The Super Bomberman series is weird. 1 is a classic Bomberman experience with detailed graphics, 2 expands on 1 with more interesting level design filled with mazes and puzzles, 3 is basically a semi-remake of Bomberman '94, 4 is like a weird hybrid between 2 and 3, and 5 is Sonic Generations a decade before Sonic Generations. And then only 1 and 2 have the same artstyle, and 2 is the only one that doesn't remix music from the Turbografx-16 games. Either way, you can't go wrong with Bomberman, unless it's Act Zero.
a great feature about this game is that you can stack up on hearts for extra hits and you can also combined bomb power ups such as having remote bombs with a piercing attribute but he blew it up at 0:25:51

Figured out a good strategy for the boss before the eye. Set up a barricade of bombs that you can detonate around the 3 silver boxes in the right corner to not let the skulls get you and when the main guy closes in on you then you just throw a bomb at him. Rinse repeat.

why did they go back to the original formula after this game? imo, this was the best bomberman game by far. they should have stuck with all the changes they introduced in this game.
maybe it is something with your emulator, but I remember the gameplay of this game being much more smooth, I mean, higher fps. But anyways, I could be bullshiting

3-5 harken back to the graphical style of Bomberman 94, likely the most beloved Bomberman game in Japan besides the Saturn game. If anything the final 3 SFC Bomberman games look nice, and showed off some nice scaling in the intros and endings.

I love this game to pieces, I really do. But the moment you get the Power Glove and Remote Control, you can snap the game in half.
