this was the easiest moon square tutorial i was able to find! thank you for taking the time to show us how it's done. your voice is so soothing you should be a narrator for audiobooks :)
I'm a biginner amd i'm almost done making all the sunflower granny squares for my cardigan❤ I feel like this will be my next project! Beautiful explanation and idea!
I cant wait to make an Artemins & Apollo Sweater with this, this was like the best tuorial ever! I was so scared of granny squares until now! Love from Germany.
Thank you so much for this easy tutorial!!! I feel like I usually have a hard time following along with crochet tutorials, but I caught on to this one pretty fast. I'm now making a blanket for my college dorm! :)
I was wondering why mine kept looking wonky, and then I realized my yarn is 2 different sizes. My moon yarn is SLIGHTLY heavier than the base yarn. So I ended up with more rounded and warped edges instead of a sqaure 😢 I'm going to try again and maybe use matching thickness of yarn. Aside from my own mistake, this pattern is WONDERFUL! AND YOUR TUTORIAL IS EASY TO FOLLOW AND AMAZING!
I'm definitely coming to this tutorial late, but I can't thank you enough for it. I just started crocheting last week and I love moon motifs, so I've been wanting to make a moon granny square sweater. Your voice is so lovely to listen to, and all your explanations were really exact and easy to follow! I am having a little issue with the round, though - I've counted my stitches at every step so I know I'm not off as well as double checked that my yarns are the same weight, but I can't seem to keep the round closed! When I do tighten it, it makes the entire side of the square on that side go all wonky. 😩 Any idea what could be the issue? Maybe I made the magic ring too big too start?
Thank you so much for your kind words! 🥹❤️ Hmm, it normally shouldn't be like that. 🤔 Perhaps instead of doing a magic ring, try chaining 3 and connecting end to the start to create a small loop and then do your stitches in there.
I can’t get the third step the middle and the moon come out good when it comes to the square around them it doesn’t make a square it’s all wonky and I’m following step by step.
Thanks for this helpfull tutorial, as a beginner I found it very easy to follow❤ but I have a doubt; if I'd like to do this square as big as the sun one what do I have to do?? I mean just add to every step a chain??
Thank you! ❤️ To make it bigger, I would add additional rounds similar to the last one. Test what stitch works the best (DC, HDC or SC) to achieve the same size as Sun square 😊
Is there a way to make the moon bigger? I followed your sun granny square tutorial and i wanted to make a bag with both squares but the moon is so small Edit: wanted to say I love your designs and ur tutorials are so easy to follow so thank you!!❤
Hey! Sure! For sunflower squares I’m using thicker yarn and bigger hook, while for moon it’s thinner and smaller hook - therefore smaller squares. One way would be to adjust the size of yarn and hook to match with the sunflower squares OR simply add extra rounds of last row to the moon square to make it bigger ☺️
@@KristinesDay you are amazing thank you ❤️ how much yarn of each color would I need? I know you said how much for sunflowers but for the moon ones would it be like 500 grams of each still or more?
how do I stop the yarn from unraveling at the points where I change colours😣?? I absolutely love this tutorial,, I'm a relative beginner and I'm looking to turn your moon, sun and star granny squares into a blanket💕 I've tried both the moon and sun tutorials and for both of them my yarn began to unravel at the point where I changed yarn colours. it really demotivating 😅 if anyone has any advice I'd really appreciate it 😣💕
hmm they shouldn't unravel since they are tied to the main piece with a knot. Maybe try to do a double knot when attaching yarn? 🤔 Hope for your blanket to turn out well! Sounds like a lovely idea! 🙌 ❤️
i don't now why, but my fourth corner keeps getting after the moon and not before like yours, I count the stiches many times and I have as many as yours, literally in te part of the video were you cut how you make the fourth courner, I got this problem, help
Hi I love this video I have a question though, on the last corner for the 3rd round I keep getting confused where the last 2 TC go after the last stitch? If I’ve already done a TC at the last stitch where is my last 2TC for the corner supposed to go? I can’t really make it out on the video, thanks so much!!
Hi! I think what you're confused into is that the last corner is made in two parts, at the beginning, you make one half of it (with the two first TC in the same stitch) and at the end you are supposed to finish it, as in putting the last two TC and the chain 3 in the same stitch as the beginning two TC. To summarize, both the first two TC and the last two TC are made into the same stitch. This is made so that corner is more nicely joined. I hope I've explained myself well here and that I understood what you were stuck in. Have a nice day!
Hi, thanks for sharing the pattern. I was following it but how do you make it flat especially where there are three tc in one stitch. Mine is all crumble up/ weavy. I'm using acrylic yarn.
I had the same problem until I noticed that I was working my stitches WAYYY too tight (especially in the magic circle and moon shape). It's also smaller than the star granny square which made it a dead giveaway for me that I'm making my stitches too tight haha. Hope this helps you :)
Mine turns out fine until I start on the second half of the moon and I start going wrong somewhere because it starts going really wonky. I think I'm putting an extra stitch in somewhere but I have no idea 😭 Edit: nevermind. I kept trying and got it eventually lol
i got everything right up to the square.. when i reach the last corner i have 4 extra stitches from where i finish to where i’m supposed to join with the start, and my moon looks a bit sideways but idk how to center it more 💔 I’m trying my best to fix it, but as a beginner it’s quite difficult to see where i made a mistake
Hmmm, sounds like you have added stitches in some places where you weren’t supposed to. Unfortunately it’s hard for me to help if I can’t see your work. :/
The right side of the square is crooked, but I'll fix it. I'll ask you something. How many of these do you need for a bag with a star message? could you please answer my question
@@AbdulTurab-h4ohave you checked that all sides have equal amount of stitches? Or perhaps you did the moon shape too tight? Depends on the size of the messenger bag - I would say at least 12 (front, back and cover panels - 4 for each)
I made the edges of the square a little crooked and opened it again and it worked, I had a little trouble because I just started, but your video gave me peace and I did it, you have very easy and simple videos and I would be very happy if you could make a video for a messenger bag, it would be great for those who want to knit 🌸🦋
This was honestly a bad tutorial. Not beginner friendly either. There were no CLEAR explanations, if there WERE explanations said in the video, they'd be confusing/not enough to clarify things. Writing the pattern halfway through round 3, not showing where stitches should start, how many you should end up with, this was incredibly overstimulating and irritating.
Awful tutorial .. too much explaining , and then doing the second half of the moon you go thru the stitches way to quick .. so first you over explain and then you don't explain enough .. I'll find another tutorial..
Feel free to adjust the speed of the video when and where needed :) if stitches are repeating or pattern is similar as done in the previous steps, I tend to not go in depth twice + everything is written out in the corner of the video as well as I have prepared a pdf version of this pattern. I hope you will find a tutorial that works for you!
@@KristinesDay I know that I can adjust the speed but that's not the issue for me with this tutorial ... Just not liking this tutorial.. it's ok I found another one that best suits, me it's quick and to the point
I’m counting the stitches on the sides, I got 14 not counting chain - on the sun granny square you made it’s 18… how would you go about connecting these? 🫶
I would add an extra round to make them equal. When some connecting, there might be a mismatch in the stitch count, however size is the important thing to match, so some some stitches would be connected together with two

You can make the moon square bigger by adding extra rounds so it matches in size with the sun square 🤗
