He was actually the first tenor in the original lineup and I’ve heard him singing tenor in more recent videos too. Pretty cool that he can move around like that.
@@music-e5e I fully agree. They had a very tight harmonic blend and an exceptionally good lead voice, plus a handful of good songs -- "Little Lonely One" being my favorite. It seems their record label, Laurie, failed them with poor promotion and did not focus on getting them further material for achieving their full potential. I was a doo-wop singer back then, and I know a good group when I hear it.
These are not the original. They are all dead now. I played Guitar with them shortly in the 90's. They were trying to prepare a comeback. When the lead singer and NEW bass singer died. These guys are good but Still just a new group trying to capitalize on the originals fame.1961 was a good year. The year a Jewish record producer came to Richmond pulled the talented group off a street corner and recorded them atop a downtown store. They proved to be amongst DOO WOOPS BEST. TOMMY E. and the rest I will miss they were in the generation of musicians before I started in 1967.
Actually Ray Smith(original tenor, later bass) is still alive. Paul Burnett & Tommy Eldridge(who had a group in the 90s) died within a few years of each other. Tommy wasn't a new bass, he was the original.

A well-written song. All-time favorite.
Great song - great group - thank you for the memories of when music was boss.
Yes, Ray Smith, the bass singer, is an original Jarmel! He is still alive and tours with the group.

Ray Smith is such an excellent bass.
Impressive Nostalgia!!!🙋
Goose bumps. sometimes tears; and , yes NOSTALGIA!!!
Very underrated group.
They were an excellent group. As good as most groups that were famous.

Right, all are dead except for one and he is the bass singer in this video.
@@tberkoff it's sad cause Earl Christian died in Vietnam. Then Nathaniel, Tommy, and Paul died within 5 year off each other

This Group is just very ordinary and out of tune
