    Sweet of them to wish everyone goodnight and play sleepy-time music. Instead of today's "GO TO COMMERCIAL BREAK!!11"

      Not to mention that they would show their adres and phone numbers these days, because with all the lunatics and terrorist that's no longer an option.

    Can you believe it that the young peope who were in their early 30's in this video are retired now? Life is sooooooo short! Waaaaay to short!
    Hell, i could live for 200 years instead of 100! Or even 500 years because i sure would become rich because time would be on my side!

      Yeah. I've just retired myself. It only seems like 5 minutes ago I was taping this. I feel really old now. I need a drink. Cheers.

      Well i was about 20 years old when this was on tv, so i'm not retired yet, but i do like the 80's the best
      because life was great and simple and with the best entertainment ever because tv, radio and cinema
      was just great, and in the weekend we did go to the disco's because that was the best thing to do after getting laid.

    when we moved to Wales as a 11 year old in late 1986, i noticed a cable strung from house to house in our street but didn't know what it was for, my ex father told me it was electricity cable but found out later it wasn't, one of the neighbours who had the cable service invited him and my mum around to see what it was all about, he didn't seem that impressed but she did, she asked him to get it in but he said no,

      Hi, We also had cable TV in those early days. (Rediffusion) with only a handful of channels, but they were so different to normal TV at the time. Music Box, all day music videos. Movie channel, (TEN, Mirror Vision, Premiere) Sky Channel, Screen Sport, Super Channel, Lifestyle etc. Happy days.

      @@siddn when we had cable fitted in 1990 the installer fitted a 12 channel box on the window sill but only 4 were active, Channel A carried Sky News (2 am to 9am) and Eurosport (9am to 1 am) , Channel B carried Sky Movies Plus, Channel C was The Childrens Channel (6 am to 12 pm) and MTV (12 pm to 6am), Channel D carried Sky One, from 1991 Sky Sports replaced Eurosport and Sky News, and The Movie Channel replaced TCC and MTV, we had a lousy picture and drop outs in bad weather. so glad when we changed over to a dish and receiver of our own

      @@jasonl5967 It's sounds very much like the same set up we had in 1984, with the same sort of picture problems, which got worse as the night went on. Picture perfect during the day when not many were watching.

    Does anyyabody remember the scifi puppet show Starfleet Command? I followed that and I wattched the last episode too. It became a mix between sci fi and the meta physical.

      Hi, glad the clip brought back happy memories for you. Yes, they were exiting days back then. We in the UK only had 4 channels to choose from. So, when cable TV offered us a few more channels it was something different for us. Sky also gave us a glimpse into Europe, with Sky Trax and adverts for stuff we'd never heard of, Raider, (Twix) Vizier Ball, (Ariel, washing detergent) Cheers.

      Hello, I agree with you. They were such happy times. We only had 3 channels, BBC 1 BBC 2 & ITV, until 1982, when Channel 4 came along. Sky Channel started life in 1982, as Satellite Television, although we did not get it until 1984, when we moved to a cable TV area. Thanks.

    • @Distritatv
      @Distritatv 7 лет назад +1

      I think it must be in 1987 because of DJ Kat Show, Sky Traxx and a schedule that is almost equal to the one with Transformers at 15.00.

    • @siddn
      @siddn  7 лет назад

      Hi, I thought it might be 1985 due to the song Midnight Radio, plus, IIRC The Untouchables and The Dick Van Dyke Show were in the schedules around that time. But, I'm only guessing.

    • @Distritatv
      @Distritatv 7 лет назад

      DJ Kat Show got launched in 1986 and lasted until 1995. First the Sky Traxx started at 08.45 in the morning, before DJ Kat Show was Launched etc. I know too much about this ;P

      The phone numbering plan in the UK has changed (and I can imagine many other European countries) since this was published, so unlikely. Telexes are also a relic of time gone by.

      @@MichalBergseth-AmitopiaTV And when it did that 1st September 1993 it cut off from Europe to focus on the United Kingdom only. The Hollywood movie studios and programme distributors increasingly put pressure on BSkyB to restrict their output to the UK only as they weren't too happy at viewers across Europe being able to view BSkyB's programme output. Several new broadcasters also joined the BSkyB Multichannels package as well as existing broadcasters on Astra i.e. MTV Europe UK Gold The Children's Channel etc. Only channels free were German channels and Sky News.
