As someone who moved to FFXIV this year from TbC - SL, I wanted the game to revamp old systems and assets instead of making 1 xpac throw away content. The UI revamp & skill tree for example will outlive the xpac. But its a shame to see those are the only long term revamps. Capitals like SW / ORG, Shipping Ports, or events (Christmas, Halloween, Valentines Day...) stay outdated since time immemorial. Beautiful cities have come along and died with the xpacs, but no effort was put into lasting zones SW / ORG (besides retexture in cata & portal rooms in BfA).
I want a complete engine change. I stopped 3 years ago and picked up FFXIV a year ago and it looks so much better, with better gameplay and much more appealing (with less Legion). WoW on the other hand has just gotten by on it's engine refresh (IMO) hoping that the regulars will stay. I loved WoW but when more games started to come up with better graphics, I lost interest. It's not like they don't have revenue coming in to put effort into redoing the engine either... But, it's activision now and sadly, it's all bottom-line and squeeze as much as you can out of the subs.
As someone with 5k hours in FF I disagree on gameplay. Housing and emotes are cool, but FF is not near as good as wow in endgame. Neither jobs nor the raids.
The profession revamp is the expans biggest addition imo. As all professions are now designed to be profitable and viable in end game throughout the expansion. This simple change not only creates interaction, it creates an economy and it effectively creates content through the interactionsm

Not only that. Physics system before shadowlands is too lame. Npcs walks through the rocks while players have jump xp

If the dragonflight is the biggest feature of the expansion... things aren't looking great.
Complete talent revamp.... Complete crafting revamp.. new class... New race. Not much going on huh 🙄

@@UltimatePowa Well they said it every time, we will see then if "every professions will be profitable", but i doubt. Wait&See.
