the voice is very like Cantor's
I agree. Very close.
@Isabel Beckerman shut the fuck up
yep.
Mad Men just got dunked on.
Reminds me of Julie Brown's "I like em big and stupid"
Pretty cool scene.
Based
This reminds me of how much I hated Lucy and how good of a job this guy does as Eddie Cantor!
Nuk is like
Everyone is a prick but me 😡
Exactly my mind on the scene.
I'd give Eddie an exciting ride, lol >;3
He is a QT, lol, honestly I have Nucky's same expression at parties lol 2:08
hes not wrong

Lucy was hotter too

Funny thing is he ain’t wrong the dumber they are the more love they are willing to give
Ain't that the truth brother!

Haha. actually, what a distinct parallel.
What you're saying doesn't make any sense
I'd say it in Spanish, but mine is not very good! Google Translate!
TdotSoul You're saying that women shouldn't dance on songs which talk about how sexy women are, aren't you?
I'm saying that in this video, some women are dancing gleeful to a song that says that intelligence in women is boring and that beauty is the only thing that matters, and i see a parallel nowadays with supposedly self respecting professional women screaming in delight and dancing when Thicke's song comes on, a song paired to a video which features scantily clad, pre pubescent looking women dancing around mute fawning over a few middle aged men. This man is woke lol
Uma música sobre como a educação universitária liberal destrói o romance e a feminilidade.
You realize that this song is a comedy skit, right? It’s all sarcasm, Eddie Cantor was one of the top comedians of the era and a singer on the side.
Man i found the guy singing annoying.
Awful Cantor imitation.

It’s an interpretation not an impersonation. He isn’t in any way trying to sound exactly like him 🙄
Convenient way of saying "it sucks."

This song is so catchy!
Does he come off a little you know 🫳nor is it just me? I mean if he is that's cool just wondering of im the only one seeing it
i also thought that. i assume it either the actor or the 1920s performer flamboyance
