I was initially imagining the building as a weather or communications station. However, upon seeing the final diorama I imagine that it is actually a remote scientific outpost, dedicated to studying the weird monsters that live in the ocean of your world. In suitable pulp style, I imagine the scientist was trying to attract a specimen to study, and got more than they bargained for. Great build!
And that could be what the bit sticking out to the side is; I thought it looked like an old hoist or winch, it could be what they use to either lower bait down or hook monsters for study.
This might be my favorite build yet. In my mind the outpost is like a lighthouse but they have sufficient enough technology that it's just a point of interest that gets broadcasted out to boats as a little blip via a radar map, there can be plenty around the coast to map out badlands or just guide boats to ports
Exactly! Like a lighthouse, but with a radio tower instead. Maybe it sends out the tide reports and includes sea monster sightings to warn passing ships of various water hazards along the coastline. "Increased sea snake activity off the coastline of Crystal Point. Be alert, it's mating season for the Rhino Crab, so watch out for randy crustaceans around the Stoney islands...", etc.
Radars and broadcasting is a bit too technologically advanced for the insane West. I'd rather he did it with messenger birds, or a giant megaphone-like contraption. Think of the storm ear from HTTYD. And a giant lamp for when they come within visual distance.
One of the best things to do is just start - airfix or model kits can help and you can always kitbash to make things cool , you won’t do great at first but the more you do the better you’ll get
Just start! Even if you don't like what you create at first you will learn what you don't want to do! Everything is a learning process and you only fall if you never start!
I think that this, out of all your videos, is my favorite. It's an absolutely beautiful and stunning landscape and you did a phenomenal job executing it. This, I believe, was also the first video of yours that I watched. It's cool to see how far you've come from this point and you've inspired so much creativity within me these past few years. Thank you, Boylei. (To be clear, the reason it may not look like I have many comments on this channel and such is because I'm using my RUclips account rather than my main.)
For the outpost, I think there are several possibilities 1) It's someone's get away from the rest of the chaotic world you've built 2) It's a single bandit's, or a few bandit's, hideout for safety, and people are deterred from coming because of the tentacle boi down in the water 3) It is a lookout on the coast, as there are sci-fi flying/ocean-bound/mixture of both pirates always attempting to attack the large mining town (or whatever would be on the coast that generates big bucks), and this is only one of several protecting the coast. This is also one that's further ahead of the large wall/AA defense protecting the town. Undesirables or soldiers who are being punished are sent there to reflect on their actions/get rid of them, as it's relatively dangerous 4) It's a kids hideout he's built up over the years and he feeds the monster and they've developed somewhat of a bond. The kid is a science prodigy and that's why it's so messy with sci-fi griblies
I quite like the idea of it being somewhere the undesirables are sent to do some work while also having a very high chance of dying (first comparison that comes to my mind is iron lung)
@fari this is the weirdest one of these I've seen. Starting with "UNCENSORED S*X" and ending with "I love NBA Loo". What a rollercoaster of emotions. Does Loo know how you feel?
Again, I just love the storytelling potential of these builds. I’d love to read even a short story about this fellow who sits alone in this outpost, watching, waiting for… something.
I love the idea that he's the only one they station out there because he's the only one the tentacle monster doesn't eat. And when eating meats he'll throw random bits to the tentacle monster. He kinda likes it and calls it Pitt
i love the idea of just taking one little guy from a kit of plastic items and giving him his own story. it’s awesome. you’re doing some really inspiring stuff, man!
Finally a sea monster. You should definitely tap into the “van meter visitor”, it’s an pterosaur like creature that was spotted in Iowa 1903 in the mid west. the monster has a great wings and a horn that glows a blinding light and was said to fly around and would reside in the mines. Reports say it loves to perch on top of roof tops, I think it would fit perfectly into your Wild West aesthetic.
There has been a couple incidents of giant Pterasaur/Pterodactyl in the Midwest and CA area back in the late 1800', early 1900's that attacked livestock. Supposedly there is a photo out there that shows a group of cowboys standing in front of one that they had shot down. It was nailed to the side of a barn for the photo and had about a twenty foot wingspan.
Okay, it's hard, but I think I may have to declare this as my current favorite. It contains all of the things that make me happy to see in a Boylei project. Resin, tentacle monsters, repurposed model parts, buildings with lots of greeblies, and guitar string cabling.
Amazing Diorama!! And honestly in my mind the little outpost is like a 'firewatch' but instead of watching for bad weather it primarily watches for giant sea monsters and broadcasts it out to ships and settlements so they can avoid it =)
I dont understand people who watch this video and say it's a waste of time. This looks so amazing and it makes me want to build my own diorama with all the model's I have
Calling it good is an understatement my friend. These builds are just amazing. That side build, a power supply or maybe a hoist to lift bulk supplies from a boat? It's your story. Thanks for sharing your work, always brings a smile to my Sunday morning. 😎
Loved this build, it felt so homey like I would love to visit there even with the tentacle monster. To me it almost seems like the postmans pet, the monster helps protect the place!
I like to think the man sits on this outpost, very aware of the danger below. Hes been here for years in quiet isolation and each day his consideration of whether to jump and take the plunge gets stronger and stronger.
Great job as always. I look forward to seeing this world grow and evolve. This one definitely feels like a weather monitoring station to me. Keep up the good work ❤️
Fantastic as usual, love this one. I'm thinking the outpost is a monster spotter tower, like a lighthouse but they broadcast a repeating warning to local shipping when a water monster is active in the area!
If I were a kid, and this collection was mass produced, it would 100% be my modern "Goosebumps" compulsion to get every set. Or modern "Mighty Max", or whatever- this whole set would be on my Christmas list every single year until I had them all. Like Goosebumps/Mighty Max wouldn't even be in the same ballpark, this would be everything I obsess over. Wow these are awesome.
Ok I've come up with an entire backstory for this excellent build: it's a research outpost! The caretaker is a marine biologist that specializes in krakens. He chose this spot because of the baby krakens in the area and studies their growth and socialization. The antenna is for sharing his research to the home base.
This is one of the best series on RUclips I’ve seen in a while. Whenever I feel like doing something creative, I watch these for inspiration and they work like a charm. This is an awesome build as well. Something that I’d really love to see is some sort of Native American monster (I know you’ve already made a Wendigo, but I still think more couldn’t hurt.) Maybe even a monster hunting office, where monster hunters go to collect and receive bounties and rewards on monsters. Or even some kind of flying mechanic with Thunderbirds chasing it. I doesn’t really matter what it is, I just love this series. Keep up the good work!
Lightning catcher! To catch lightning for the obvious. But it could be used to make bolts for certain weapons used by monster hunters and such!!! Awesome build as always. Makes me always look forward to Sunday!
I feel like it's a weather/climate station, but less "what's the wind-speed", and more "tracking the radio-disruption given off by thunderstorms". Fantastic work as always, and another lovely, chilled video.
I would says its An Trader Out Post For Flying Ships, And The Big Winch On the Side is for them to Latch on to and be winched in for Traders, The Monster is The guard for water Ships, and Bandits! LOL! LOVE THIS ONE SAVED IT to my FAVS!! EPIC BUILD AGAIN! WOOP WOOP!
I never get tired of seeing this series. It's like looking directly into your imagination. The device on the side of the outpost could be a winch for bringing stuff up into the shed since it sticks out over the water, you know for larger items that would be difficult to get across the bridge? Also something like an osprey or seagull nest with lots of droppings and fish bones under it would have been a cool touch, and metal like the brass railings in that environment could have quite a bit of corrosion if you wanted to add some weathering.
My thought is that this outpost acts as a relay station for the anti-monster signal that some of the explorer's machines put out. The big blocky thingy on the side is a transformer to boost the signal so that it reach the pioneers deeper in the wilderness. This particular location was chosen for the large lake creature; it acts as a deterrent to other monsters and allows the relay station to operate relatively "safely" and unhindered by other creatures. My husband and I thoroughly enjoy the lore and the world you are creating; we are certainly invested.
Definitely looks like an ELINT station. Spying on radio signals. Maybe a generator for a big signal amplifier for being able to pick out those faint little blips in the background noise. Awesome video. Not only a fun topic but you always know how to add little bits of humor here and there if people are paying attention.
Man this is incredibly awesome. Highlights for me were the brass railings and metal grating at the observation tower and the flexible bridge. The bridge idea was fantastic and worked great! A very unique piece indeed.
Ooh, one of Reaper’s Bones miniatures! Those are a godsend for painting practice. And I’d say that’s some sort of radio beacon tower to help ships navigate.
I really love this one. There never can be too many details. Love how calmn the owner of the house is, he knows this monster well and all its habits I reckon. Usually gets his left over food to eat, I reckon.
I want to call it a light house or a sort of beacon. Maybe the box on the side is how it generates power for said signal. Really cool build. I really like the island like build. The depth works really well.
I believe that silicone thing is for pan loaf, if it were for meat cake it would be yellow. The best thing about these builds is how you set the audience's imagination ablaze - half the comments are tangents you set off, like one of those fireworks where each spark ends in another firework. Excellent work.
Really great diorama. Great work with the resin. And the house is really nice. Not to much in it. Maybe one of my favourite too. The colours on the house was spot on. And the trees and the red flowers, really made it alive.
Another fantastic episode, Bolei. I know what both the platform on top and the machine attached to the side of the building do. The machine is a giant octopus parts processing machine. It's basically an oversized Cuisinart. Octopus parts go in one end, and a can of octopus flavored cat food come out the other. I'm surprised you don't know this. The top platform is where you go to get some fresh air. Let's just say that in the summer the aroma of giant octopus parts can get very... heady. I love how you pour the resin against the stick to soften the impact of the resin so that you get less bubbles. This week's 'Brett's Big Brain Award' goes to Boylei! I'd love to see a shot or two of your wire bending jig. The guitar strings are also a super cool material to use. They look great. Haha! Blue Steel! The clear coat on the sides to create more visibility in the resin = Brilliant! Thank you for the shout out! Much appreciated. Sorry about the novella that I've written here.
Seeing that you have posted a new video is the highlight of my day! perhaps this is a marine research and weather station, and the contraption is for transmitting the outpostman's findings and data to the mainland.
I believe that the outpost could be a sort of high tech lighthouse, using the box on the side to image the sea floor and the antenna to send the messages to ships.
It's like a lighthouse. Instead of light to indicate dangerous rocks nearby, it uses a morse code signal from the tower as a repeating "stay away" signal. This antenna keeper has a hazardous, lonely job, but he has saved countless lives.
Awesome! This one could def be a radio broadcast outpost. They broadcast to all of the other builds with antennas and update the townsfolk on monster activity or bounties. The griblies are a power booster.
Meatloaf trays and wormie dealies? This is my kinda project.
NOTB! The legend speaks

Yes a nod to Meatloaf himself rip

Very cool diorama mate. Your resin pouring was also flawless. I think you need to create a lake in your city with more resin dioramas. 👍👍
it's awesome with that skill
Maybe an oasis would be more fitting for a 'desert' setting! Or a well with a monster at the bottom? Still, I love and agree with your idea.
