#10 is a F@$!ing masterpiece!! No one else even came close to matching it.
Im re-watching the video dozens and dozens of times. The conclusion i had is:
*CONGRATULATIONS! All entries were incledible. I see the effort and love all of you have about calligraphy. I cheer and pray for all of you to reach all your dreams and to be happy. The same for all of those who weren't in the video: *YOU CAN DO IT BETTER!* Never give up!
Sadly, we have to choose nine. The thing i need to say about what made me choose is something that an artist, in every area and every level, NEED to understand is: ART IS CREATIVITY AND CREATIVITY IS INTELIGENTLY BOLD.
All of the entries were made with love and all of the artists have talent (and this is undiscussable), but what differed each other was the creativity.
You dont win a contest by writing with pretty ink in a pretty font. It is indeed pretty, and you did it nicely, but it isnt... Unique. More than half entries were pretty inks and pretty fonts. All of them thought the same. Its a writing contest, right? So what? I did as i was told.
Baby, it is so easy to do as youre told. So easy to follow rules.
Art dont have rules. Remember when i said creativity was bold? Tell them.
Draw. Paint. Cut. Make it happen. Brink your letters to life. Make something no one expects. Be you, in all your glory!
But you cant shit on a paper and call it creative. Remember when i said to be inteligent? Youre not a monkey, god dammit. Be bold and dare, but thats not how germany won a war. Well, they actually didnt wont it, exactly because they were too 'creative' and less inteligent. You know how that ended.
Ending this coment here, i will soon annouce my 9 winners. I love you all, and remember to never give up. Bless!

1,21 & 38 are awesome but deserving one is bit tough
Number 10(1) knocks it out of the park of course, so instead let's just focus on the runners up.
In no particular order:
I like the direction on 45. Has shape and texture. Very hard to read, though.
13 is interesting.
30 has a very different letter style that brings Tolkien to mind somehow.
37 has a lot of interesting texture and color, but suffers from a clash of styles.
I like the thick white ink on 53
48 has a certain solid inevitable character to it. Like the crawler they used to carry the Saturn V to the launchpad.
And I can't resist the illuminated manuscript style of 38.

What is the best calligraphy book you would recommend for learning different styles? I know old English and good cursive, I would like to learn how to make masterpieces that include the swirls and fillers that bring it up to the next level.
Also is there a pen you recommend for left handers?
I like Black Letter the most! But my personal favorites are 54, 1, 11 and 45!
I says 1 but it's 10. 10 should win but 68-69 are amazing. Idk you well enough to know your style though cuz whoever wins should capture the essence of you and the people you work with.

There was about four i thought worthy of winning although they were all first class. But the four im thinking of went just that little bit further with their brilliance!

All of them did an amazing work. My favs would be 5, 9, 10, 22, 31, 35 and 45. But between those, I would go with 10 - he did an amazing job. (I hope it's not too late to give feedback ^^'')

Hey, I need a piece of advice. I’m thirteen and I want a good brush pen. I have a pretty limited budget, but I’ve only had crap brush pens before. I need something that is smooth, but lays ink down evenly. What would you recommend?
Edit: A budget of about 30$ as a birthday present. It could go over 30$, as I can probably do some negotiating.
Also, I think you should use some music from David cutter music.

Number 10 is definitely my favorite piece. It's absolutely beautiful. However it isn't calligraphy so I don't understand why it's included. It's an incredible lettering piece.
guthro123 thank you very much! ;) yes it's not the calligraphy, But The organizers of the competition gave permission to use any style in that challenge (calligraphy, typography, handlettering etc.) :D

This is not true! The challenge as everything related to Calligraphy Masters as always doesn't include Calligraphy only, but: Calligraphy, Lettering & Sign Painting!!!
