Is he wearing his white boots?
He was so busy with back door dealing,he forgot his job for Florida .
Charlie Crist warned us.
We were all warned by Charlie Crist that this was what DeSantis was going to do. But OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO the Repubs here wanted DeSantis. So they get what they get. As for me, I'm outa here. Can't stand this political upheaval where they do so many heinous acts and call it the opposite of what taxpayers want. Why won't people in Flori-DUH do their homework and find out really what's going on instead of listening to political dogma?
@@ase2060 Yeah, Desantis is the worst governor I've seen in my lifetime. A petty and hateful man who focuses all of his energy on stupid culture war nonsense and "stopping woke" as opposed to fixing Florida's actual problems.
Last year he vetoed a bill to help prevent this. Ask yourself again if he has your family, your livelyhoods, and your lives as his best interests?
If you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you...
East Sarasota County was a man made situation. They kept the water control structures closed to allow the creek to drain and in turn the waters above that rose above levels that have never been seen. Houses flooded in areas that aren’t flood zones. Have never flooded. And most aren’t insured for flood because of it. While the town drained, out east drowned. And it was caused by a decision made by the county. It just sucks that people’s homes and possessions were sacrificed by the county
It’s because the county permitted all those residents out east to the protest of those living along Philippi Creek, we all knew this could happen but the county was hungry for the tax money. The people out east kind of have no choice because it would be unfair to punish the people in the west to protect the newcomers in the east. The new developments cannot be protected over the old developments. So when you’re buying a property in a new development you should expect to be the last on the totem pole as far as priority.
Interesting. Watching from afar it seems something with water control was messed up
It was man made because it is humans that caused climate change by irresponsibly polluting the atmosphere of G-d's green Earth. Humans failed as stewards of Earth.
Absolutely correct!!!

Every year new record highs, new record water temperatures, sea level rises.

Where were these people this year when Ron DeSantis signed a bill that deleted "climate change" from Florida laws? For decades, climatologists have predicted a vast increase in storms with very heavy rainfall. The Gulf of Mexico is the warmest it's ever been. That's what drove this storm. According to Sarasota meteorologists, this rainfall was a 1-in-200-year event there. With global warming, it'll soon be a 1-in-2-year event.
Karma!
You mean....Florida has never had hurricanes before?
@@matthewhowe3727 This wasn't a hurricane. It was a mere tropical storm.
As other people have said this is a matter of too much building and not leaving enough of the natural land that would have absorbed the water. That coupled with inadequate drainage for the number of homes that have been built. That's not climate change but human change
No go-go boots?
He gonna ask for Federal aid or that too woke ??
Hes gonna do both then turn around to being a lame hypocryte again
Desantis is friends with the big developers like Pat Neal who are destroying all the natural areas that used to absorb water
@@buffaloman5042 the state has no power over permitting, that’s a local function. If you have a complaint, contact your commissioners.
@@FaithwalkerTodd legislators make the laws for developments also
@@buffaloman5042 When localized flooding occurs, and the design of the drainage system is thought to be a contributing factor, responsibility can be attributed to several parties, depending on the specific circumstances:
1. **City/Local Government:** The local government is typically responsible for the design, construction, and maintenance of public infrastructure, including drainage systems. If the drainage system was poorly designed or not maintained properly, the local government could be blamed.
2. **Engineering/Design Firm:** If a third-party engineering or design firm was contracted to design the drainage system, and it was done inadequately or did not meet local standards, that firm might be held accountable.
3. **Construction Contractors:** If the drainage system was not constructed according to the approved plans or specifications, or if there were issues during construction (e.g., improper materials, shoddy workmanship), the contractor could be at fault.
4. **Property Developers:** In cases where a private development has altered natural water flow or contributed to the problem by not including proper drainage solutions, the developer could be responsible.
5. **Environmental Factors:** Sometimes, extreme weather events or changes in the environment (e.g., increased urbanization, deforestation) can overwhelm even well-designed systems. In these cases, it might be more of an issue of unforeseen circumstances rather than blame.
Often, liability is determined through investigations, which may involve multiple parties.

Google Hurricane Andrew 🙄
@@lauralee83No, but a very slow moving storm dumping tons and tons of rain (like Debby) is. 😎
From watching several Sarasota flood videos , I think people want to know why DeSantis wasn't there months ago with funds to improve drainage .
@@tmooregolfer there’s nothing wrong with the drainage in Sarasota. The state has no control over local drainage. The only problem there seems to be is the county depends mainly on Philippi Creek as a drainage point and all of the older communities along that area are subject to flooding. When you add more communities or upstream you reduce the ability of the land to absorb the water up there which causes more flooding for the older neighborhoods. So they put dams to control the flow of water coming from the east to make sure it doesn’t overwhelm the older neighborhoods that should have priority.
Being born and raised in both Manatee and Sarasota counties, I agree that the drainage system in Sarasota needs improvement and upgrades, especially with their city infrastructure and tons of flat concrete roads/pavements.
A few months ago we had our historical rainfall in both Sarasota and Manatee Counties from whatever type of rain cloud hit us that day xD My dads home is in a Zone D in Sarasota between Bee Ridge and Clark, and they had their streets flood over 12 inches from that rain within less than 24hrs, (he took a ruler to measure). Their neighborhood streets didn’t have any drainage systems, just dirt ditches that have been dug up all around the houses and roads. My grandma’s Zone D home in Bradenton off of Cortez that had sewers in their dirt ditches on their streets only flooded about a few inches, still drivable with a sedan.
After the storms, Sarasota County “upgraded” their drainage systems by digging the ditches deeper. With Debby, my dad’s streets flooded over 16 inches. Digging even more just ripped away more soil for the water to soak into, and whenever there is a flood, the top layers of the surfaces of soil, moving the soil all around.
Sadly, Sarasota County is a charter county, meaning that they have their own authority to set forth governmental boundaries, powers and functions, structure and organization, methods and finance, and means of electing or appointing local officials. It’s basically a local government constitution. So for Sarasota to have DeSantis improve their drainage systems is very unlikely. However, for Manatee County it is very likely. Hope this helps!
None of that matters Sarasota will be under 5 ft of sea water within 8-9 yrs. Don’t believe me go look at NOAA’s forecast for the state of Florida, there is a reason the insurance companies left post haste, they already knew
