  • Ferry M/S Baldur crosses Breidafjördur Bay daily from Stykkishólmur on the Snæfellsnes peninsula to Brjánslækur in the Westfjords in the north. The ferry operates all year around. A ferry ride shortens the route between the south and mid-west of Iceland and the Westfjords region. The ferry trip across Breiðafjörður takes around 2,5 hours. The ferry has a stopover at small Flatey island, renowned for its birdlife. Cars are not allowed on Flatey.
Stykkishólmur, at the edge of the Þórsnes peninsula, is the center of services and commerce in Snæfellsnes. The town's main port is situated on a natural bay and is sheltered by the islet Stykki, from which the town's name is derived. Stykkishólmur is about 175 kilometers away from Reykjavík (by way of the Hvalfjörður Tunnel) or a two-hour drive.
Brjánslækur is an age-old manor and parsonage located on the mouth of Vatnsfjörður. The protected ruins Flókatóftir is located in Brjánslækur. Flókatóftir is believed to be the ruins of Hrafna-Flóki's settlement (Hrafna-Flóki was one of Iceland's first settlers). it takes about 45 minutes to drive from Brjánslækur to Patreksfjörður, the nearest urban area.

Remember her from Skutvik-Skrova-Svolvær here in Norway where she was in traffic until 2014 as "Vågan"

@@l33g0 another curiousity is that the new "Baldur" was the ferry who previously took over when "Vågan" went to Iceland, and it happened one more time, this time on Iceland, when "Baldur" set sail for Caribbean as "Bequia Express 3"
