Looks like you’ve got snow there yet. Ground is brown up here yet in the great white north. Sure could use a couple feet of ❄️❄️❄️ before calving, not during calving preferably.

Its melting now and a muddy mess! Hopefully we get more snow before spring comes.

I’m curious about the Charolais cow in a predominately black herd? Is there a special reason for that?

Reece made Betsy sell her Belted Galloways, that year we had lots of Charolais cross heifers from some new cows. So Reece allowed Betsy to have some white ones because he felt sorry for her. Betsy and Addy like the white ones because they can see them easy in the herd :)

That’s wonderful. I know well the attachment kids have to farm animals. I grew up on a farm and cattle operation and had some favorites too.
Ranching is a hard life but a rewarding life. I wish you all the best up there in frozen Montana. You guys are living the dream.

Why don't you put Hertford bulls on your older cow

We have used some herfords in the past. Herford bulls are harder to come by around here and I like to keep my replacement heifers mostly solid black.
