Hi friends! Welcome to my "secrets of dirt cheap framed art." I'm going to be sharing all my tips, tricks, ideas, and secrets for transforming thrifted artwork and wall frames into high end and expensive looking wall art decor for your home. Thrift store wall art is one of my favorite home decor items to hunt for, and usually you can find some hidden gems for very cheap / inexpensive. There are a few key features that I tend to look for when thrifting for art and frames. I always look for solid wood frames, custom matting, and a traditional / antique vibe for the frame structure. Occasionally, you can get lucky and find a print or piece of art that is worth salvaging along with the frame. Otherwise, you need to look past the ugly, outdated wall art and frames, and envision what it could become with a little paint and an art print that speaks to you personally. Matting is important to me because I think it makes an art piece look more custom and high end. If you pick up a thrifted piece of wall art with some ugly matting, you can even paint that along with the frame itself to customize it exactly to your taste and style.

Found a framed, signed and numbered print at the salvation army that was kinda beat up with the glass missing. I bought it anyway because it was of a polar bear. Took it to hobby lobby to get it framed and it turns out that print was selling online for several thousand dollars. It looks great hanging in our home. I love buying thrift store artwork.

I have been doing this for a while myself; I love seeing what you've done. It is amazing how different that wall now looks at your entrance with the two gold-framed botanical prints...so elegant and expensive-looking 👍 💛 (I am assuming you have found a piece of glass for the one on the left by now... 😅)

I loved your video! I have an obsession with old frames and the matting that comes with some. I found your video when I was doing a search for ideas for all the frames that are collecting in my storage closet.

great vidoe and ideas. So i have question. Do you recommend use flat , matte or recommend satin? Your vedio the spray you used is satin so I am confused. Thank you.

I think she was saying that she has learned to, in future, only use flat or matte spray paint for the 'surrounds'...as when she has used satin it usually comes out blotchy 🙂

You should just take the glass out of the other one. I think it would look really good without the glass.
