My personal approach that helps with me creating melodies is establishing the harmony, and then humming out a melody with the chords. My general rule of thumb when composing the melody is to keep the notes of the melody closely connected so it would flow with what you’re trying to make.
I need an explanation because to my understanding a harmony is when multiple sounds are playing the same notes at the same time. What is there to harmonize with if you haven’t created a melody yet?
4th tip: you can also use Dominant or Augmented 7th chords which sound pretty cool. Using 4 notes make it sound fuller . You can also play derranged 11th and 3rd 1/2 notes with a lifted sharp to the 5th note. This makes it sound so like i dont have a clue. Just made that last part up lol
Hey what’s up ima signed artist and producer, I’m 17 lol and I’ve been using fl studio since I was 3 I have live streams of me making beats you can check them out if you want maybe they can help you!
Also, you could play random notes and just have 1/4 beat on. Then record your beats or notes you figured out, it organizes the bad notes you might play.
Rhythm is a key part of melody- can anyone elaborate further? This resonates with my brain. Sometimes all it takes is explaining something the right way to make it click. Like I never understood calculus until someone said "it's the math that measures change over time, like a graph on a graph for every step of the way." Now calculus makes sense, even if that isn't a perfect description. Saying rhythm is a key part of melody gives me the same feeling.
I whistle. I've been using a piano for making chord progressions and they all sounded the same xd. Just use different instruments or whistle if you don't have any other instruments.
Paid plug ins or cracked plug ins simple as that really bro 💯 xpand 2 is really good for the money it’s like £10 and probably better than most of FL presets for trap etc or you could pay for arcade/splice

How complicated do you want to explain? - YES

Agreed actually
Woah, thank you! Melody is the hardest for me because I don’t feel looks dedicating my life to music theory 😭
You don’t need music theory it just takes practice I just use different scales and use the white notes and people say my melodies are good

Great video my friend! If people catch the lingo you saved them months or years or trial and error.

My melodies come from my head.
I find selecting 4 chords and making another instrument using mostly those 4 notes works best for me

To me, that is not a melody (you can sing) but rather an arpeggio.
Melodies are not meant to be build or crafted. They simply spontaneously come to you as a gift from above!
