Don't plan on marrying baby I'll get you what you need Not too far to go on Not too far to bleed You can ask for pims in your head You can ask for symmetrical planning You can ask for tortuous membrane You can ask for orange juice frozen Oooh you You can ask for any old woman You can ask for an army of ants You can ask for a pillar of poison You can ask for sheep and shavers And you can die for Be careful what you wish for Be careful what you wish for
It took me eight years to realize this, but the left and right ears are different tracks. They're both playing the same thing, but they're different recording takes. You can hear slight differences in the feedback and strumming patterns.
Oh this is literally how every rock guitar recording is done. Did you not notice the two drum takes? That's the thing about this song that stands out as far as experimental recording goes, that's never done
Yeah, I think that’s how a lot of tracks are recorded, but what’s really special here is the two different drum tracks being played. I remember one is Alfredo and one is another drummer from this particular Homme era, but it really is so fun to hear because it tricks your ear into thinking there’s an octopus on the drums.
Josh Homme might have recorded it during desert sessions 5&6 in 1999, but Rickshaw was allegedly written by John Mcbain from Monster Magnet back in the plastic turks demo in 1997. He owns at least part of the rights to the track. You're free to play others songs in a session, but you can't claim it as your own band's song legally unless you have permission and/or royalty deals like what Qotsa has done with Alain Johannes and Mario Lalli songs in the past.
youtube to mp3, play it from your pc through spotify, then opening the app from your phone will let you add it to your liked, or you can just add the mp3 to your playlist from your pc

No love for Powdered Wig Machine? I think that's my favourite from that album after Crawl Home. I mean I am a sucker for PJ Harvey but her vocals on PWM are so fucking good
That's what I was just thinking. I've been listening to all of Josh's tracks for 20 years and am just realizing the drums are insane. I have heard this song over 200 times easily lol.
Kids... rock and roll is not about going 100mph, it's this... does Josh sing "you could ask for orange frozen juice" ...yes he does, but everyone still knows the Andre the Giant 'OBEY' logo, could have been a masterpiece, but to some it's a prefect image of a vibe, pure rock and roll
Both the progression and drums are different from My God Is the Sun. I'm a drummer and don't really see the connection. Plus, this recording was made with two drummers playing at the same time- Gene Trautmann and Adam Maples.
I think when people make the connection between the two, they're usually talking about the QotSA/Plastic Turks version instead. ruclips.net/video/m-Qhc6QYsWI/видео.html

The greatest song ever conceived. Ben shepherd on bass with Joshh homme. God lord!
Listened to this between every class for a couple of years in high school. Great times, matched the hallway chaos.
They really should start doing this one live - qotsa, that is - and transition to My God Is The Sun.
would be perfect, they fit nicely each other.
You mean Avon? Right?
@@mattvgyo Rickshaw isn't a Qotsa song.
Yes, but it depends who has rights to the song. Avon was changed so that Qotsa could use the song legally.

Honestly hits so hard
Agreed.

Bring it back gentle for me but this is right up there
I can’t listen to this anywhere but RUclips. I love it and I wish I could add it to my playlist 😓

If I havent commented this on every iteration of this song on youtube, it's one of my absolute favorites of all time. Just perfect.
So heavy but ethereal at the same time
I never get tired of this song. It is perfect.
It has helped me through the hard years.
Instant energy!
Possibly my favourite desert sessions song
Sean Kerr Stunning music...
my favorite from the desert sessions (a toss between this and crawl home/ there will never be a better time)
No love for Powdered Wig Machine? I think that's my favourite from that album after Crawl Home. I mean I am a sucker for PJ Harvey but her vocals on PWM are so fucking good
yes, for me is one of the top 5 in my life soundtracks....

He didn't technically create it. He inspired it and Co directed some of the films. Maybe I'm an alien too ;*
I don't know what time it was, had to wear a watch. So good to be an ant that crawls atop a spinning rock.
Musica molto trascinante
SOLID GOLD!

My God is the Sun preview 🤘
Holding out for a re-record or new live version of this song!
Somehow they make two different drum takes work at the same time.
awesome. great song
Two Drums *_*
You can ask for shaved herbs too

I prefer the heavier QOTSA version with John McBain, but this still kicks ass.
Both the progression and drums are different from My God Is the Sun. I'm a drummer and don't really see the connection. Plus, this recording was made with two drummers playing at the same time- Gene Trautmann and Adam Maples.
Also it's a better song
I didn't know that about the drummers. Thought it was the guy form the first Queens album, I always forget his name. Do love him though
My God Is The Sun is actually more similar to Running Joke, from Era Vulgaris...
Alfredo Hernandez? He's also amazing, but I heard he played drums on Rickshaw demo, it's somewhere of youtube
I think when people make the connection between the two, they're usually talking about the QotSA/Plastic Turks version instead. ruclips.net/video/m-Qhc6QYsWI/видео.html
Always thought it was josh freese on the drums
