Vikings were the first to go to Iceland, Greenland and Newfoundland, at around year 900-1000 AD. One can see the proof at L’Anse aux Meadows in Newfoundland. When we did a tour from Reykjavik while on a transatlantic cruise, we were told about the Vikings and their Sagas, a statue of Leif Erickson is in front of the lovely newish Lutheran cathedral. Thank you and we like your videos. You seem to prefer northern climes as do we, except not in the snow.

Thanks for your comments. Over the past 40 years, I have visited and worked in 35 countries, from Alaska to Vietnam and Sweden to Venezuela. I always eat localy there, but don't mind a pizza if realy nothing else is available. In pizza places, you meet backpackers, in nice restaurants and good bars/hotels, you meet tourists but also local people, with whom you can discuss contemporary art, music, the country's history, geo-politics etc. Greetings, Andreas

The church is actually a swan if you see it from the side

Surround that church with sand, and it could be a location from Star Wars!

Hi, I am realy disappointed, that you are showing us a stupid PIZZA!! and not even one beautifull traditional meal in a nice restaurant there. Try again. Andreas

The top three restaurants in the village are Sjavarpakkhusid, Narfeyrarstofa, and Skurinn. I would love to have eaten at the first (which is presumably the restaurant you feel should have been included) but unfortunately it had no availability over the two nights I was there. The other two feature briefly (this is not a food channel). It hadn't been my intention to arrive and eat pizza but for any visitors arriving without reservations Skurrin really is the only option. Furthermore, the pizzas are great and it is the place to mix with locals rather than simply other tourists.

in stykkishólmur there arent many restaurants as its a village, only 1300 ppl leave here and the restaurants here dont have any "traditional" food.
